"Easter"

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report' Each year during Holy Week, I present a program called, "The Week That Changed the World." The timing of the events of that week is critical. Jesus Himself set the timetable.

In this edition, I'll tell you why I think we're mistaken in commemorating "Good Friday." It should be "Good Thursday!"

And you probably know that the Feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits dramatically and poignantly foreshadow the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. But there may be some aspects of the preparation for those feasts that surprise and move you.

Finally, I'll discuss the overwhelming evidence for Christ's resurrection presented by "The Undisturbed Grave Cloths."

Please tune in and tell someone else about the show. Don't miss this week's Report on TBN, Daystar, CPM Network, The Word Network, various local stations, www.hallindsey.com or www.hischannel.com. Please check your local listings.

Rejoice! Jesus Christ lives! Happy Resurrection Day!

God Bless,

Hal Lindsey

Friends,
There is a scripture that goes like this:   'Let God be found true though all men be liars.'   One of the big reasons that I got sucked into the JW-cult after I got home from RVN - Vietnam, in March 30, 1970,  was because "I thought that they had the TRUTH !"  It took many years,  but I learned that they were lying to me too, and I exited that 'church of the poisoned mind'  -- and then found the real Truth of the KJV Bible, pure and usually simple enough for most children to understand, and written on a 5th grade reading skills level.  PTL.   Please see:   biblefortoday.org     ---  The DEFINED KJV Bible is not so expensive and is a fine study Bible, IMHO, that helps the reader to quickly understand most of the archaic, "OLD ENGLISH" terms of that era, Shakespeare's Day,  1610--1611 A.D.   But,  if it took learning Hebrew, Greek, German, or any other language to gain heaven,  would we not just do it, to escape the torments of hell ? ? ?   Go figure.

Anyway,  We bible loving Christians want and need the truth.  Let's go for it !!

Interesting Facts About Easter

Q.   I read that Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.  Is this correct?

A. The person who wrote this is wrong about the dating of Easter in the western church. It is connected to the Spring Equinox but is not related to Passover. (Many Eastern Orthodox churches still connect the dating of Easter to Passover.)
For the west, Easter replaced the pagan Feast of Ishtar, a fertility goddess, which occurred at the time of the Spring Equinox. That’s how Easter got its name and why colored eggs and rabbits, symbols of fertility, came to be part of it. Some of the pagan rituals most abhorrent to God were part of the Feast of Ishtar.
When Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire they simply replaced the pagan festival with a Christian one, keeping many of the pagan rituals. (The Romans did the same thing with Christmas which had been the Feast of Saturnalia.)
Passover occurs 14 days after the first day of Nisan, the first month on the Jewish calendar (Lev. 23:5). Months are based on phases of the moon, each month beginning with the so called crescent moon.
The Feast of First Fruits comes on the day after the Sabbath after Passover (Lev. 23:11) which means it’s always a Sunday since their sabbath is Saturday. In the year Jesus was crucified the Feast of First Fruits was three days after Passover and became known as Resurrection Morning in the early church.
