Do you see how things can mushroom into a 3 ring Circus??

Old Soldier Tom's Journal.
http://heli-gunnertom.blogspot.com/

Wow! This gentleman is really out for blood...|LOL! I can tell that 'Hugo' is highly educated, in my humble opinion, and I know that Mr. Hugo is telling the truth about certain aspects of the Vietnam War. If only he had the where with all to put these historic facts before the American people and Congress and the VA, perhaps he could do some good! However, Hugo doesn't have ALL THE FACTS RIGHT YET. He doesn't really know me well enough to make all of his presumptions about my character, beliefs and the Bible. I can guess that he is not an American citizen by his verbal usage, writing style, grammar, etc., but he is very knowledgeable and educated. In fact, I welcome good, clean, spirited arguments with MERIT and TRUTH. I also admit that I don't know everything and continue to learn new things, that I am sometimes wrong and wrong headed-- but I am firm in my beliefs about God Word- the Bible.

Now, concerning the Mei Lai massacre in Vietnam, I actually know TOO much and enough to get myself and others in trouble, although I was not in that location at the time. It was a horrible tragedy and nightmare and it was murder, IMHO, but the little Company grade officers took the heat for what the Generals should have been blamed as they really gave the order! And 'we' collectively were guilty of some bad serious things, but again--soldiers take orders. A civilian just would not know about those things. We can also talk intelligently about the US ideology, mistakes and cover ups that still affect the Vietnamese and our own US Soldiers who continue to suffer and die every day. Many mistakes are/ were made in combat and war.... even from the beginning of time to now. War is a terrible thing-- but a well armed Military/ Army/ Navy is needed for survival. That's a fact and the harsh reality! Hugo conveniently fails to talk about the violent history of the Muslims and Buddhists and their ideology... they preach one thing yet do another... same as they accuse us of. But there are plenty of "false Christians" too.
As for the Bible, Hugo, you don't know a thing about that book, it seems, and you are NOT a believer. You are locked into a false religion, and you pick and choose what you want to highlight. I respect you as a human being and your Faith-- but I certainly do not agree with it--and you on many issues. Osama Bin Ladin is another issue that I would like to talk about latter, and he is no buddy of mine either. You say that Osama is YOUR buddy...lol??
Mr. Hugo, may I please have your full name and the country/ state or region where you live? I still can't find you personal email address....HELLO! This is your LAST chance to be identified and state you full name, country and mailing address-- or you're just another third world chicken. Cluck, cluck....
Have a great day.

Aloha DoorGunner,

DoorGunner, DoorGunner, DoorGunner, look at what you have gone and done!!!
You
have mentioned, on a couple of occasions, that you would like to have
a few more
blog-site followers. Now you got what you wished for. You got your
'Good
Buddy' HUGO. I'm cracking up so bad that I can hardly type his
message.

Also, its highly amusing to know that you have a 'Second Good Buddy'
in Ossama
Been Hiding, as suggested by Hugo. Your list keeps growing!!!
Good on you!!!

Am surprised to learn that you thoughtlessly, carelessly, but

with firm
determination, wiped-out 83-members of his wife's family.
This is a malicious
act that only a 'Terrible Tom' could inflict on poor peasants;
a "proud crime"
against his family.

You are doing just fine, DoorGunner. Keep-up the good work.
I'm out here
cheering you onward. You got a live one on your hands at long last.
Have
fun!!!

Onward Christian Soldier, Onward.

Take good care ----------------------

Dear Sir,

Do you really mean that God himself wanted You to massacre 83 people in my wife's family... is ''heli-gunnertom'' the Christian name which you WILL use to introduce yourself to Him, after death?

They were poor vietnamese peasants, weakened by French colonialism, no health care, no career - no travel, of course, to compare with foreign solutions!!! But a very deep respect for their ancestors' honourable traditions.

How did they threaten your country? What is the ''pacific'' way out from dictatorship you could offer them, to expect a decent future for their children?

That ugly war was not your fault, indeed. But Jesus said "What you are doing to the smallest, to my humblest creatures, you are doing it to me".

And 33 years later, babies are still being born as MONSTERS, terrifying monsters, some of them with 2 HEADS and no arms... it is expected to last 50 more years. Did God instruct YOU to bring unending punishment to people who were NOT your enemies?

Yes, you look like being generous, a good listener, how could you choose to maintain such an aggressive name/reputation? Please, do leave that for brutal borderline racist desperados, and you will become a real gentleman.

Hugo, buddy,
I don't have sufficient space in this 'comment forum' to set you straight on some erroneous aspects of YOUR comment. And just like I figured, YOUR 'web site' doesn't exist-- "no profile available !!" That tells me that you are a coward who strikes a sneak blow and then disappears quickly beneath the rock you live under...Ha! I could indeed change the name of my Journal and maybe I should. Actually, I now call it "Old Soldier Tom's Journal." -- from my old AOL Journal days. That was a real mess and I was 'stuck' with 'heli-gunner Tom's blogspot.'
But I doubt you were in the military, or you would KNOW that young soldiers of ANY nation take an Oath to serve and protect their country. And just what does a 19 year old really know except that he trusts that his country will do the 'right thing.'
Yes, I HATE what our country did, like poisoning the people, yours and mine with Agent Orange! Remember, that is the Administration that YOU helped elect! I was not 'old enough to vote yet.' Too bad you are not man enough to give me your email address so that we can discuss this subject in depth and I will tell you what the Viet Cong and NVA did to the Vietnamese people and our soldiers in the way of torture, murder, mutilation, etc. Soldiers of the Lord God were instructed to kill off whole nations of men, women and kids in the Bible, for the Lord said that they were that evil and rotten to the core. I will be more than glad to discuss politics and military operations with you ANYTIME when you get your manhood back in order to give me your full name and email address. I NEVER FIRED ON ANYONE UNLESS THEY FIRED ON ME FIRST, AND I NEVER DROPPED ANY AGENT ORANGE... but I have plenty of close friends who are dying of it! Until you work up your courage and get your facts straight-- go fly a kite.

Bravo Tom. It's sad when people will read one small part of a blog and believe they know the person who authors it. I don't doubt the vioetnam war, or any other war for that matter, has caused great harm to people- BUT, when you think of atrocities which are avoided by going militarily against dictators and brutal rejemes, well, I don't like war and I don't know anyone who does- but I know and millions of others know that it is sometimes necessary. If I wanted to play the same game mr. Hugo is playing, I could make the assumption that he is one of millions who picks and chooses which parts of the Bible which suit him, and leave all the rest as something out dated and insignificant. However, I don't know mr. Hugo- so I won't assume anything except that he owes you and all of our soldiers- past present and future, a humble appology. God Bless you Tom. Thank you for who you are.

One of my best friends is a surgeon who served in the Gulf War and I guarantee you that the syndrome is real. If you've never played the game you just don't get it. It's easy to deny its existence when you sit your butt behind a desk in Washington and tell the players that it's not real. It's just like the agent orange deal...deny,deny,deny.

Dear Mr Schuckman,

A Buddhist, yes; your ''Buddy'', probably not.

1) Although I tried to stay polite after your proud crimes against my family;
You chose to insult me (''You are a coward''... deprived of manhood... ''work up your courage''... not man enough... ''go fly a kite...''). Very american attitude?!

2) False argument: I DID mention my e-mail address. And, there, I was informed of your noble comment (if you did not know, just blame A.O.L. again, for the bad transmission, as you already blamed their "real mess").
But this is definitely out of the matter: A blog is made for expressing your most sincere convictions, completely, in the open, since YOU are not a coward.

3) False argument (inversely): I did NOT mention any website, this trumped-up quarrel is between you and yourself only. I do not hate you. Sorry for that unrest. Probably an excess of zealous Love?

4) As your authentic buddy, the Charitable £ady with a bird of prey, stresses it, Yes, I consider as being outdated, the glorious killings which you refer to ("TO KILL OFF WHOLE NATIONS OF MEN, WOMEN AND KIDS"). The name, for this, is now Genocide.
I do excuse you because the u.s. were The LAST country on earth to ratify the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. On June 1st, 2008. Four years after the other members of The United Nations.

5) Unfortunately for you, who consider mass murder as a remedy against Evil And Rotten... you got a second buddy, with the same perfect Faith: His name is Ossama bin Laden.
He speaks your exact words.
He is not a Retired heli-gunner.
HE DOES HATE YOU.
HE FEELS PROUD OF YOUR NATIONAL PANIC.
It is his only goal in life!!!
And, so, he might truly kill you ALL, without blessed B52 bomber planes, without exquisite napalm jelly, without salutary cluster bombs, without sweet Agent Orange, without refreshing flame-throwers, without Biblical ''Bouncing Betty'' land mines etc... Nasty germs would do the job easily.
OF COURSE, THIS WOULD BE NO GALLANT FIGHT. But your own theory does help him to give free way to his barbarian hysteria, without the slightest remorse........... Are you really fond of martyrdom??? Are you obliged to plead for his crazy wrong-doings, in advance?

6) Regarding your Oath to serve and protect your country, I shall skip the theme of the Conscientious Objectors - since you already explained that you approve genocide: Typically, the massacre in the EVIL village of My Lai, under command of Lieutenant Calley. A ''Free Kill Zone''. Even invalid old people were slaughtered; AND evil, rotten babies, AND cattle, evil dogs and rotten poultry. How could you forget such monsters, in your list of masterworks?

But EVERYONE ON EARTH, NOWADAYS, IS FULLY AWARE OF THE LIE: The pentagon itself disclosed the case, recently. The ''Maddox'' destroyer was on duty, to provoke a battle at sea, to legitimate the war. But it did not take place.

So, now, to speak softly, no provocative words, I ''humbly apology'' to pray you: Would you, please, explain me, what 550.000 army men in Viêt Nam were PROTECTING in your country? Since you are NOT cowards, the threat surely was crystal clear, and terrible, to need 550.000 plus thousands of planes, helicopters - and twice as much ammunition load, compared with what Germany received during World War II. Good Lord, you survived The Rotten Evil Devil's total destruction of your country. And we still ignore the details.........!

As a matter of fact, YOU, personally, you rushed there, over the ocean, to respond because ''THEY fired on you FIRST'' (you are not a coward). And to show them the Love of God because you and the brave £ady cannot forgive Brutal Rejemes.
And they were so wicked, so vicious... they did not welcome Exterminating Angels with open arms!!

Yes, I humbly apologize, I am not able to kill kill kill as happily and proudly as you did (With No Brutality at all).
I swear it, I will no longer deny deny deny your sense of charitable sacrifice.

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

(B52 ''strategic'' bomber planes were blessed by Francis Joseph Cardinal Spellman, on the u.s.air force base of Bien Hoa, on Christmas eve, 1966. I saw him brilliantly smiling on television in Sài Gon, 10 miles away. And air force General Curtis Le May gently declared: "We shall bring Viêt Nam back to the stone age")

Tom- I don't want to write a whole post here, as it is your blog- and I know you wouldn't mind if I did lol, but I don't want it too long. As I said in my e mail to you, when I read Mr. Hugo's reply, I felt sad and pity for him, but a little anger too as the way it seems that you and your fellow comrades still have to live with certain lables (which I don't want to say now) you know what I mean. I just find it sad that you all fought over there when you were kids- following old men's orders. Same goes for today and every other war it seems. Kids fighting enemies which they can't identify because not many of them wear a uniform anymore. It was easier during WW2 I imagine as you could see a nazi, Japanese or italian by his uniform.
Mr. Hugo, I address this part mainly to you. Please know that in my words here, I mean no disrespect to you. I will say that I really don't know much about the Vietnam war. Just the basics of what I have seen and read in documentaries and history books. I believe that it was originally started by the French, and I don't know why- but I am not wanting a whole history lesson here now. I remember the end of the war, seeing as a young girl in Canada, the hundreds of thousands of refugees or the "boat people" as they were called back then. Thousands came to settle in and around Toronto, and I was aquainted with a few Vietnamese later in my life, although they never spoke about life back there- and I didn't want to be rude and ask.
I remember seeing the sad photos of children with burns caused by napalm, and of course that famous little girl who was so badly burned. She eventually came to America and personally forgave the soldiers for her suffering.
That's it. The extent of my knowlege there. I freely admit my ignorance when I don't know something, and I do try to learn up on subjects so I can be more knowlegeable, as I am one to believe that if people are ignorant about the past, we are doomed to repeat.
What I heard through your comment to my dear friend Tom, was a lot of pain and anger. Now, I am not meaning ANY disrespect here, please understand. I felt very sad for your loss, and I cannot remotely imagine losing friends or family members in such horrible and brutal ways. I hate war Mr. Hugo. I really do. I hate that there is so much evil and hatred in the world. It makes me sad and angry myself to see what humans do to one another. I am grieved to see pictures from the destruction of your beautiful country and it's people- your people. I am grieved as well when I see pictures of the nazi concentration camps- the millions of Jews and Christians who were gassed or shot and piled like cordwood in mass graves. It makes me sad to think of not only America's past mistakes, but of virtually every other nation's as well- and it is still happening all around the world. From African countries, to the middle east and Asia- people are being beaten and murdered for who they are, what tribe they belong or what religion they believe in.
My point here, what I am trying to say, in the most humble way, is that while I feel much pain from your words and I am truly sorry for your loss, it is something that has already unfortunately happened and can not be made right.
Let me please tell two stories to try and show you what I believe as a Bible believing Follower of Christ.
There was a lady named Corrie Ten Boom. She and her family lived in Holland when it was occupied by the nazis. Long story short, she, her elderly father, her older sister and other members of her family and many friends where arrested for hiding Jews. They were sent to Ravensbruk in Germany. Corrie was the only one out of her immediate family to survive. Her father died in a camp where she never got to see him again. Her sister died in the same camp. They were treated horribly. A few years after the war, Ms. Ten Boom met one of the nazi guards who had been at the camp, and she knew who he was, remembered his laughter when the women and children were made to strip naked and forced into the showers. She asked Jesus to help her forgive him, because knowing she was a Christian, it was the right thing to do, but she had a hard time getting over her anger at this man, who was now standing before her- as a new Christian convert. She did forgive him right then, and because of this, many, many people have seen the power of Christ through her actions and others like her.
Another story is one from the book I am reading right now called the "End of the Spear".
It is a true story, actually it's a second chapter of another true story which I read years ago called "Through the Gates of Splendor" which was an account of 5missionaries who were murdered in south America in the Amazon.
This second book is written by one of the missionaries son- Steve Saint. He talks about the love for the people who murdered his father and four others when he was a small boy. He has lived among the people who brutally murdered his father, seeing them come to repentance and salvation in Christ. He is part of their family, and they are part of his. He has long forgiven the men and are like brothers with them now.
You see, Mr. Hugo, there is a lot of evil in the world. What people mean for evil, or even out of ignorance, or corruptedness, when bad things happen- it is the response of those affected which determine other events. There are millions of examples, I have given only 2 extraordinary ones, but millions of victims and family of victims who realize that something evil has happened, but they change course of things by bringing forgiveness and something good out of it.
What some intend for evil, good can and does come of it. It is only what we determine which is good and right, or which is what our first gut instinct- which we choose.
I can not tell you to forgive others, because I have never had to walk in your shoes.
Please know that none of us Christians are perfect, and some are downright hard to believe they are a Christian. I am far from perfect, but I believe the Bible when it says that God, who began a good work in me, will perfect me and complete me some day. I know there is evil in the world, and that no one will be perfect, and we all make mistakes and do things we regret. Will we continue on in that, or seek forgiveness or forgive or will we choose to keep on in our own thoughts and emotions? There is evil in the world, and yes- you pointed to Osama in comparison with our radical religion.
There is a big difference between the two sir. Much more than what I can say here. For one, the God of the Bible is a loving, but righteous God. He knows the evil of all people's hearts, but love us so much that He sent His Only Son to take away our sins and wash us clean enough to have a Personal relationship with Him. We don't murder people for not believing in Christ. We are murdered for our belief though. Not only by muslims, but also by hindus and buddhists and others. Every day. People are beaten, jailed, persecuted, brought before judges and kings, spit on, mocked and martyred, only for our faith and belief in Christ. These people though forgive and love their persecutors- because Jesus teaches us that.
Others who know not the Whole Word- and Jesus IS The Word, don't know what it is to truly love one's neighbor or enemy. Other religions who know NOT Jesus, claim to be martyrs, but it is not a martyrs death when you take out as many others with you by murdering them with bombs and booby traps.
Christians do not murder those who choose not the Christ, but many other religions do.

You asked if we are willing to be martyrs- I suppose you believe that by answering yes, we could be compared to the likes of Bin Ladin. My answer is, no, I don't really want to be murdered by an evil person, but if someone threatens my life because of Christ- I would willingly give my life for Him. Not so I could further some cause or war. On the contrary, I would find it shameful to suffer for any other reason except for my love of Christ. I don't plan on blowing myself up in a crowd of women and children if that is your idea of martyrdom. No, I would only be willing to Glorify and Honor my Lord if I were to be murdered for my faith in Him. I would hope that my death would be a testament and change some hearts towards Him. That to me, is what a real martyr is.

As for your painfilled past and rememberances of your loved ones and the wrongs done, I can't tell you what to do, if you even want to do something- but if you are a peaceful and loving pacifist as you say you are, why don't you search your heart and open it to those who may or may not have had in the part of the atrocities, and learn to forgive and maybe find a way to help? After all, there are thousands of men who were once boys who may just be having the same horrible memories and nightmares you have. In the Words of my Lord and Savior- Peace I leave with you.

Tom- I appologize for the book I just posted! God Bless and peace to you as well my brother.

This Hugo individual is an interesting character. First, those poor peasants and children were setting boobytraps for our soldiers, throwing grenades at our soldiers, and shooting at them. Yes, it's tragic that so many died, as it is in any war. But it was the North Vietnamese THEMSELVES who were behind it. And, how did it threaten our country? I'll tell you. Our great country has always gone out of its way to defend people in other parts of the world against oppression, and in this case, a very cruel Communist regime as all Communist regimes are. Communism only offers poverty to the population, and controls everything. There's no going to the store & getting a loaf of bread unless the government OK's its sale, that is assuming one has the money to purchase it in the first place. Next, we were at war with the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union, otherwise known as Russia, has always had world domination as its chief goal as well as extending their empire so that they can have warm water ports. This latter conquests have been going on for centuries. Anyway, the Soviet Union was providing supplies to North Vietnam as well as intelligence on our troop movements, bomber approaches, etc. If Mr. Hugo wants to look at the source of the genocide, he needs only to go north - slow down some in North Vietnam & the Communist government, but keep going north - to Moscow. "French Colonialism" had nothing to do with it.

If Mr. Hugo is truly Vietnamese, it's a classic example of the propaganda of the Communists. Really something how it lines up with our own leftist news media propaganda, isn't it?
