Hello Friends,
I just got back from a successful road trip to see and visit my dear Mom, near Burlington, Wisconsin, who recently broke/ fractured her Right hip by falling down, and is now in a Rehab facility. She was so alert and happy to see me !! I brought a dear friend with me to introduce to my Mother, who is now age 89, and we all had a very nice, warm time visiting and also looking at some of my Mom's posted pictures in her room. So that alone made the trip a huge success, IMHO. I also saw my beautiful, sister, Linda, who used to be the President of the National Autism Society, as her youngest son, Kent is autistic, but his 2 siblings are both college Grads and very successful.
Of course, I showed my friend a good time taking her to the Red Lobster restaurant in Racine, WI., USA., and also a German cuisine, well know restaurant, where we had prior engaged another close couple to meet us there, an old, Army buddy and fellow Vietnam Veteran, who served as a Captain with the Green Berets, who did 3 tours in Vietnam, and we also worked together at Chrysler Corporation in that same town of Kenosha, WI., ---- and I also showed my close friend the Kenosha, WI., area, and the Lake Shore of Lake Michigan, Wisconsin side, etc. The whole time was very wholesome and interesting for everyone involved, but we are both older now and somewhat disabled.
And as usual, it's hard to cram so many planned activities into a short time slot, without getting over tired. The weather was cloudy, rainy, and very windy up state and down state. Sorry but the larger cities just don't impress me with their 'rat race' life style, and grid lock traffic patterns, along with all the crime, etc. I will never live in a big city if I can help it. But the larger cities have the great shopping areas and stores that we don't have way U.P. North in the Deep Woods ! I just needed to see my Mom and waited too long to do that --- so that it was now or never, and she is old enough where anything could happen to her these days.
As most of my close friends know, I am fond of many Bible scriptures, and one of my favorite is: "Iron Sharpens Iron." ---Proverbs 27: 17, which means, that those with whom you associate with help shape your personality in many ways, and just as a good, quality knife can be sharpened to a razor's edge to be a very useful "Tool" a special, "Steel" --- so does a close companion who 'sharpens' your own personality and character, if you allow him, or her. But if you try to use a piece of lead, a very soft metal, to sharpen your knife or sword, you will fail to produce a fine edge ! Where as a good steel file, or a sharpening stone, would work much better. I would guess that we should ALL know this basic natural 'Law.' And yet some of us hang around pieces of "lead." Our we hang around poisonous snakes and vicious characters.
Everyone knows that I am far from perfect and a terrible sinner man, but I am also into self improvement and also read many books to help myself and others. A true friend is someone who always wants to help his/ her companions if he can, but this means that he might have to 'hurt' his friend by telling him an unpleasant truth about himself that needs prompt attention ! Also going under a surgeon's knife to remove a cancer in our body would surely hurt and cause pain.... but sometimes we have to cut off the hand --- to save the body, or the life. Well, I found out that I had a serious "character flaw" that I think may have been the cause of some failed relationships in my past, and it hurt my feelings to hear of this fault being brought to light --- but I had to admit that I was dead wrong, and needed to 'repair the breach' -- search my heart, make an evaluation and work hard to improve myself. A special person who cares for me very much told me about this road block that had to be dealt with, immediately, and so I thanked this person and took that person's heart felt advice, if I wanted a relationship with that person. Period. I just wish I would have got this information many years ago !! But I truly believe in my heart of hearts, that God sent this person my way for a very special reason --- to help me make/ take a big step in correction ! ! Better late -- than Never ! And I am sure that it took a lot of courage on the other person's part to say this hard thing to me. And this all brought to mind some choice words from the Apostle Paul as he wrote a letter to the Hebrews in the 12th Chapter. It would be best to just read the entire 12th Chapter, or even read the whole book ! But, as far as 'Enduring Chastening and Correction,' why not read, verse 11, "Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." Ain't it the truth !! No one enjoys a good 'trip to the wood shed' and a sound whipping for wrong doing ! But as the old Proverbs tell us: 'Spare the rod and spoil the child.' And if you want to bury your kids or see them in jail, just let them run wild in the streets and pick up bad habits from their wild buddies who drop out of school to deal drugs, and get young teenage girls pregnant -- to keep our 4th generation welfare system ruining our country !! But read verse 6, "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth."
But please take the short time to read the entire chapter and gain all the rich benefits that I am talking about, and then share this truth with others, but only if you want to do something good for your friends and children.
Like I say, I have a long way to go, but this is something that I KNOW I can work on, and CHANGE IN MY LIFE. I MUST BE more patient with all people, but especially those that I LOVE !! For I am driving them away from me !
I also decided to really kick my weight loss program in the butt, starting tomorrow, and losing only 10 pounds a month is just NOT GOOD ENOUGH anymore, but I will try to aim for 25 or 30 pounds a month !! And I don't really care anymore how I have to do it, but my weight is adversely affecting my health, life and mood ! I have trouble breathing just from walking a short distance, and I am all alone, but I will just have to kick things in high gears and figure this all out.
Now, I have been taught that just thinking about a set goal is not enough. But we have to write it down on paper, setting realistic goal, how we will implement it, how we will get here, in what amount of time, and when !! Other wise, it is only a "Dream !" Of course it would really be better if I had a daily companion.... so I am working on that too, in an "Honorable way." Because I know that I cannot do this huge thing all by myself, but I definitely need the HOLY SPIRIT to help, guide, motivate and assist me, in changing my character, RIGHT NOW !! Just like quitting liquor, booze, smoking and swearing. We need the Holy Spirit, and we should pray hard and often to allow the Holy Spirit to work inside of us, and draw closer to God. Please pray for me, too. Let's see where I am in the next 30 days. The good folks at the Iron Mountain, MI., VAMC, are also helping me thru this endeavor.
Now, Below, Some interesting reading, but many of us already expected as much from the Democrats.... LOL ! And really, who is going to believe Susan Rice, after all of her lies ??
