Pray in JESUS' name.

Tom's Journal.http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/tschuckman@aol.com

OK, Guys and Gals,
You may think that this business of omitting the name, JESUS, from prayers is just a little bit/ type of persecution, obstruction, harassment, denial of our RIGHTS and FREEDOMS, right? Well, all you have to do it to "reverse" the process and apply it to the Muslims to see what happens! On the other hand, true biblical Christians only see this as another 'sign' of the End Times, and Jesus' admonition of what would happen to His followers on earth. And the gutless Congress and present administration just stands around with their fingers in their 'ears.' Ha! But wait! This is ONLY the beginning of woes...

Can you believe you can lose your job as a Pastor for using the word "Jesus" in a prayer? Well, read on...

Sincerely,

Rosemary Welch

Please sign FREE new petition to North Carolina Legislators to REVERSE THE BAN by anti-Jesus Speaker Joe Hackney on the forbidden word "Jesus" during public prayers. And if enough people donate, we'll fax all comments to all 170 State Reps & Senators. (We've already started faxing 140,000 petitions...can you help us reach 200,000?)

Anti-Jesus Speaker Tries to Dodge Responsibility for His Own Anti-Jesus Prayer Ban (Please forward this email to everybody you know in North Carolina.)

T
he Speaker of the North Carolina State-House Joe Hackney is now trying to pretend he's not responsible to immediately rescind his own verbal ban on the name of Jesus Christ, by instead appointing a six-member "bi-partisan" panel to decide whether "Jesus" is an illegal word. Hackney is under fire this week, after he fired the heroic Pastor Ron Baity who refused to deny Christ, after Hackney pressured the pastor to water-down his prayers, then punished the pastor with exclusion because he held firm to his conscience.

"
I got fired," said Pastor Ron Baity to Fox News Radio, unhappy with the way he was treated. "When the state tells you how to pray, that you cannot use the name of Jesus – that’s mandating a state religion," he said. "They talk about not offending other people but at the same time, if they are telling me how to pray – that’s the very thing our forefathers left England for."

<--S
peaker Joe Hackney fired Baity who had been scheduled to lead prayer the entire week, but was rejected after his first day's prayer, after which Hackney terminated Baity's services because his prayer ended with the forbidden words "in Jesus name." Both the First Amendment and Articles 13 and 14 (printed below) of the North Carolina Constitution protect everyone's right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of conscience.

T
he Pray In Jesus Name Project, led by former Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt, (who was himself punished for praying "in Jesus' name" but was vindicated by Congress), has now gathered over 1,000 free petition signatures on the first day of the North Carolina crisis, and has begun faxing all free petition comments to all 120 State House and 50 Senate Members. "That adds up to 170,000 faxed petitions, which are now being delivered instantly, at great cost but with great thanks to small donations from pro-Jesus citizens from all 50 states," said Chaplain Klingenschmitt.

S
cores of North Carolina citizens have already joined the effort, and many people are tweeting these words on Facebook and Twitter:

I
just spoke personally with my friend, Pastor

<--Ron Baity, who confirmed his troubles began during the week of May 31. He said a House clerk asked to see his prayer. The invocation including prayers for our military, state lawmakers and a petition to God asking him to bless North Carolina. "When I handed it to the lady, I watched her eyes and they immediately went right to the bottom of the page and the word Jesus," he told FOX News Radio. "She said 'We would prefer that you not use the name Jesus. We have some people here that can be offended.'" When Baity protested that he himself would be offended if the government ordered him to deny Christ, she brought the matter to the attention of House Speaker Joe Hackney personally. Speaker Hackney then decided Pastor Baity to disinvite Pastor Baity, that he could pray that day only, but would not be allowed to pray again in the future, and the pastor's services were terminated for the remainder of the week, because he prayed "in Jesus' Name."

The text of our free petition, now being faxed over 140,000 times, reads as follows:

A
PRAYER TO ALMIGHTY GOD,
and
A PETITION TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE-HOUSE:

Dear Sir, Representatives and Senators:

We the undersigned respectfully petition you to reverse the ban on prayers "in Jesus name" levied by the anti-Jesus Speaker of the House Joe Hackney, who recently disinvited Pastor Ron Baity and terminated his services for the week because his proposed prayers ended with the supposedly "illegal word" Jesus.

Jesus is not an illegal word, the Bible is not a banned book, and evangelistic speech is not a crime. We respectfully demand you uphold the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and the North Carolina Constitution which says in Articles 13 and 14, "All persons have a natural and inalienable right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences, and no human authority shall, in any case whatever, control or interfere with the rights of conscience. Freedom of speech and of the press are two of the great bulwarks of liberty and therefore shall never be restrained."

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals has specifically authorized legislatures to PERMIT prayers offered "in Jesus name," (while not forcing all prayers to conform to a formula) as former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor wrote in Turner v. Fredericksburg: "the Establishment Clause does not absolutely dictate the form of legislative prayer. In Marsh, the legislature employed a single chaplain and printed the prayers he offered in prayerbooks at public expense. By contrast, the legislature in Simpson allowed a diverse group of church leaders from around the community to give prayers at open meetings. Simpson, 404 F.3d at 279. Both varieties of legislative prayer were found constitutional."

Since the courts do not REQUIRE you to ban "Jesus" as an illegal word, and the Constititution does not PERMIT you to ban "Jesus" as an illegal word, we request you reverse the ban, and restore to all pastors the RIGHT to pray "in Jesus name" even in public forums like the Statehouse. PLEASE REVERSE THE BAN and PROTECT FREEDOM.

We the undersigned pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

God Bless you, in Jesus' name,

Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt
