Great Old Home Medical Remedies.

Dear Friends,
I didn't have the room to put all these great remedies on my blog page but I figured that most of you could glean the name, title and author to get the rest of the story/ article.  Great stuff that really works.
In the old days people didn't have the money to run to the doctor every time little Tommy cut his knee or had a bellyache, so they had their own medical remedies that WORKED.  So just think... the day might come when the SHTF and we cannot get to a hospital or doctor, and so writing or printing this kind of Info [Information] and putting it in a safe place would be smart/ intelligent, IMHO.  I have put together 2-- comprehensive Medical Kits --- one in my truck and one in the house, just in case there is a medical emergency.  Plus I have studied up on basic First Aid and had training in the Army to back me up.
We are blessed that a quick call on the phone will fetch the Ambulance in a few minutes.  But in a dire disaster/ emergency our State system could be compromised with long delays.  Be Prepared!  I feel that I have saved a few lives in my life, and also been used by the Holy Spirit to lead a fair amount of people to the Lord Jesus, too.

"O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.  Have mercy on me, O Lord;  for I am weak;  O Lord, heal me for my bones are vexed."   ---Psalms 6: 1-2.   Reading the Psalms honestly calm me down when I am too excited, vexed, nervous and sore.  With all of today's bad, stressful non-stop "News" on TV and Radio,  we need a good source of comfort and peace.  The KJV Bible works for me.  It is so beautiful and poetic!

Well, it's payday and all the bills have been paid...  as I like to pay all the 'big bills' right away and get them out of the way.  So then I know how much I have left to get through the rest of the month in my grand retirement.

So many years ago after I got hired at AMC [American Motors Company] in Kenosha, Wisconsin... later was 'acquired' by Chrysler Corp., it seemed like working 30 years was so long and many people never retired but died instead.  Many got injured and sick from just inhaling the oily, mist in the atmosphere inside the factory from lubrication of the huge machines, etc!  The big company used to deny any medical, legal claims and said that those employees smoked or were sick before they got hired.  What a horrible lie to defraud the hard-working workers--- but that is my humble opinion.  The rest of us workers in the same area of the auto plant developed some kind of "immunity" so we heard and believed.  But the truth is, people just live and die and who knows why most of the time.  I have known a few women and also men who had terrible, hurtful cancer, also limping in and out of the gate,  but continued working until their 30 long years were in so they could retire and support their family with the good, rich benefits, perks and income... only to die shortly after retirement!  That was a job that you just didn't quit!  But I felt sorry for hard-working individuals that I just described, and I also made many good friends working there for over 3o.5 years.  I just wish I could see them again or get their email addresses.  But truthfully I am sure that many have already passed away by now.  Just like so many Soldiers that served with me in Vietnam: 68-70.  Those kind of heroes are special to me.

Sorry to say,  it gets kind of lonely being old and a survivor.  All my father's brothers have passed away except one in the Denver area, and he is about 10 years older than I am.   If there were any quarrels or hard feelings between us, we should have had the maturity to forgive and forget by now!  Just like that fine prayer, I cited up above from Psalms should wake us up to 'fly right.'  I pray for humility almost every day and night!
And perhaps I don't give enough but at least I do donate some funds to a few trusted Charities, like Samaritan's Purse, and Bible Tracts, Inc.  And if I bump into another combat Veteran I might buy his breakfast.   If he or she is poor I will fill up his gas tank, etc.  I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit moves my heart to help other needy people, as the Lord has showered His blessings on me.  PTL.  Yet, I still have many bills to pay.

Warm Regards,

40 Remedies From Our Grandparents

0
1530

These days, it has become all too common for people to reach for a pill bottle or call the doctor anytime something goes wrong or even for the smallest scrape. The simple, wacky home remedies of our grandparents, those weird concoctions formed from everyday household goods are often mocked by today’s medical establishment. But surprisingly, the truth is that our grandparents actually knew a lot more about the world than we give them credit for and many of these old-fashioned folk remedies actually work. Not just that, but many of them work better than the synthetic pharmaceuticals that so many people stuff their bodies with today.
Here are 40 weird, wacky, but shockingly effective home remedies that still work today and would make grandma proud.

1. Use Garlic and Olive Oil for Athlete’s Footolive-oil-for-foot

Everyone knows about the many health benefits of garlic, but did you know that it can fix your athlete’s foot problem in a jiffy? Just mince some garlic cloves, mix them with natural olive oil, and then use bit of cotton to rub this mixture onto the affected area between the toes.

2. Potato Slices for Headachespotato slices for headaches

Headaches and/or migraines can ruin even the best day but there is a weird natural solution that works: potato slices. Just cut a few slices from a raw potato, soak them in a very thin cloth, and apply them to your forehead or directly to the temples.

3. Ease Cuticle Infections with Vinegarvinegar

Done too much manicuring? Cuticles all torn up and infected? Make a glass of vinegar and warm water, then put your fingers in it for about 15 minutes. Repeat this procedure once a day or so until the infection fades away.

4. Use Vinegar to Cure Swimmer’s Ear

There’s nothing that ruins a good day at the beach like coming home with swimmer’s ear. But when your grandparents told you to drop some vinegar in your ears, they weren’t kidding. The acidic properties of vinegar can kill off that awful swimmer’s ear bacteria, leaving you feeling like yourself again. Just take out some white vinegar, dilute it with distilled water, and put three drops into the problematic ear, three times a day, until the problem fades.

5. Olive Oil for Eczema

Feeling itchy already? Eczema can make anyone grow crazy. But olive oil, which is full of antioxidants and often used as an ingredient in professional skin creams, isn’t just good for athlete’s foot: it can ease the symptoms of eczema as well. Simply rub some olive oil onto the eczema-affected areas of your skin and it should help quite a bit. Moreover, olive oil is named in the Bible as a cure-all remedy.

Ten Talents.

Hello Good Readers and Dear Friends,
I had a better VAMC report yesterday, especially with my 'blood work' -- A1C tests that were back down to near normal for even a NON-diabetic guy!  After much study and reading I believe that it is possible and probable to not only lower those Stats., but to also reverse Diabetes type 2!  I have studied healing Herbs ever since I got home from the Army in 1970, mainly because I didn't trust Big Pharma and doctors in general.  Yes!  It's just a matter of trust.  So many liars and greedy people out in the world who claim that we MUST buy their expensive drugs and be tethered to their demands until we die a painful, unnecessary death to early in life.  OK, that is only MY opinion, and I am not an expert, nor am I giving any so-called "Medical Advice."  Proper diet, moderation,  exercise, prayer, and good living are the main keys.  So far, it is working for me.   However, a few of my close relatives just passed away before their time, and who really knows why....  and I am so sorry for them and their close kin/ family.   I am not saying that they lived a bad life of excess at all.  Maybe God called them home early... I don't know, but we all weep and feel bad for the survivors.

But that brings me/ us to a famous sermon of Jesus Christ, the "10 Talents."   You can read all about the story below.  Since we don't know when we will die [or get Raptured] it behoves us to do the work of the Lord while we can, and we don't need a lot of special schooling other than knowing the Bible, much of it written on a 5th-grade level.  I was just explaining to my wife [who is smart] that we all [true Christians] are commissioned by Christ to do His Kingdom work while He is gone to further the Kingdom interests with whatever He gave us.  The more that we lay back and 'put off' that important work, we procrastinate and just let that task drift away.... like sleeping past the time to get up out of bed in the morning to be late for work!  I am guilty of that too, in the past.
Now, just like yesterday at the VA in the waiting room, I noticed a large gentleman sitting on a large chair waiting to be called by the charming nurse to be seen.  I drove my cool scooter over to him and began talking and found out that he was in the Navy, a missle technition on a huge submarine, the "John Henry" and some of his proud adventures, and he even showed me a picture of that ship from many years ago.  So then I eased the conversation into Christian activity, etc., and found a Bible tract inside my roomy wallet and gave it to him.  I said, " here, please read this in your spare time and see if you agree with it, and maybe you will then want to pass it on."  Unfortunately, I didn't get his name and number because the nurse came out and called my name, so I had to leaven.   But I would have asked him if he wanted to go out for breakfast sometime with my wife and I to follow up on our conversation.  But this is one way of 'doing the Lord's work in furthering the Kingdom interests.  Simple?  Yes!  I am not looking for a reward in heaven and nor can I "buy my way into heaven."  But I know that I am doing the good work on earth while I still live and breathe, and it's what I should be doing!  To that end, I know that it is good to plan for such activities by preparing --- like stashing a few Bible tracts into my wallet next to my cash... LOL.  I also like to just jot down my name and phone number on the tract so the person can contact me if they have an interest, and we could also meet at a church where my wife and I assemble on Sundays, or whatever.
I get the bible tracts for free for the asking from Bible Tracts, Inc.,   P.O. box 188,  Bloomington, IL  61702-0188.

Friends, I have inherited, IMHO, a plugged up nose that makes me gasp for air at times and makes sleeping in bed with a CPAP and oxygen difficult and almost impossible at times.  It actually throws me into a panic with high anxiety so that I have to get up at night disrupting my slumber and blow my nose for a while, praying hard for relief, and many times just sitting in my new EZ chair resting there.  Well, as you can imagine the lack of a good night's sleep makes me a grumpy old man the next day, and hard to live with!  The OTC nasal spray cannot be used more than 3-4 days in a row, and can make the problem worse if used too much!  The VA has suggested a few remedies but nothing concrete and sure.  I feel as though I am suffocating at night and it just scares me.  That is not the way I want to die!  If anyone has a better way to deal with my situation, please email me:  tschuckman@aol.com
We just bought a new Humidifier at WalMart yesterday and I think that helped a little bit, and my wife tries to keep the area clean by sweeping and mopping, but we live in an old house where the owner doesn't care to repair or fix too much... sorry.  We could buy our own house but my wife just wants to rent here for the time being.   If I pass on, maybe she will want to relocate somewhere else as she will be all alone here so why be tied down to an old house that won't sell very well in a depressed economy if someone else gets to be our President.  Yes,  I believe that our economy will tank if President Trump is not our president.  He is very gifted in 'making a good deal.'  Obama just ran everything into the ground, on purpose, while giving lots of our money to Iran, a terrorist country, IMHO, and let Russia have her own way invading a few counties.  I totally believe that many if not most Russians are good, Christian people who only want a fair shake in life, but the rulers and strong men control the countries, like Turkey, Iran and Syria.   Just my personal opinion.  Maybe I will die for my candour,  but America is still a 'free country' as long as the godless Dems-Socialists are not in total control -- free from the "Thought Police."

If only I could hire a carpenter/ handyman to make a storm window for the kitchen.

Have a good day.

Warm Regards,
Thomas G Schuckman
