Our Recent Road Trip to Wisconsin.

Hello Dear Friends and Readers,
My fine wife, Lori and I just came home after a 'road trip' to S.E. Wisconsin [Kenosha area] to buy special walking shoes that make my sore feet feel so good, and other things that we just cannot get way U.P. here up North, and we visited my 2--beautiful sisters, Linda and Sue, and company.   We exchanged a few presents and family heirlooms that were near to the heart and special to us.  My brother in law, Gino, gave me a nice present... a 20 mm shell that is used [not a live round] in a F-18 Jet [?]... if I got that right.  I shared and donated a smaller bottle of Drambuie liquor and Scotch to our get together/ party/ reunion, and some small pieces of Silver, and a relatively new, 'Buck knife' to Gino, a former Green Beret Soldier and Military man, now retired and happy.   We missed seeing Linda's oldest son, David, as we got there 'too early'--- who was recently appointed/ promoted to Lt. Col. in the Air Force!  Congratulations, my good nephew, David !
We all had a very special, great, loving time together and my pretty wife, Loretta, got to finally get acquainted with my 2-- sisters and see sister Linda's house in Burlington, WI.  I am not going to get too specific to guard her privacy and security but they are well armed with a great watch dog.
Anyway, I found out just how disabled I was and so over weight, too, when I was down there, and the Motel that I generally stay at had a horrible, uncomfortable bed and a narrow doorway to the bathroom, with the smallest toilet in the world... Ha!   It was like camping out -- except that it would have been more comfortable camping in the woods or hunting!   THIS TIME... I finally got the bug to stop eating so much and also watch what I eat.  I am super motivated to lose 50- 100 pounds by the end of Summer!  Pray for me, please.  But I think that is the family curse --- to over eat when we become middle aged and more wealthy as we grow older.  I will NOT let myself become Diabetic!   I have done super difficult things in my past life, and can do them again when I already have one foot in the grave.  And I will also encourage the rest of my close family and relatives to cling together as we all get into the mode of weight lose--- as serious business and a meaningful life.  We have had so much death in the family these past few years.  And we all live in frightful, dangerous, spooky times, just as the bottom half of this blog post brings home, for your reading pleasure, dear friends.
Who really knows it this trip might be the 'last trip' down to see my relatives in WI., or I might die in the mean time... and my siblings well know it.  That is why they showered love on my so much, yesterday.  My dear, old Mom used to say:   "Live each day as if it were you last on Earth-- and make it a Masterpiece!"  Or something like that.  My sisters are my only link with the past, as they were privy to all the stuff that went down when I was 'off to war' as my Mom put it... for about 3 years in the Army, where I got my 'Associate's Degree from the University of Vietnam -- College of War.'   ---- Ha!

My family searches for the 'why's and wherefores' both mourn and search for the reason why the best of our loved ones die so early and get killed before they grow older to enjoy a happy, fruitful, bountiful, relaxed, retirement... such as God blessed me with [although my life had some serious big bumps in the road].  And... it's just sort of uncanny how everything just 'fell into place' at the right time when I retired at age 54 with full benefits, after my 30.5 long years at Chrysler Corp. in Kenosha, WI.  And since then I have been on my journey to help others in many ways, to instruct in Finance, Investments, deep Christian Faith with the KJV Bible, etc., and many other things.   To FINALLY find a good, honest lady who was not after my money and pension benefits, but who loved me for whom and what I am.
And I know I still have some 'rough edges' and need to work on my personality flaws, etc.
But,  Thank God for the beautiful day, sunshine, warmth, rain and beautiful rural culture that we live in --- Thursday, June 11th, 2020,  that we love so much... and our own home and security.   I know that my wife knows and understands how fortunate she is -- by moving up here about 3 years ago, and her life has changed so much, I pray, for the better, with her little dog that I am just getting to accept in my old age, but still cute and her close pet.   The air temp. is already about 70 degrees, F., at 10 AM.

I wish everyone a great day and hope you can be happy in the Lord.
And THANK YOU, Linda, for that wonderful hair cut you gave me yesterday!!

--- Army Hugs, Brother Tommy S.

The Answer

By Hal Lindsey

Like most people, I was appalled when I saw video of George Floyd with his face down on the pavement, a police officer's knee in his neck. I couldn't believe the officers would have his hands cuffed behind his back, his chest constricted so that every breath was a struggle, and the knee in his neck restricting blood flow to his brain. I was simultaneously outraged and filled with sorrow as I heard him politely pleading for his life. "I can't breathe. Please, officer."

And I saw the officer with his hand in his pocket, almost nonchalantly killing the man beneath his knee. I heard the spectators begging the officers to let George up, and after he passed out, asking them to get off of him and take his pulse. I know that the law must see the officers as "innocent" until they are proven guilty in a court of law. But if I were the prosecutor, I would throw the book at them.

The spark of outrage from the video began a fire of racial turmoil that swept - not just the United States - but the whole world. In the last week, massive protests have been held in the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and elsewhere.

How should followers of Jesus respond to a world that for months has been locked down by a disease, and is now being ripped apart in a torrent of violence and accusation? We need to engage the culture, but we need to do it God's way. Proposing another political program will not be enough. Yelling "racist" on social media won't fix anything. Throwing money at problems will not solve them. Education alone is not the answer.

God's way means engaging the culture one person at a time - one soul at a time with love and care, not sarcasm or outrage. We need to present the Gospel of Jesus with clarity and passion. These are difficult and dangerous times, but in them, God is giving us an opportunity to reach people as perhaps never before.

Jesus is the Answer. Times of anger and strife don't change that. In fact, darkness makes light more obvious. In the late 1960s and early 70s, America experienced similar upheavals. Then something amazing happened. Voices were lowered and common sense rose to the fore. Those things allowed progress toward justice and a fairer society while at the same time strengthening the nation's unity and resolve.

It happened because God sent revival to His churches and a spiritual awakening in society. The message of Billy Graham and other evangelists of the day suddenly seemed to resonate. Campus Crusade for Christ took the word to our universities. The Jesus Movement swept through the nation's young. God even used people like me, explaining the miraculous accuracy of Bible prophecy.

Once again, we desperately need revival in the Church and an awakening across the land. And we don't just need it for America, but for the whole world. The problems go far deeper than politics. We need changed hearts. You and I can't give people new hearts, but we know Someone who can.

Soon, Jesus will take His ambassadors out of this world. But while we're still here, we have a job to do.

After He had been resurrected and just before He ascended into heaven, Jesus gave us our marching orders until He comes. In Matthew 28:1920, Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
