Your Crown in Heaven

Posted: 10 Jul 2009 09:15 AM PDT

By Nathan Jones. The question of which crown one thinks they'll receive in Heaven was put to the reader in April's poll titled "Which crown will you receive in Heaven?" The 581 respondents cast their vote from among a number of varieties of crowns. The results not only showed a wide range of opinions as to what crown each thinks will be bestowed upon them by Jesus Christ in Heaven, but also showed...

I brought up this new subject also posted in the last post because I wanted to show you all how a man's mindset and priorities change down the road/ years, as maturity and love grow. I used to think that it would be enough to just GET to Heaven! And I remembered things taught in school and the Army, that you get out of something as much as you put into something. The more you study and learn about one set subject-- the better off and smarter you become! Why not test yourself to see what kind of balance, proper motivation, hard work can do for your effort? I am afraid that I was just an 'average student' in high school, but I did much better in college when I had to pay for my own education... LOL. My Dad used to tell me that a man will usually piss away the money that he never worked for, but when he has to work hard and long-- he spends/ invests the money judiciously. And many folks never do learn that reality' principle about money--because our American Gov't just hands out welfare $$$ out to so-called 'poor people' in our 'Nanny Sate.' It began, IMHO. with Prez LBJ with his 'Great Society' thing-- where he meant well, trying to help the poor have a better life-- but it back fired and now what we have in the USA is 4th and 5th Generation Welfare people who think that the Gov't OWE's them a living-- who NEVER worked, don't believe in marriage, but just have lots of kids out of wedlock so they can get more money from Welfare. Most folks in the farm/ country area where I grew up had/ were raised with a "hard work ethic" and we enjoyed working hard for our own little place [house, farm, truck] in the sun, trying to get ahead and educated, on God's green earth. But I don't want to turn this into a sermon-- just a common 'touch point' to share with others. I know that I will never change most peoples' mind about how they choose to live or continue to suck the Gov't breast.. our hard earned tax dollars.

The commonality of departing this world [death], sooner or latter, especially in violent times, even on some college campus has got to be in most peoples' minds, so that we should walk in Faith and not by Sight. Still enjoying/ reading the book, "The Treasure Principle, ~ by Randy Alcorn, talks about all the scriptures that encourage 'laying up [investing/ storing/ saving] our Treasures in HEAVEN', where moth nor rust cannot consume. And this also includes being kind and generous to people in our every day walk of life. However, we MUST do this for the RIGHT motive-- pure love of God who SAVED US from hell eternal by His Blood Sacrifice! The expanded article below mirrors what Randy Alcorn's book says in many ways. I never knew that there were so many kinds of 'heavenly crowns!!'

I came to find/ know the Lord Jesus Christ latter in life, and also coming out of a nasty religious cult after some 22 years, PRAISE THE LORD. And then it took me a long time to work out all the immaturity, pride and sin from my former life, so that I figure I am finally on the right road with full knowledge and love for Christ NOW-- in 2009!
Now... I can cry over that and feel sorry for myself-- or I can get my butt moving at double time to try and see how fast I can play 'catch up' even as I am disabled. I hope that this message finds the hearts of other men, women and children to learn from my folly as a young person. Hey! As a young person and also looking back on my life in the 'worldly' sense, I was an OK guy and achieved quite a bit!! Medals, saving a few people's lives, citations, certificates, plaques on the walk, pictures, investments, retirement, many friends, and 'good deeds, ' are a testament to my life long hard work and sacrifices. But in Heaven-- they have no value-- no meaning!

I kind of put Bible giants, men of God, teachers of the Bible, MARTYRS, missionaries, kind, benevolent Christian heroes, on the top of the mountain. Only God knows our true heart and motives, but pride has messed up much of my private life and knocked me back to square one, the way I see it, and failed relationships. Yet, people that I respect --like me! I am a 'good friend' to many. To get the "mind of God" we have to continually inspect, study the scriptures to see that we are measuring up to GOD's righteous standards, NOT the world of wicked , fallen mankind. And so it goes. And how in the world do other people really KNOW that kings and music artists will go to heaven?? Nobody knows but the Lord! The Bible certainly tells us WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE are saved and pleasing to the Lord. The Lord says: "I don't want sacrifice-- but obedience !" We all commit sin, but do we PRACTICE SIN and flaunt our rich way of fame, wealth and SIN ?? Or like many famous "Stars", do they donate millions of dollars to offset, justify their lecherous on- going affairs/ habits of sleeping with young children and others?
Michael Jackson dies and it’s 24/7 news coverage.
A real American hero dies and not a mention of it in the news.
The media has no honor and God is watching.

Ed Freeman
You're a 19-year-old kid. You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley, 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray, Vietnam. Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter and you look up to see an unarmed Huey, but it doesn't seem real because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.

Ed Freeman is coming for you. He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out, through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses.

And he kept coming back, 13 more times, and took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient Ed Freeman died on Wednesday, June 25th, 2009, at the age of 80, in Boise, ID. May God rest his soul.

Medal of Honor Winner
Ed Freeman!
Since the media didn't give him the
coverage
he deserves,
send this to every red-blooded American
you know.

THANKS AGAIN, ED, FOR WHAT YOU DID FOR OUR
COUNTRY.

RIP

Only God knows about these things-- and not me.
It rained last night and the garden loves it. Some folks call this the 'dog days of Summer' and I love it! I am going to be thankful and happy for my own little house with small rewards/ treasures/ joy and happiness, until we are too feeble to keep up the property, and then continue to serve God as best we can. We ate left over tacos for lunch again today. I love them hot and spicy.

Have a great, warm Saturday!

Hugs, and Warm Regards,
Tom

I am sorry that I erased/ rejected this fine comment....from a school teacher: Robynn's Ravings has left a new comment on your post "Your Crown in Heaven.":

Wow, this is powerful stuff, Tom. I've been spending a little time reading. I thank you for all your sacrifice for our country but even more for what you're doing for the Lord. Your words were very inspiring this morning. Thank you.
