Weather in the U.P.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

May 30th, 2012, and all is [almost] well...

Weather in the U.P. -Iron Mountain, MI., area is chilly and has been rainy these past few days, after some near record breaking heat and humidity-- but I am not complaining.  I have been doing some finishing sanding work on a custom built out side lawn chair made for me that I love, and then I will paint it.  Terri works like a mad woman as soon as she gets home in the Summer time, drinking in all the sun while it hangs around up here in the 'tundra.'  I just need to learn how to dress more warmly.   After getting a great sun burn half a week ago, several times... and then it turns cold - for a 'flat lander.' I got a short workout at the Gym today but ran out of steam and then ate some Chinese food in town... kind of spicy and that made me sweat more than the work out.    And dear Terri, THANK YOU, for getting me out of that panicky 'tax--paper work' situation... and a touch of PTSD.  Bless your pea-pickin' heart, darling.

Friends,  most of my life, I prayed for 'balance' and wisdom/ learning.   In some ways I felt like I never got to reach my full potential-- being anchored by a few greedy, myopic "ladies" who were just out to see how much they could milk a husband.   But as we get older, the true words of the Bible ring true [of course] in that evil doers never seem to reap the plunder they imagine, and justice is thus served in the end.   The people/ real Christians are rewarded in the end too, if they remain faithful... and 'God cannot lie.'  What ever befalls a man in his life-- just deal with it-- the best Christian way you can-- and there will be happiness in Paradise later on... after the Rapture, or death of a Faithful one.

I am a bit anxious, for reasons that are personal, something that we all hope will happen in about 2 weeks, and being in love with that someone is GOOD, but understanding the 'BIG PICTURE' -- of God's perfect Word, is better in the end.  Because only Jesus can bring us thru the super hard times.
Now... it may SEEM a bit shallow and too simplistic for a Christian to keep mouthing the words:  "JESUS SAVES"  --all the time, and to just 'cast all your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you.'   That kind of simplicity stubbles many into thinking that the world is in such a complicated, caotic mess, that all the smart, wise, scientists need to gather and work something out, and soon!!  But God reaches out to the simple [not stupid], humble, obedient people on earth -- and He protects them, one way or another.  I made some stupid blunders in the past by hooking up with a few CHINO's [Christians in name only], who were not totally rooted in the Word, and paid dearly for my decission, but my fiance assurses me that she is true and worthy.   I continue to explain that she is a very GOOD lady, a much BETTER human being than I will EVER be !!   But the 'jaw dropper' is:  Millions of "good people" are going to hell!   What is 'good in their human eyes is  like filthy rags to the Lord of Heaven, and the only way to find out exactly what God wants is to search out His Word -- the Bible!   Sorry.   Please don't put words in my mouth or accuse me of "judging my fellow man" because I know and profess to be a worthless sinner man, deserving of death and hell.   It's ONLY thru the death and ransom blood sacrifice of Lord Jesus that Saves me, and others!!  The Bible is very clear about that-- yet I stood ignorant for 22 years, being blinded by Satan, and certain errant organizations.   Now I am free.

I am busy as a squirel digging up old papers and documents so that everything will run smooth, without a hitch.

Thank you, Amy Aldrich, and family, for working so hard for me, in cleaning and keeping my property in good order down in my green, beautiful Wisconsin, as I am trying hard to sell it, and eliminate the extra mortgage burdon.  God will bless you all too.  Maybe we will come down and visit a bunch of dear friends in short order, soon, and dine at House of Gerhardt - German dining, etc.   I think that Kenosha, WI., has some great places to eat-- even compared to Milwaukee.  But little to people know that too many of them will be 'lucky' to buy dog food in a few months, me thinks....   sorry.

However, from now on, let us rejoice in our Christian minds AND HEARTS, now -- because we have been blessed with understanding that the Lord will take care of His own, while the world slips down into that hellish area called 'storm and chaos.'   Only a good combat soldier knows how to 'embrace death', and understand it just for what it is ---a door way to eternity, one place or another.'    I would rather err on the side of caution, than tripping  down the road of merrymaking and acting too foolish, dear friends.  We can still have lots of fun and laughter and live within our means-- but just stay sober with eyes wide open for the next few months, please!  Many, if not most of my valued combat Veteran friends/ brothers in arms feel the same why that I do, and that seems to keep us healthy.   Frankly, friends and readers, I am going to stock up on a few more gallons of pure drinking water, and champagne,  beans and rice, for the months ahead... LOL.  May the LORD bless, and be with you!
And thank you, dear Wanda Jane Becker, for sending me those horrific pix of your local tornadoes around Hays, Kansas, etc.  Bless YOU, and your family too.
I plan on visiting, and dinning with some of my elite warriors back in S.E. Wisconsin soon.  Take care.

Warm Regards,
Tom

Back at Home-- in the U.P.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

Hi Friends,
I returned to Iron Mtn., MI., about 11:40--noon-ish, but stopped before that to get some KFC chicken and biscuits for 'Deuce' and I to put something into my starved tum tum besides meds and warm soda pop.... that were eating a hole in my stomach.  I retrieved the important tax papers/ documents that I needed plus another 'truck load' of canned goods, new clothes, etc that we could use U.P. here in the 'Tundra' and already set for Winter -- IF we are still around to see it {I will explain that latter-- in this short note} ... as things in my opinion have drastically changed.

I saw and visited shortly with some good old friends in Kenosha-land, WI.,  next to Lake Michigan, like Dan T., and Dennis at his new "hardware shop" and I know that I made a special, strategic purchase yesterday that might put some meat in the freezer this Fall, if the good Lord permits.  But as these days kick off, fly by, it's pretty much 'one day at a time' with me, and I think Terri too.   And for good reason, every day together is another day in Paradise with her, as we are both avid, serious Bible students   --- I did not say perfect, sinless people, or Saints--  just Believing lovers of Jesus and the "Book."  Some of my readers might think that I am taking a big 'gamble' in a few areas, with time, treasure, blood, and adventure...  but I see things as investments in a 'win-win situation'  where we are storing our long term treasures in heaven, but also on earth in varied ways, and so I figure we have double layers of insurance, investments,  safety nets, etc.  Never put all your eggs into one basket... but if a man did just that-- Proverbs 3:5:  "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;   and lean not unto thine own understanding."  And that is the one investment you can really count on, dear friends.   If you want the real skinny on a super authority with the road map thru life -- pick the BIBLE, please!  And I don't know how smart YOU folks think you are, but my peers consider well educated and smart, with tons of experience.  Yet, I feel that I am just scratching the surface after intense study of the Bible of some 30 years now...  although I know that I am Saved, and where I am going.  So, are YOU GOOD FOLKS still struggling with or sitting on the fence without taking a positive stand-- jumping off one side or another-- afraid of what your so-called friends or family may think of you???  Sorry, folks, but Jesus said that my enemies would come from MY OWN FAMILY -- and they surely are !!    And so I am completely finished/ done handing out money to any member of my family, and my up coming Will and Last Testiment will also reflect that...  sorry, folks, you can think what ever you want.  I was always just a mean old man to them, no matter how many thousands I dished out to help them... and now that my dearest son, Andy, is gone [he came over to my old house to help me, visited, talked to me, treated me like a human being-- but was murdered last May 10th, 2011.   See:  Matthew 10: 36, please.  Not to beat a dead horse, but  you know that I have repeated this scripture often.

Talking with some personal friends and experts yesterday, the 'price of ammunition/ bullets/ shells', is GOING THRU THE ROOF!!   One smart guy said that the 'next gold would be ammo!'  I am too embarrassed to tell you what I paid for just one box of 20-- deer rifle ammo....  The Gov't could and just might leaves gun out of the mix, but tax ammunition so heavy that only a rich man could afford them!  And the "trigger"/ cause of all this baloney, and woe,  is a man's last name, starting with "O."   The same thing happened just before he got elected 3 years ago.  Hey!  The only thing I have left of my good name, is TRUTH!

Folks, the only reason I am publishing this stuff to to drive home the important point [NOT to depress  you all] that something BIG will happen this Summer, and after that things will never be the same.  The 'man' in the WH is not worried too much about the coming election....  because there just MIGHT NOT BE ANYMORE ELECTIONS!!!  Do I sound pretty crazy and deluded now??  Well, I never thought I would live to see the day when America became a same sex marriage kind of country either!  But her were are...
Warm Regards,
Tom

The Nature of the Church

It is not uncommon to hear anti-pretribulationists discount pretribulationism because the Bible teaches that Christians will suffer for Christ. Since pretribulationists teach that the church will not go through the tribulation, some attempt to equate this with a view that Believers will never experience hardship of any kind during the current church age. This is a distortion of our views. Pretribulationism teaches, by God’s grace and decree, the church will not go through the time of God’s wrath because the tribulation is designed for purposes which do not include the church. In fact, we believe that during the church age it is not uncommon for Believers to experience tribulation and even martyrdom.

Church Age Sufferings

The New Testament clearly teaches that church age believers will suffer (John 15:18-25; 16:33; Phil. 1:29; Col. 1:24; 2 Tim. 3:12, etc.). Yet this same New Testament promises a deliverance from a coming or future time of wrath. Thus, it follows that there must be different kinds or periods of wrath or persecution that the church will experience and another kind from which she will be delivered. That is exactly the case. Believers suffer persecution during the current church age, but is promised deliverance from a future, coming wrath—the wrath of the tribulation.

God's Purpose for the Church

God’s plan and purpose for the church would naturally relate to whether He will remove His Bride before the tribulation or have her go through it. Only pretribulationism is able to give full biblical import to the New Testament teaching that the church differs significantly from Israel. The church is said to be a mystery (Eph. 3:1-13) by which Jews and Gentiles are now united into one body in Christ (Eph. 2:11-22). This explains why the church’s translation to heaven is never mentioned in any Old Testament passage dealing with the second coming after the tribulation, and why the church is promised deliverance from the time of God’s wrath during the tribulation (1 Thess. 1:9-10; 5:9; Rev. 3:10).
Believers are tested during the church age via the persecution and sometimes even death at the hand of the world (John 15:18–26; 16:33; 2 Tim. 3:12; Rev. 3:10). However, God’s wrath is never directed toward the church, Christ’s bride. Can you image the Lord beating up His bride via the wrath of the tribulation and then marrying her at the end of His period of wrath against her? I cannot, nor does the New Testament, which is why both of us teach the pre-trib rapture view. It is helpful, in determining the timing of the rapture, to note that the translation of the church is never mentioned at all in passages that speak of the second coming of Christ after the tribulation. [1]

Delivered from Wrath

The Apostle Paul notes that the church is not appointed to God’s wrath to be dispensed during the seven years of the tribulation in the following passages:
  • Romans 5:9—“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10—“you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:9—“For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Because God has promised that the church cannot enter the time of “the wrath of the Lamb” or “the great day of their wrath” (Rev. 6:16-17), the church will have been taken to heaven before this time.

Old Testament Origin of Wrath Terminology

The Old Testament taught that there would come a time, just before Israel returns in faith to the Lord, resulting in God returning them to a place of glory in the world. Deuteronomy 4:30 said, “When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and listen to His voice.” The word “distress” or “tribulation” in the KJV is said in Zephaniah 1:15 and 18 to be a time of God’s wrath. “A day of wrath is that day, a day of trouble and distress, a day of destruction and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness” (Zep. 1:15.) “Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord’s wrath; and all the earth will be devoured in the fire of His jealousy, for He will make a complete end, indeed a terrifying one, of all the inhabitants of the earth” (Zep. 1:18).
The Old Testament calls this time “the day of the Lord,” or what is more commonly known as “the tribulation.” It will be a time of wrath—God’s wrath against the world and the earth dwellers. What is the purpose for His wrath? God’s purpose for the seven-year tribulation includes a time of wrath or judgment upon the Gentiles for their treatment through the years of Israel (Deut. 30:7) and for their rejection of Israel’s Messiah–Jesus (Rev. 3:10). It becomes obvious that since the church does not fit God’s purpose for His wrath, God has chosen to remove the church from this time-period. This is the point Paul is making when he promises deliverance from this time of wrath. The only way this can be fulfilled is through a pretribulational rapture of the church. Dr. Renald Showers explains:
the reason church saints should protect their minds with the certainty of being delivered from the wrathful first phase of the broad Day of the Lord is because God has appointed them to a radically different destiny from that of the unsaved. The unsaved will be overtaken by and experience the destruction of the wrathful first phase of the broad Day of the Lord. By contrast, God did not purpose church saints to experience His wrath. Instead, He intentionally purposed them to obtain salvation or deliverance from the wrathful first phase of the broad Day, which belongs to the unsaved. [2]
Forgiveness of sins through Christ prepares the church so that she will not be overtaken by the day of the Lord (1 Thess. 5:1-9), which includes the tribulation. This will be achieved by the rapture, mentioned by Paul in the preceding chapter (1 Thess. 4:13-18).

Kept from the Hour

The church is explicitly promised, through the church of Philadelphia (Rev. 3:10), deliverance from “the hour of testing,” which is a reference to the tribulation. Here is a clear passage teaching that the church will escape the tribulation, since God has revealed that it will be “to test those who dwell upon the earth.”
  • Revelation 3:10—“‘Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth.’”
Believers are promised deliverance from the hour of testing. This means that the church is totally absent from the time period of this testing. It is said to be a time of worldwide testing. Further, it will test “those who dwell upon the earth.” This single Greek word “earth dwellers” is used ten other times in Revelation (6:10; 8:13; 11:10 [twice]; 13:8, 12, 14 [twice]; 17:2, 8), as “a company of people constantly in view through the Apocalypse as objects of God’s wrath because of their rebellion against Him.... These are men given up to evil and hatred of God’s saints.” [3] Thus, a contrast between what God has in store for His church and unbelievers could not be greater. Every aspect of this passage strongly supports pretribulationism. Jeffrey Townsend concludes as follows:
Although Revelation 3:10 describes the result of the rapture (i.e., the position and status of the church during the Tribulation), and not the rapture itself, the details of the hour of testing just mentioned establish the pretribulation rapture as the most logical deduction from this verse. The promise of preservation is from a period of time that will envelop the whole world. Only a pretribulation rapture would remove the church completely from the earth and its time continuum. Thus the pretribulation rapture is found to be a proper logical deduction from the data found in Revelation 3:10. [4]
Dr. Charles Ryrie adds:
the promise of Revelation 3:10 not only guarantees being kept from Tribulation trials but from the Tribulation period itself. The promise is not, "I will keep you from the trials." It is "I will keep you from the hour of the trials." [5]

Conclusion

The godly remnant of the tribulation are pictured as Israelites and Gentiles, not members of the church. Thus, pretribulationists do not confuse general terms like “elect” and “saints,” which are used in the Bible of all the saved of the ages, with specific terms like “church” and those “in Christ,” which refer to believers of this age only. The nature and purpose of the church is said to be unique and separate from Israel. This provides a biblical basis for removal of the church before God completes the final seven years leading up to Israel’s redemption and exaltation during the millennium. We have seen that there are specific passages promising the church’s removal before the time of the tribulation gets under way. These passages can only be harmonized with the rest of the Bible within a pre-trib framework, thus making sure that our Blessed Hope is imminent indeed. Maranatha!
