Dangers of BUTYL.

Tom's Journal.

Anemia? Not considered that serious . . . people think

But it is ...if it is the ANEMIA that BUTYL causes

You can't just get some iron * and think that the blood forming organs will process it

and all is well

Check for autoimmune action on the kidneys * ... liver * ... *

The kidneys produce hormones that help build strong bones and help form red blood cells.

The kidney contains scattered cells that secrete erythropoietin,

a hormone essential for production of red blood cells.

"Anemia of prematurity occurs in premature infants at 2 to 6 weeks of age and results from diminished erythropoietin response to declining hematocrit levels. ... low serum levels of erythropoietin (EPO) Erythropoietin, or its alternative erythropoetin or EPO, is a glycoprotein hormone that controls erythropoiesis, or red blood cell production. It is a cytokine for erythrocyte (red blood cell) precursors in the bone marrow. Also called hematopoietin or hemopoietin, it is produced by the kidney, and is the hormone that regulates red blood cell production. It also has other known biological functions. For example, erythropoietin plays an important role in the brain's response to neuronal injury.[1] EPO is also involved in the wound healing process"

Look at the Red Blood Cells - Find the Anemia *

"The red blood cells become round-like, rather than hourglass shaped (an exaggeration of configuration. The change in shape is caused from the outer membrane becoming weakened, losing its ability to hold its elasticity."

16. Other MSDS Information on 2-butoxyethanol

NFPA Ratings: Health: 2 Flammability: 2 Reactivity: 0
Label Hazard Warning:

DANGER! HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED, INHALED OR ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. AFFECTS CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, BLOOD AND BLOOD-FORMING ORGANS, KIDNEYS, LIVER & LYMPHOID SYSTEM. COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID & VAPOR. MAY CAUSE IRRITATION TO SKIN AND RESPIRATORY TRACT.

Says the EPA / CA joint janitorial study:

"Glycol alkyl ethers are commonly used as solvents. 2-Butoxy Ethanol is one of the most toxic of the glycol ethers. You should use products containing butoxyethanol with extreme care. It is a poison that can easily absorb through your skin to harm you. When working with it, always wear gloves and goggles and be sure the you have enough ventilation." More probably exposure is vapors in one's eyes ... but NOT ingestion as is suspected by some MSDSs

Suspect a host of autoimmune issues

Exposure looks like the flu ... flatulence with diarrhea ... sometimes a cough ... 'the sniffles'

Clues to anemia: 'the chills' rapid heart beat, gasping for breath ... pale *

PLUS depression, headaches, short term memory loss... personality changes ... suicidal tendencies

Medical Surveillance: check

Consider the points of attack (liver, kidneys, lymphoid system, skin, blood, eyes, respiratory system) in placement and periodic physical examinations.

2-Butoxyethanol causes acute hemolytic anemia in rats

In F344 male rats, 2-butoxyethanol causes severe acute hemolytic anemia resulting in significant increase in the concentration of free plasma hemoglobin. Secondary to the hemolytic effects, 2-butoxyethanol also caused hemoglobinuria as well as histopathologic changes in the liver and kidney.

*Notes to Physician: Administration of Sodium bicarbonate may be of value to treat acidosis.

Monitor kidney and liver function and arterial blood gases closely.

VERY HIGH WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNTS * *
LEUKEMOID REACTION
Classically, in IMHA the stimulation of the bone marrow is so strong that even the white blood cells lines (which have very little to do with this disease but which also are born and incubate in the bone marrow along side the red blood cells) are stimulated.

This leads to white blood cell counts that are spectacularly high.

"I'm convinced that metabolic features (changes in cholesterol and lipid profile, changes in glucose uptake and cell use, mitochondrial diseases and so on) are among main underestimated issue of

This chemical can cause high or low blood sugar, high or low blood pressure; high or low body temp; High or low ... any glandular hormones - often thyroid with gall bladder issues prior; Horrible headaches; short term memory loss

Mexican Gangs Taking Over America !!!!!!!!!!

Hello Friends and Readers!
I was just reading 2nd Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. [10] But the day of the Lord will come like a thief..." For this reason and to magnify His holy name and glorify Himself-- THIS IS THE ONLY REASON THAT GOD HAS NOT SMOKED US YET. If this is so--our main priority in life as Christians is to PREACH, SHARE and WITNESS to everyone we can while we still have time! This is JOB ONE!
Well, it's been fun and exciting showing the spot light on that clown in the White House and the goofy, greedy, insane Dems [Dims..lol] who are trying to see how fast they can destroy our Republic by taking away ALL of our Freedoms and Constitutional Rights....and getting us as deep in debt as they can. But I am growing 'obama-weary' now and as our 'world ship' is going down with all the torpedoes sinking her, my eyes turn heaven-ward. Thank you all my friends for all your support and kindness in my struggles and tribulations. But even the worldly 'unbelieving' world of humanity can see the 'hand writing on the wall.' Yet, the majority of people still THINK that THEY can save the planet/ old system by forming a 'One World Gov't and Religion' with human hands and minds. This is pure folly, arrogance, stupidity and human pride, and the devil is behind the whole thing.

Watching the 3 ring circus here in the USA, we may not see that the rest of the world is going down the tube and Governments dissolving and overthrown--Pakistan and Mexico are about ready to implode with radical elements ready to step in and take over... even the good ones that I like.. Iceland, Greece, etc, and it won't take much to make the 'house of cards' fall down. It's like the 'torpedo' analogy I just mentioned; we may be able to still float with one explosion, but 2 or 3 will surely sink us. The world's greed, selfishness, corruption, violence, lawlessness are all bringing us down like a pack of wolves taking down a huge moose. I am still trying my best to be vocal, sign petitions, write my Congressmen and Senators, etc., for help in my fight against wrongs, and Gov't take overs, taxes, but I am just one, old, disabled man. Most others are too cowardly and lazy to get involved even as the 'Congress' itself sits on it's hands as we are being invaded on the Mexican border, in the market place, taxes, abortion and God haters, and the Gay agenda.

I also need to step up my witnessing with small Christian tracts and bibles that I hand out to everyday strangers, etc. I would love to participate in some "Tea Parties" just for fun and excitement..but I would have to be in my super power scooter.. lol. My 'Golden Avenger' that I had to pay for out of my own pocket, thanks for the corrupt VA, gives me so much more 'quality of life' and freedom as my arthritis and bad back/ knees get worse! But I still consider myself a rich man, of sorts... PTL!

I will not run with the herd of Obama worshipers or Lemmings who have not the brains to follow the scriptures and promises of God Almighty. Join me if you like and we can put our heads together in a 'think tank' to form some sort of co-operative for survival-- saving our money and resources, helpful hints and ideas about taxes, 'do it yourself' home make things as the 'storm' continues to make things more rough. Prayers are key and essential. We "ain't seen nothin' yet !" The short books of 1st and 2nd Peter are so exciting and profitable for us right now. I can read both of them in a half hour! This is timely information as we move into our 'life boats' and hunker down-- but also continuing the preaching/ witnessing activity.

Only 17 degrees F. in Wisconsin today/ this morning and my wife is still in bed at 11:11 AM. I filled up my truck with gas yesterday for about $1.83/gallon and I sure expect that precious commodity to rise back to $4/gal this Summer.. but I hope I am wrong. I dread Tax time as things get so complicated that the Congress can't figure it out either...Ha! They could NOT HAVE READ the 'Pork Bill" either before 'Messiah' signed it!! Where are the 'TEA PARTIES' ?? Where are the red blooded Americans? One thing for sure is that Obama and the 'Dims' want to strip all combat Veterans of their Right to bear Arms, and I personally know that many would rather die or go to jail rather than let that happen. Many Vets are already dying from Agent Orange and diabetes so they probably figure that dying for a righteous cause would be preferable than living like a beaten slave to that monkey in the White House.

The Foundation of My Faith

Posted: 28 Feb 2009 07:51 AM PST

By Todd StrandbergIt is absolutely vital for believers to have a solid understanding of why they are members of the Christian faith. Millions of people think they are part of the body of Christ, but they have no idea what it really means to be saved. I've known dozens of people who confessed to be Christians for a time, but who later simply wandered away from the flock. It is like their faith in

Revival or Rapture?

By Todd Strandberg

It is becoming very clear that the world is facing a time of economic peril that has not been seen in two generations. In all my years of watching current events, I've never seen headlines warning about the possibility of the whole financial system disintegrating into chaos. These dire reports are not from a supermarket tabloid. They are from some of the most respected news organizations in the land.

I firmly believe that God is in control of all events. Governments around the world have pledged $2 trillion dollars to try to stabilize the global economic meltdown, and still it continues to slide. The stakes have become so desperately grim, I see only two possible outcomes from the viewpoint of a believer: God is either using the economic crisis to bring about a great revival, or He is soon going to rapture the Church home and begin the tribulation countdown.

It is my view that we are headed for the second option. I would love to see revival break out, but I don't believe it is possible at this stage. Some of my friends hold to the view that the Lord is going to pour out a “latter rain” revival. Some other folks believe the Church is going to take over this world for Christ. I just don't see the Bible pointing to such a positive outcome.

I know there have been countless revivals throughout the Church Age. Here is a list of eight that stand out as having the greatest impact:

THE PRE-REFORMATION REVIVAL 1300-1500Lollards, Wycliffe, Hus, Savonarola
REFORMATION 1517 - 1560Huldrych Zwingli, Martin Luther, John Calvin
THE FIRST GREAT AWAKENING 1740 - 1745Howell Harris, John Wesley, George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, David Brainerd,
THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING 1798 - 1832Charles Finney, Asahel Nettleton, Lyman Beecher, Duncan Matheson
THE LAYMAN'S REVIVAL 1857-1861Phoebe Palmer, Lanphier, D. L. Moody
THE GREAT WELSH REVIVAL OF 1904Evan Roberts, Rees Howells
THE ASUZA STREET REVIVAL OF 1906W. J. Seymour, Frank Bartleman
THE JESUS MOVEMENT 1967 - 1973

The first thing that makes revival hard to grasp as a possibility now is the Word of God's repeated mention of spiritual darkness as the hallmark of the last days. Several prophetic passages describe the last days as a time of great apostasy. Here are two examples:

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition " (2 Thess. 2:3).

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect" (Matt. 24:24).
Another potential obstacle to a revival is the fact we are in the Laodicean Age. Dr. David Reagan recently gave a good outline of how the seven churches described in Revelation, chapters 2 and 3, present a prophetic view of Church history:

“The last of the churches mentioned, the one that represents the Church of the end times, is the church at Laodicea. It is pictured as a church that is neither hot (healing) nor cold (refreshing), but rather is lukewarm or tepid (Rev. 3:15-16). In short, it is a church that is apathetic. Jesus also pictures it as a worldly church enamored with its wealth (Rev. 3:17). The Lord is so dissatisfied with this church that He declares, 'Because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth'" (Rev. 3:16).
I think the greatest case against revival is man's growing immunity to repentance. You can look at the above list of historic revivals and see how they diminish in number and scale over the years. A key problem is that revival today means getting something from God. The people who flocked to the so-called revivals at the Toronto Airport Vineyard Christian Fellowship and Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola were mostly looking for an emotional or physical blessing. A decade later, it's hard to argue with the simple fact that these events have been marked as questionable practices, and have had nearly zero impact on society.

In the revivals of the past, saints were given their marching orders to reach the lost for Christ. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church , was very direct about how to win souls:

"You have nothing to do but to save souls. Therefore spend and be spent in this work. And go always, not only to those that want you, but to those that want you most. It is not your business to preach so many times, and to take care of this or that society; but to save as many souls as you can; to bring them to repentance, and with all your power to build them up in holiness without which they cannot see the Lord."
The world will see revival. In fact, the Bible predicts a future revival that will put all others to shame. Once millions of people realize they were not rapture ready, they will find true faith. The sink-or-swim condition of the tribulation will cause many to quickly reach a level of dedication where they are willing to sacrifice their lives for the Gospel.

We Christians on this side of the rapture need to be doing everything we can to advance the Kingdom of God. Because we won't have the luxury of being able to tell the Lord we were willing suffer martyrdom for our faith, we need to take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way.

Lies - The Knickerbockers

My cleaning lady came today as scheduled for 3 hours of hard work, cleaning and organizing, and I had my wife sit near her to watch how she makes more room and frees up more space in our smaller, humble old farm house in the sticks. Personally, I think it just takes some common sense-- but everyone has their own way and ideas. I am happy with the work, farmed out by the Milwaukee VA, Social Services, and very appreciative! It sure helps us by taking the edge off bending down to scrub and clean in hard to get areas. PTL!

I really don't know why we wasted an hour last night watching obama on TV with all his BS, lies and deceptions but was pleased to see the Republicans sitting on their butts instead of worshiping the 'Messiah.' Don't you just want to tie and gag Nancy Pelosi, watching her spring to her feet and jumping a yard into the air as a cheer leader at a Satanic ritual...lol? I know those are strong words but she has done her very best to drive God out of the picture and promote abortion and the Gay agenda! And rewarding the goof up- home buyers for over spending too much on their dream houses figuring that WE TAXPAYERS WILL BAIL THEM OUT to get a better deal and lower interest seems very unfair and morally wrong! What about the other 90% of us who struggle and save to pay the mortgage on time and make IT the main priority of our asset management?? It that the way we should teach our young-- with no responsibility or sound reasoning ?? My readers and I pretty much know what 'type/ class of people have been living off the public tit for the past 4 generations...and now Messiah is going to "REWARD" them for being delinquent, greedy and stupid..Ha! I'd better change subjects --as I just ate lunch.

I don't want to complain today, because things are going well for us today and it looks like we may have some extra money after paying the bills, even before payday, on the 1st of the month. Just like in the Army, you have got to make that paycheck last for 30 days. I always "front load" my bill paying and knock out 90% of the 'primary target.' No matter who holds the purse strings in the marriage, the worst thing for me is to overdraft and come up short, in my humble opinion. I am trying to get some red meat and nutrition into my wife as she is planning for a serious open heart surgery soon, so I bought her some sirloin steaks this morning. The largest grocery store in Wisconsin is not far from us, Woodman's-- employee owned, on Highway 50 and I-94 in Kenosha County. I drive my pick up there and off load my speedy power scooter-- as my arthritic knees and back would be screaming at me if I had to walk. I got some great bargains there, as usual, to stock up for the "storm."
We try to do all the hard work and shopping in the morning-- so that when we are fatigued and sore, we can just sit down and enjoy TV, PC, Bible study or companionship.

May I confide in my 'inner core' of close friends...It's a fact that Vietnam Vets were 'afraid' to make friends in combat, lest it hurt too much if they got killed. We lost 3 and 13 wounded in the wee hours of the morning in one day out of my company-- first tour in Vietnam from a rocket attack. [I will never know if all those young men knew the Lord Jesus and were SAVED, at their moment of death... I certainly didn't know the Lord or was Saved while I was over there, but God loved and protected ME, IMHO.] Still, I have some very good comrades in arms to this day that I keep in touch with. The same fear is self evident now. Having ups and downs with marital challenges, my wife and I are finally getting along better with better communications and the Holy Spirit helping us. But now I worry about losing her in death and that would bring much sorrow to me. Since I been at the current church for the past 7 years, there have been many deaths. They/ we just get old and die, and I assume that most of them are in heaven now with no pain or sorrow. It's just a fact of life that encourages me to try harder not to judge others-- for we are all mortal humans.

I heard this tale from an anonymous source that he had seen a h
andwritten sign, posted over one of those "hot air hand dryers":

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.

Anti-gun Land Bill Moving Again
-- Gun control should be stripped from the legislation

Monday, February 23, 2009

An alert last week asked you to urge your representative to oppose a massive land bill that was scheduled to come before the full House at any time.

The good news is that opposition to the bill grew so loud that the leadership pulled it from the calendar so they would have more time to muster enough votes to pass it.

Well, that also gives you another chance to contact your own representative to tell him to OPPOSE the anti-Second Amendment Omnibus Land Act. The bill, S. 22, is now scheduled to be voted on this week.

S.22 is a mammoth bill comprised of over 190 separate pieces of legislation and will come to the floor with a rule that will not allow pro-gun representatives to offer amendments.

There are serious Second Amendment concerns with this legislation. S. 22 will greatly expand the amount of land controlled by the National Park Service (NPS). Because the rights of lawful gun owners are restricted on NPS land, the bill will create even more "anti-Second Amendment" zones.

In contrast to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service, which allow State and local laws to govern firearms possession, NPS land was until recently subject to a complete gun ban.

In the waning days of his administration, President Bush partially reversed the ban, but that half-way measure still leaves a significant portion of the gun prohibition in place. Gun Owners of America has fought for several years to fully repeal the NPS regulations, but those efforts have been hampered by the anti-gun leadership of both the House and Senate.

GOA opposes many parts of the bill that are controversial and have not been debated on their individual merits.

Consider just a few provisions of the 1,294-page bill:

* Section 2002 codifies the National Landscape Conservation System, which groups together 26 million acres of federal land and places it under one umbrella agency. The NLCS was created during the Clinton administration and run administratively since that time. S. 22 will make the system permanent, raising concerns for hunters and sportsmen. Much of this land is consolidated from the BLM and the Forest Service, which have always allowed hunting and recreational shooting. It is unclear what rules will be promulgated by the new agency and if gun owners' rights will be protected at all.

* Section 5204 of the bill establishes the Washington-Rochambeau Route as a Historic Trail. This dual trail begins in Rhode Island and travels 650 miles to Yorktown, Virginia. The trail includes parts of major thoroughfares on the east coast such as Interstate 95 and US Route 1, meaning the gun ban could effect hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting gun owners each day.

* Section 5301 authorizes the federal government to buy private land adjacent to national parks and trails. Such land would be controlled by the NPS, and thus be subject to the agencies' anti-gun regulations.

* Section 7002 makes the birthplace of William Jefferson Clinton a National Historic Site. Well, perhaps it's fitting that the legacy of former President Clinton, who was responsible for so many anti-Second Amendment laws, will include yet another "gun free" zone.

In all, the bill designates over 2 million acres of wilderness, establishes three new national parks, a new national monument, three new national conservation areas, and four new national trails.

If there are parts of the bill that could stand on their own, they should be brought up separately and dealt with in an open and fair process -- and not used as bargaining chips in exchange for compromises of your Second Amendment rights.

Some people on Capitol Hill contend that all of these bills already passed the House anyway. In fact, no they haven't. More than 70 of these bills now before the House were only passed by the Senate. The House of Representatives never even held hearings or open debate on these measures.

Representative Rob Bishop (R-UT) has indicated that he wants to at least have the opportunity to offer an amendment to ensure that the Second Amendment rights of all Americans are protected.

However, right now it looks as though the anti-gun House leadership will refuse to allow any amendments to the bill, in order to ensure that it goes straight to President Obama's desk.

There is a possibility that an amendment to protect only hunting and recreational shooting on federal land would be allowed. Such an amendment by itself is not sufficient and is clearly designed as a "cover" vote for gun rights compromisers.

Please contact your representative and urge him or her to insist that an amendment be allowed to protect ALL of your Second Amendment rights -- not just hunting and recreational shooting.

ACTION: Please urge your Representative oppose S. 22. You can use the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center to send your Representative the pre-written e-mail message below.

----- Prewritten Letter -----

Dear Representative:

I urge you to oppose S. 22. Among the many problems with this 1,294-page bill are the following concerns gun owners have:

* Section 2002 codifies the National Landscape Conservation System, which groups together 26 million acres of federal land and places it under one umbrella agency. The NLCS was created during the Clinton administration and run administratively since that time. S. 22 will make the system permanent, raising concerns for hunters and sportsmen. Much of this land is consolidated from the BLM and the Forest Service, which have always allowed hunting and recreational shooting. Trust NOT in Humans.

Tom's Journal.
http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/
tschuckman@aol.com

Some of us are just slow learners, 'too nice', or unrealistic. By this I mean, we humans tend to trust other humans more than we trust God Almighty, IMHO.... and as I have learned the hard way, first hand, your so-called friends and 'Christian brothers' WILL most definitely let you down time and time again. And there will surely be "cliques, clans and dynasties" in a church-- but we are only human.
It seemed like in the "good old days" when I was growing up and our elders/ parents instilled in us the important value of keeping your word/ your promise no matter what happened. Now days, it's a 'me first' generation, ME , ME , ME, my needs and desires and comfort level FIRST ! A person's Word, Promise, Agreement, Contract mean NOTHING anymore! No honor, no dignity, 'good is bad, and bad is good.' And as the common man/ person looks up at the Congress, Big Business and the President and sees them all LIE through their teeth all the time and break their promises as soon as they get elected-- some of us may feel [Under the heading,lie-- see Il Gov. Blago] that it's OK! As I occasionally cite 2nd Timothy 3:1-17, "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, (3.) unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good..... etc" -- and that's only a small part of the prophesy on the 'end times' that we are in RIGHT NOW! Now... just turning age 60 and knowing the bible well, I should have known these things! Yet, as the 'Satanic spirit of the world' has surely permeated many 'Christian churches' recently, I should have NOT expected some of my co-called 'friends' even from church to help me in my time of need and sorrow [even as I actually stood up at the Church Bible study this past Sunday morning and explained]. Perish the thought that any of them should give up their comfort for an hour or two to reach out to me when my little world was crumbling and I need some support...Ha!

I bet some of you out there will say that 'Old Soldier Tom' sounds bitter, revengeful, or even un-Christian today-- but I am not. I want to prepare my real friends to remember that these very things WILL and MUST happen, with 'false brothers and sisters' who claim to be 'our friends.' In fact, some of the 'elect'/ the Saints will be tempted and fail/ sin. Our own family and circle of friends will betray us [Matt. 10 ], thinking that they can get ahead, gain influence with the ruling majority of God-haters and Liberal Lefty idiots in power. I see all of them as very short sighted and myopic, stupid, because God is not far away and He sees everything and everybody, and He doesn't forget. This is NOT the time for Tom-foolery nor sleep!

My close Bible friends, writers, Christian Bloggers, journalists, and folks like Glenn Beck, and all serious Bible students who love Jesus KNOW that all it would take is a few disasters, like: Israel bombing Iran or Syria to put the 'ball in motion' and ignite the world fire! Mexico and Pakistan are power kegs-- but our so-called Dem controlled "News Media" deliberately chooses not to talk about this reality and 'flash points.' In the mean time, back in D.C. it's a big cover up and business as usual, with all the corrupt PORK, theft and stupid spending that we cannot afford. And half of the U.S. citizens feel over whelmed and powerless against 'Goliath' and just throw up their hands and quit fighting for what they know is right. They are weak cowards, IMHO, and Chrisians must never be cowards... see Rev. 21:8-- Cowards.

Have you ever really exerted yourself and took a chance on joining something BIG or hard to do? When I was in high school, I wanted to do something special with my life and reach out for something greater than myself. Having not the correct amount of money I was so depressed that I could not attend college even after several accepted me-- so I joined the Army, knowing that they would indeed "educate" me in many ways, and then perhaps I could attend college afterward. Well, it didn't turn out quite like I planned, but some other great things happened.... I eventually found GOD, AND LEARNED HIS WILL FOR ME! What could be MORE important in life? Especially when we consider that we are only here on earth for 70-90 years on average-- and ETERNITY is forever. Half of my life was spent on finding the REAL truth and meaning of life, working hard to support my family and accumulating a few toys and property. And I personally know that people like my brother who is a skilled tradesman who always paid cash for near everything and hoarded hills of money-- who now questions 'what do I have to show for all those years of hard work' along with an 'identity crisis' and 'what can I look forward to now as I am nearing the end of my life?'
I have tried to share my hope of salvation thru Christ-- and heaven with him many times/ years--when he seldom listened but mostly laughed at me.. lol, and now he is a very bitter man with no hope for the future or present and he is afraid to retire. He and his family are, of course, dysfunctional and Bible illiterate, like most of the world.
Hard, active life that I had-- I can still be happy and joyful now and for the future! My main concern is, "how long do I have to serve the Lord on earth and how much more can I accomplish for His Kingdom?" Phil. 1:21 sums up my wish: "For to me, To live is Christ, And to die is gain." I totally understand that to most people on earth, that scripture/ statement sounds completely absurd and foolish. But then, I have never wanted to 'run with the herd' anyway.

Well, we got much accomplished today, but my wife is feeling so tired as her heart is pumping only 1/3 as much as it should, and she is constantly tired and breathless. I told her that she should just relax today and use her Oxygen concentrator-- and I will wait on her. I think that this is the way is should be-- taking turns caring for each other as we both go down that road old age and infirmities. I found out that I love her more than ever--even though we have problems and challenges, and I learned a lot about myself these past few weeks-- and what I need to work on as a husband and man.
The answer to my initial question is: 'Put your trust NOT in man/ humans-- but in God alone.' And that way you won't be let down and disappointed so much.
As I discussed with my wife, we think that we ought to find a church closer to us that preaches the Bible--and with more real fellowship. And we already think we know where.

Warm Regards,
Tom

Vietnam Facts vs. Fiction

For over 30 years I, like many Vietnam veterans, seldom spoke of Vietnam, except with other veterans, when training soldiers, and in public speeches. These past five years I have joined the hundreds of thousands who believe it is high time the truth be told about the Vietnam War and the people who served there. It's time the American people learn that the United States military did not lose the War, and that a surprisingly high number of people who claim to have served there, in fact, DID NOT.
As Americans, support the men and women involved in the War on Terrorism. The mainstream media is once again working tirelessly to undermine their efforts and force a psychological loss or stalemate for the United States. We cannot stand by and let the media do to today's warriors what they did to us 35 years ago.
Below are some assembled facts most readers will find interesting. It isn't a long read, but it will....I guarantee....teach you some things you did not know about the Vietnam War and those who served, fought, or died there. Please share it with those with whom you communicate.

Vietnam War Facts:
Facts, Statistics, Fake Warrior Numbers, and Myths Dispelled

9,087,000 (Million) military personnel served on active duty during the official Vietnam era from August 5, 1964 to May 7, 1975.
2,709,918 Americans served in uniform in Vietnam
Veterans represented 9.7% of their generation.
240 men were awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War

1. The first man to die in Vietnam was James Davis, in 1958. He was with the 509th Radio Research Station. Davis Station in Saigon was named for him.

2. 58,148 were killed in Vietnam

3. 75,000 were severely disabled.

4. 23,214 were 100% disabled.

5. 5,283 lost limbs.

6. 1,081 sustained multiple amputations.

7. Of those killed, 61% were younger than 21.

8. 11,465 of those killed were younger than 20 years old.

9. Of those killed, 17,539 were married.

10. Average age of men killed: 23.1 years.

11. Five men killed in Vietnam were only 16 years old.

12. The oldest man killed was 62 years old.

13. As of January 15, 2004, there are 1,875 Americans still unaccounted for from the Vietnam War.

14. 97% of Vietnam Veterans were honorably discharged.

15. 91% of Vietnam Veterans say they are glad they served.

16. 74% say they would serve again, even knowing the outcome.

17. Vietnam veterans have a lower unemployment rate than the same non-vet age groups.

18. Vietnam veterans' personal income exceeds that of our non-veteran age group by more than 18 percent.

19. 87% of Americans hold Vietnam Veterans in high esteem.

20. There is no difference in drug usage between Vietnam Veterans and non-Vietnam Veterans of the same age group (Source: Veterans Administration Study)

21. Vietnam Veterans are less likely to be in prison - only one-half of one percent of Vietnam Veterans have been jailed for crimes.

22. 85% of Vietnam Veterans made successful transitions to civilian life.

23. Interesting Census Stats and "Been There" Wanabees:

a. 1,713,823 of those who served in Vietnam were still alive as of August, 1995 (census figures).
b. During that same Census count, the number of Americans falsely claiming to have served in-country was: 9,492,958.

24. As of the current Census taken during August, 2000, the surviving U.S. Vietnam Veteran population estimate is: 1,002,511. This is hard to believe, losing nearly 711,000 between '95 and '00. That's 390 per day.

24. During this Census count, the number of Americans falsely claiming to have served in-country is: 13,853,027. By this census, FOUR OUT OF FIVE WHO CLAIM TO BE Vietnam vets are not.

25. The Department of Defense Vietnam War Service Index officially provided by The War Library originally reported with errors that 2,709,918 U.S. Military personnel as having served in-country. Corrections and confirmations to this erroneous index resulted in the addition of 358 U.S. Military personnel confirmed to have served in Vietnam but not originally listed by the Department of Defense. (All names are currently on file and accessible 24/7/365).

26. Isolated atrocities committed by American Soldiers produced torrents of outrage from anti-war critics and the news media while Communist atrocities were so common that they received hardly any media mention at all. The United States sought to minimize and prevent attacks on civilians while North Vietnam made attacks on civilians a centerpiece of its strategy.

27. Americans who deliberately killed civilians received prison sentences while Communists who did so received commendations. From 1957 to 1973, the National Liberation Front assassinated 36,725 Vietnamese and abducted another 58,499. The death squads focused on leaders at the village level and on anyone who improved the lives o f the peasants such as medical personnel, social workers, and school teachers. - Nixon Presidential Papers.

Common Myths Dispelled:

#1. Myth: Common Belief is that most Vietnam veterans were drafted.
Fact: 2/3 of the men who served in Vietnam were volunteers. 2/3 of the men who served in World War II were drafted. Approximately 70% of those killed in Vietnam were volunteers.

#2. Myth: The media have reported that suicides among Vietnam veterans range from 50,000 to 100,000 - 6 to 11 times the non-Vietnam veteran population.
Fact: Mortality studies show that 9,000 is a better estimate. "The CDC Vietnam Experience Study Mortality Assessment showed that during the first 5 years after discharge, deaths from suicide were 1.7 times more likely among Vietnam veterans than non-Vietnam veterans. After that initial post-service period, Vietnam veterans were no more likely to die from suicide than non-Vietnam veterans. In fact, after the 5-year post-service period, the rate of suicides is less in the Vietnam veterans' group.

#3.Myth: Common belief is that a disproportionate number of blacks were killed in the Vietnam War.
Fact: 86% of the men who died in Vietnam were Caucasians, 12.5% were black, and 1.2% was other races. Sociologists Charles C. Moskos and John Sibley Butler, in their recently published book "All That We Can Be," said they analyzed the claim that blacks were used like cannon fodder during Vietnam "and can report definitely that this charge is untrue. Black fatalities amounted to 12 percent of all Americans killed in Southeast Asia, a figure proportional to the number of blacks in the U.S. Population at the time and slightly lower than the proportion of blacks in the Army at the close of the war."

#4 Myth: Common belief is that the war was fought largely by the poor and uneducated.
Fact: Servicemen who went to Vietnam from well-to-do areas had a slightly elevated risk of dying because they were more likely to be pilots or infantry officers. Vietnam Veterans were the best educated forces our nation had ever sent into combat. 79% had a high school education or better. Here are statistics from the Combat Area Casualty File (CACF) as of November 1993. The CACF is the basis for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall): Average age of 58,148 killed in Vietnam was 23.11 years. (Although 58,169 names are in the Nov. 93 database, only 58,148 have both event date and birth date. Event date is used instead of declared dead date for some of those who were listed as missing in action) Deaths Average Age Total: 58,148, 23.11 years Enlisted: 50,274, 22.37 years Officers: 6,598, 28.43 years Warrants: 1,276, 24.73 years E1 525, 20.34 years 11B MOS: 18,465, 22.55 years

#5 Myth: The common belief is the average age of an infantryman fighting in Vietnam was 19.
Fact: Assuming KIAs accurately represented age groups serving in Vietnam, the average age of an infantryman (MOS 11B) serving in Vietnam to be 19 years old is a myth, it is actually 22. None of the enlisted grades have an average age of less than 20. The average man who fought in World War II was 26 years of age.

#6 Myth: The Common belief is that the domino theory was proved false.
Fact: The domino theory was accurate. The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand stayed free of Communism because of the U.S. commitment to Vietnam. The Indonesians threw the Soviets out in 1966 because of America’s commitment in Vietnam. Without that commitment, Communism would have swept all the way to the Malacca Straits that is south of Singapore and of great strategic importance to the free world. If you ask people who live in these countries that won the war in Vietnam, they have a different opinion from the American news media. The Vietnam War was the turning point for Communism.

#7 Myth: The common belief is that the fighting in Vietnam was not as intense as in World War II.
Fact: The average infantryman in the South Pacific during World War II saw about 40 days of combat in four years. The average infantryman in Vietnam saw about 240 days of combat in one year thanks to the mobility of the helicopter. One out of every 10 Americans who served in Vietnam was a casualty.. 58,148 were killed and 304,000 wounded out of 2.7 million who served. Although the percent that died is similar to other wars, amputations or crippling wounds were 300 percent higher than in World War II ....75,000 Vietnam veterans are severely disabled. MEDEVAC helicopters flew nearly 500,000 missions. Over 900,000 patients were airlifted (nearly half were American). The average time lapse between wounding to hospitalization was less than one hour. As a result, less than one percent of all Americans wounded, who survived the first 24 hours, died. The helicopter provided unprecedented mobility. Without the helicopter it would have taken three times as many troops to secure the 800 mile border with Cambodia and Laos (the politicians thought the Geneva Conventions of 1954 and the Geneva Accords or 1962 would secure the border).

#8 Myth: Kim Phuc, the little nine year old Vietnamese girl running naked from the napalm strike near Trang Bang on 8 June 1972.....shown a million times on American television....was burned by Americans bombing Trang Bang.
Fact: No American had involvement in this incident near Trang Bang that burned Phan Thi Kim Phuc. The planes doing the bombing near the village were VNAF (Vietnam Air Force) and were being flown by Vietnamese pilots in support of South Vietnamese troops on the ground. The Vietnamese pilot who dropped the napalm in error is currently living in the United States. Even the AP photographer, Nick Ut, who took the picture, was Vietnamese. The incident in the photo took place on the second day of a three day battle between the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) who occupied the village of Trang Bang and the ARVN (Army of the Republic of Vietnam) who were trying to force the NVA out of the village. Recent reports in the news media that an American commander ordered the air strike that burned Kim Phuc are incorrect. There were no Americans involved in any capacity. "We (Americans) had nothing to do with controlling VNAF," according to Lieutenant General (Ret) James F. Hollingsworth, the Commanding General of TRAC at that time. Also, it has been incorrectly reported that two of Kim Phuc's brothers were killed in this incident. They were Kim's cousins not her brothers.

#9 Myth: The United States lost the war in Vietnam.
Fact: The American military was not defeated in Vietnam. The American military did not lose a battle of any consequence. From a military standpoint, it was almost an unprecedented performance. General Westmoreland quoting Douglas Pike, a professor at the University of California, Berkley a major military defeat for the VC and NVA.
FACT: THE UNITED STATES DID NOT LOSE THE WAR IN VIETNAM, THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE DID. Read on........
The fall of Saigon happened 30 April 1975, two years AFTER the American military left Vietnam. The last American troops departed in their entirety 29 March 1973.
FACT: How could we lose a war we had already stopped fighting? We fought to an agreed stalemate. The peace settlement was signed in Paris on 27 January 1973.

* It called for release of all U.S. prisoners, withdrawal of U.S. forces, limitation of both sides' forces inside South Vietnam and a commitment to peaceful reunification.

*The 140,000 evacuees in April 1975 during the fall of Saigon consisted almost entirely of civilians and Vietnamese military, NOT American military running for their lives.

*There were almost twice as many casualties in Southeast Asia (primarily Cambodia) the first two years after the fall of Saigon in 1975 then there were during the ten years the U.S. was involved in Vietnam.

*Thanks for the perceived loss and the countless assassinations and torture visited upon Vietnamese, Laotians, and Cambodians goes mainly to the American media and their undying support-by-misrepresentation of the anti-War movement in the United States.

*As with much of the Vietnam War, the news media misreported and misinterpreted the 1968 Tet Offensive. It was reported as an overwhelming success for the Communist forces and a decided defeat for the U.S. Forces. Nothing could be further from the truth. Despite initial victories by the Communists forces, the Tet Offensive resulted in a major defeat of those forces. General Vo Nguyen Giap, the designer of the Tet Offensive, is considered by some as ranking with Wellington, Grant, Lee and MacArthur as a great commander. Still, militarily, the Tet Offensive was a total defeat of the Communist forces on all fronts. It resulted in the death of some 45,000 NVA troops and the complete, if not total destruction of the Viet Cong elements in South Vietnam. The Organization of the Viet Cong Units in the South never recovered. The Tet Offensive succeeded on only one front and that was the News front and the political arena. This was another example in the Vietnam War of an inaccuracy becoming the perceived truth. However, inaccurately reported, the News Media made the Tet Offensive famous.
