Tom's Journal.http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/tschuckman@aol.com

I'm afraid that I have to agree with most of Jack D. Hook's mindset and beliefs. He just happens to be right. It took me a while to face my own core values and search my heart of hearts. I'm afraid that most churches have it wrong with THEIR ideas of patriotism, war, and trying to "change the USA" back to the early days of the Founders. It just WILL NOT HAPPEN. They always leave out the 'GOD FACTOR' and what God's well written WILL is!! Nations will NOT repent -- except Israel, in the future after God shakes them silly with shock and woe. Individuals will repent and change to follow Jesus Christ, but only God Almighty can change things in the coming Tribulation after the RAPTURE, etc!

Dear Richard,
Thanks for responding to my invitation. I must confess that I was deeply touched by your words as I realized the things you have witnessed with you own eyes changed the way nations interact with one another. I sincerely hope you will take the time to read the articles on my website and stay in touch with me. If you have a mailing list please add my name.
As a fellow veteran you are my friend and as a Christian my brother forever. It is an honor to meet you and the respect I have for men like you is not measurable. I love veterans (especially from WWII) and want them to know the truth no matter how old they are and what experiences they have had. I hope my online book and articles help you even more in understanding the greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ, his shed blood for our sins, and his glorious resurrection.
There is coming a day when the Lord will return in judgment and then imprison the fallen angels who are temporarily allowed by God to rule the nations because of the Adamic sin nature of all men. Until that day of judgment we are to call all men to repentance, to love and offer forgiveness to the worst of our enemies, even those who wish us dead. Please keep in touch, Richard, and tell me about your family and life.
Your new eternal friend,
Jack D. Hook

A Vietnam Veteran's Confession

**After reading this letter please "forward" it to your family and friends who you think might be interested. If you are a veteran of the military please respond and let me know when and where you served.**

Greetings,
Russian imperialists and Islamic fanatics are bringing this world to the brink of a nuclear nightmare coming to pass, according to some American and European officials. If only the British and American people could find just one real-life savior in the likeness of James Bond or Jack Bauer, the Islamic Fundamentalists and their Russian friends would be forced to "outwardly" reform themselves and make peace with Israel and the Western powers, or be utterly destroyed. The immense popularity of these two fictional characters who single-handedly confront evildoers, certainly reveals the hopes and dreams of many people in America. And nothing would please the many confused Fundamentalists of Christendom more than to see Islam's "culture of death" reformed and brought into the community of peaceful nations, so that their sons in the military will no longer be...in harm's way.
The American people gave the mantle of power to Barack Obama and Joe Biden. How will Russia, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas eventually respond to President Obama, who has promised to engage America and Israel's enemies face to face to avoid World War III breaking out in the Middle East? We should all remember that whoever occupies the White House instantly has in his hand the greatest sword of war this world has ever seen. Will President Obama use this sword to convince the Russians and Islamic radicals to join him at the peace table? He sent more forces into Afghanistan in March of 2009 to win the battle against the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden, and now is promising 30,000 more to join the battle. Is President Obama that real-life Jack Bauer or James Bond, having a sword in one hand and a olive branch in the other, who is coming to restore order and establish the peace of the promised Kingdom of God on the Earth?

All of this revives my memories of Vietnam and the great men I served with in the Army back in the 60's, especially a longtime friend who was stationed with the 9th Manchu Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam war, and a survivor of the ambush and massacre at Hoc Mon in March of 1968. You can read about that in my article "Vietnam: The Manchus of Charlie Company" posted on our website.

In 1966, after finishing armored recon scout training at Fort Knox, I was expecting orders to a combat unit in Vietnam or further combat training with my friends, but received OCS (officer candidate school) orders for Fort Lee, the Army's logistics center. I went from certain combat with a cavalry unit to a logistics officer. When I finally made it to Vietnam I was assigned to Headquarters Area Command in Saigon, arriving during the Tet offensive of 1968 which raged in and around Saigon, as well as the entire country. I lived with guilt for ten years that some of my recon friends died or were wounded while I was relatively safe after the Tet offensive was crushed. Being an officer helped to lessen the guilt, but it was a difficult and confusing time in my life. When it comes to courage, bravery, and sacrifice, even when done in ignorance of scriptural truth, I don't belong in the same room with these men, who almost daily found themselves in harm's way.

I am now retired and a writer who is very interested in current events as they relate to history and the prophecies of the future, so I spend a lot of time on the internet researching material, especially in the religious-political-military arena. The religious war declared upon Israel and the West by the "dominion" minded madmen of Islam is bringing all the nations to World War III and then Armageddon. It seems to be at the door don't you think? Many websites I research have places for public comments where people leave their names and addresses for communication purposes. And many of these websites send out newsletters with addresses on them. That's how I saw your name. I enjoy reaching out to meet new friends and see the internet as a fascinating vehicle for exchanging information. And thank you for allowing internet contact, for the last thing I want to do is intrude or be needlessly offensive.

We probably agree on many things, including the need to honor veterans. As I said, I am a Vietnam veteran, my leg partially disabled while in the military, and among the Agent Orange sufferers cared for by the VA. Among many other things, I am trying to reach out to the military and veterans with the message of hope in the Lord Jesus Christ and his teachings. I have found that many veterans, especially those involved in intense combat like my recon and Manchu friends, are very interested in spiritual matters. Some of them now understand how that all of us were born into this world with a sin nature filled with the pride of this life (militant patriotism a manifestation), love of money, and love of self and carnal pleasures. These things are the root of all wars! Some of them now understand that we all were deceived by politicians and religious hirelings (dating back to Constantine and Augustine) into thinking it was alright for Christian men to kill their enemies.

The web site I have created does not address the truth about war among nations from the "appeasing" side of the shameful antiwar movement of the 60's and their offspring today that follow President Obama. Neither does it address or agree with war from the blinding "spirit of pride" that consumes the militant patriots of the right-wing religious zealots, even though I have much in agreement with them.

As I said, for ten years after returning from the war I was a guilt-filled atheist, but came to the conclusion from the teachings of Jesus, that all wars are the result of sinful men on both sides, who will no longer be restrained in their anger and rage. One of them lashes out, the other responds. False and distorted religious doctrine, be it Islamic, Jewish, or Christian is and always has been a contributing factor.
The only way to properly understand and view wars is from the vantage point of the God of Heaven as revealed in the New Testament scriptures. Please read Ephesians 2:1-7, and you will see that because of the fall of Adam and Eve we are all born with a violent sin nature that makes us all "the children of wrath". We are born with the pride and evil lusts of Satan and the fallen angels, who Paul told the Ephesians is the prince of the power of the air, whose course "all" the nations follow blindly and in ignorance, including America. The Lord Jesus Christ wants everyone to know these things, and also that he can save us from the coming wrath of God on the people who refuse to repent and be saved by the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ.

When I discovered that the Lord Jesus Christ has truly risen from the grave two thousand years ago, and promised to return to this Earth to put an end to wars, and to then capture and put in chains Satan and his vast army of fallen angels who hate all men and love the death of war, my eyes were opened to the truth! But it wasn't easy, then or now, to stand for this truth among my militant friends or family members who rest in the pride of patriotism we all inherited at birth, who also reject my understanding of prophecy and scripture. I know how hard it is for Americans to confess they are part of Satan's kingdom and manipulated by fallen angels who they have never seen face to face. It is just as difficult for them to believe the last President will be the infamous Antichrist who will rule the nations before the coming of Jesus Christ.
The only question remaining about the Antichrist is this: Will the last President be a left-wing endorser of abortion and gay marriage like Barack Obama, or will he come from the right-wing of militant patriots as did Germany's Adolph Hitler, who thought it proper and just to kill homosexuals with the Jews? In fact, the right-wing zealotry of Hitler blamed the Jews for the deterioration of the moral standards of the German people. Concerning Hitler, every one I knew considered him to be an evil man when I was growing up back in the 1950's, but no one ever explained to me why Christians in Germany made war upon the German Christians who immigrated to America and settled the town in which I was born and raised.
How did Hitler and German Christians justify their behavior which started World War II? It came from men like the Christian theologian Augustine and Constantine, the fourth century Roman Emperor who also claimed to be a Christian, who then convinced other Christians to join with him in his so-called "just wars" the empire was fighting. For Christians had become wary of being persecuted and considered cowards due to their nonviolent ways as they looked and longed for the "bodily" second coming of Jesus Christ promised by the Apostles. Because of false teachings from men like Augustine they began to think the second coming must be in a "spiritual" sense with God now working through the holy Roman Empire to establish his promised Kingdom on Earth. Therefore, Christians could now abandon their nonviolent ways and become soldiers for Jesus serving in the Roman armies. It was during this time in history when double-mindedness and confusion ruled the day in Christendom, with a shrinking number of true believers maintaining that the Roman Empire under Constantine was still what Daniel and John prophesied as Satan's last bestial empire that would "eventually" produce the Antichrist, the Little Horn of Daniel 7 and the Beast of the Sea of Revelation 13.
Had the hearts and minds of most in Christendom changed since the days of Augustine and Constantine when humanity witnessed the bloodbath of German and Italian Christians making war against their Polish, American, French, and English brothers, even uniting with the emperor worshipping cult in Japan to fight against their Christian cousins during World War II? Obviously not. So, once again, one of the remaining questions is this: Will the militant false Christian patriots, who are more loyal to the "just war" doctrine (found in the Declaration of Independence) and America's Constitution than the Lord's Sermon on the Mount and his prophetic sermon on the Mount of Olives, be able to overcome the putrid swamp of left-wing lunacy that fills Washington D.C, and replace it with their own cesspool of self-righteous militant pride and greed? No matter which wing of America's political Eagle the Antichrist emerges from, he will be a professing Christian, just as Hitler was in the 1930's.
Even though I believe in the things I have just written, I weep often for my birth country and remember vividly the day I graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1967 when the National Anthem was played bringing tears to my eyes as we all stood at attention. For me, during the Vietnam War era, hearing the anthem and watching the flag wave in the breeze was like an adrenalin rush. Becoming an Army Lieutenant with a commission signed by the President of the United States was the proudest and most exhilarating day of my life. But the brutal reality and cost of war brings other memories which are horrible, that carry no spine-tingling rush of pride throughout my body. I remember the letter I wrote from Vietnam to the family of a young soldier under my command who took a sniper's fatal bullet to the head in 1968. Within days another sniper took aim at my head, but he missed and the bullets just tore up the ground by my side. The young corporal from Alabama died, and I lived. My life would never be the same. If you are a veteran of war you know what I am talking about.
Veterans of wars who have been awakened by the Lord Jesus Christ and his cross of love and mercy have much to contribute to this fallen world. It is my heart's desire to reach out to as many as I can with the gospel, the good news, of the soon coming Kingdom of God. My message is not one of condemnation, for I respect and honor them all. Like the apostle Paul, I admire and respect the devotion and dedication, the single-mindedness that so represents America's soldiers now and those I knew back in the Vietnam era, 2 Timothy 2:1-4. Paul was encouraging Christians to be dedicated non-violent soldiers of Jesus Christ until he returns in judgment when we, as resurrected soldiers, will join him in the Battle at Armageddon, Revelation 19:11-21. Until then we are to pick up our own cross, pleading with men, even our worst enemies, to turn from their sin nature that condemns them.
I lost some friends in war, but now I understand just how deceived we all were about the fallen angels and our sin nature, and how these lies are still being told to young Christian men today in many nations by confused Bible teachers dressed in sheepskin suits thinking they are followers of Jesus. But it is "another" Jesus they are proclaiming, not the one revealed in the scriptures, 2 Corinthians 11. My hope is they will reconsider what they are teaching, for I was once one of them, and know that Jesus will forgive all those who repent before him. Please consider the real Jesus, for he is alive, risen from the dead, and returning bodily to this Earth in power and glory.

From jack D. Hook:

Thanks again, Tom, for acknowledging how difficult it is to know that the nation we were born in and taught to love and admire, is just as much a part of the "world system" as any other Gentile nation, past or present. It is a hard pill to swallow. Like you, there came a day when I had to once and for all decide which Kingdom really had my heart and loyalty. Your veteran brother in Jesus, Jack.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Tom and Sharon!! I didn't know- but I've been back and forth the past couple of days trying to get e mail and other sites saved and sorted.

I have been busier than ever Tom, and I do read your blog e mails, but haven't had time to respond or write mine. I know you have PTSD Tom, but honestly, I feel a little of it myself, and I've not yet been in a battle. But I sure feel like we're on the precipice of one!

Was thinking today, and it could just be my own goofy thoughts, but I think part of why we're all going through real crap (all my Christian brothers and sisters I mean) is to toughen us up maybe for the worst stuff coming? I know Jesus will come when He chooses the time, but I have a feeling we're in for some really rough stuff soon, no matter what happens in November elections.

Yes, I am getting whiplash by watching Israel then the sky for Jesus! I feel a pressure inside me, that reflects all the things going on in my own life, in society, politics and the whole thing- it's getting like a pressure cooker- but I don't know if it's just me, or part of the electricity you talk about- as it seems like we are really really on the edge of something huge, and the whole world will be effected. Now, it may not be Jesus' time just yet but if not His return, then something huge which will separate the vines from the branch so to speak- where Jesus will decide all who are going to follow Him are ready and those who aren't will have to go through the trib. It seems that more than ever, the fields are just about ripe for the final gathering before His return.

God Bless you both, have an excellent dinner and look soon for a new subject on No apologies!!

:-)
