Happy Memorial Day, Dear Friends.

I guess that there are many ways to look at different subjects, and even church going, too.  A lot of it has to do with 'how we are raised.'   Just like some folks turn up their nose at eating fish and some at eating  red meat !   Personally,  I raised my own 3 wonderful children very strict,  but also with lots of love and attention, and it still hurts my heart so bad that I lost my only son, Andy, about 6 years ago, one month to the day after I lost my last wife, Sharon, from heart failure.    I thought that I would NEVER recover from those 2 savage 'kicks to the groin...'   I wanted to die, too !
When I see kids at our church goof around and make all kinds of squirmy monkey shines, get into trouble, cannot sit still for one whole hour ---  it only tells me that they only have ONE PARENT THAT TAKES CARE OF THEM AT HOME, and doesn't spend the necessary time to train them up, to sit still and listen, with kind and loving discipline.    And most everyone doesn't know the true definition of  DISCIPLINE !   We get the term disciple from that word....  'to train, to teach.'  Like when a father teaches his son or daughter how to bait a fish hook, clean the fish, cook them, how to have proper table manners, etiquette, etc.    Friends,  you've got to figure....  that if "False Religions" like the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, can train their young ones to sit still and behave,  WHY CAN'T REAL TRUE CHRISTIANS DO THE SAME ? ? ?     The big secret of success is to MAKE THE TIME, to sit down with your kids, and show them, by gentle speech and example, how to just sit and LISTEN, good manners, and then ask them questions afterwards.   Simple.   But get into the RIGHT HABITS of doing stuff like that once a week, in a family bible study, and you will see them grow with your gentle patience !    It is so rewarding, and will not hurt them one bit !   BTW,  it means their eternal life in heaven, that what you teach your children, especially from the KJV Bible.   And if that means you need more personal bible study, get cracking !    I, and many other parents have used this method of teaching and discipline and love, to mold  a child in the right way, so they don't take to the streets and riot when all the other young people do, and may also save their life !   The KJV Bible says that discipline CAN also include using a stick for corporal punishment [getting their attention] sometimes, but that doesn't mean that we beat our kids to death.   Only when it's warranted and necessary !   Usually, after I tell my kids [when they were younger] several times [3 times], and they still don't listen,  I was inclined to give them a good whack on the butt.   But that hurt ME more than it hurt them....  because I loved all my kids dearly.    Andy later told me after he was grown up that he 'needed' that application of the stick many times over, and we were the best of friends.
I also showed my son how to camp, fish, hunt, clean, how to do carpentry, wood working, welding, how to drive a motorcycle, cook steaks on the grill, and many other things.    All three of my kids turned out to be very hard, educated, workers, earning their own good living and being self sufficient.   I am not perfect, and neither are my family,  but we know that God loves us, and if we accept Jesus as Savior,  we are bound for heaven, not hell.

A snappy salute to all my combat Veteran brothers and sisters ---hoping that Your General is Christ, and also hoping that  you can find that true peace and knowledge  that surpasses all understanding, in Jesus' name.   Amen.

Q&A-chalkboard

Can’t Make It To Church?

Q. Is it true that a committed Christian can go to hell if he or she does not attend Church every Sunday? When I say “committed Christian” I mean someone who has accepted Jesus as their personal lord and savior and who also refrains from sinning. I was wondering about this because I know a lot of committed Christians who don’t go to church because they lead very busy lives.

A. First of all, a committed Christian can’t go to hell for any reason. The Lord died for our sins so we would not perish but have eternal life with Him (John 3:16).
And while the Bible tells us we shouldn’t give up meeting together with other believers (Hebrews 10:25), that doesn’t mean we’ll go to hell for missing church. In Romans 14:5 Paul said, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.”
But we should all be able to find a meaningful way to be with the Lord at least once each week, whether alone or with others.
When we’re too busy to spend time with the One we say we’re committed to, then something is wrong with our priorities. If you were in a “committed” relationship with another person and he or she could never find any meaningful time for you, wouldn’t you wonder about the strength of his or her commitment?
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night (Psalm 92:1-2).
