Good Sermon -- and Snow!

The wet snow has finally come to South East Wisconsin, and that is when I truly love my Dodge Ram 4 by 4 pick up truck! Actually, I like 'the perfect snow storm' and disasters [that don't hurt people] but just make things inconvenient and troublesome, like 12 inches of snow with cold temps and wind!! Woo Hoo! That is probably because I have been a nature lover and survivalist since I was a young teenager on the farm, and Dad bought me my first .410 shotgun when I was about 14 years old. He taught my brother and I strict gun safety from the get go- the military way. His word was Law and his hands were like steel.

My wife passed me a note in church this morning that she would like to eat out after the service, so we went across town [Kenosha] to a special Mexican place [Taco El Rey] that has great burritos and tacos with extreme hot sauce and pickled peppers. It really cleans out the sinuses! We ordered more so we could have a 2nd meal at home that didn't need cooking on Sunday as we watched the Green Bay Packers football. They just don't have their act together this year... IMHO.

Pastor Jerry Beaver's Sunday morning sermon was about selfishness and how we are all guilty of wanting MORE and BETTER things in our lives that we don't really need. I took that sermon to heart as it certainly applies to me too. He said that is why our nation is in such financial straits now-- because we just whip out the 'plastic' and CHARGE! I should know better. I worked for PFS Investments with the mother company being CitiGroup. My, how they have saddened my heart recently by hurting so many of their clients and stooping to gross GREED and SELFISHNESS! And I used to think that they were better and different then the rest of the financial giants! Well, last week I terminated my last Mutual Fund with one of their Investment Companies, and I will start saving/ investing my money in 'different ways' from now on. They will not go to prison because they are in bed with powerful political entities/ politicians. Ha! What a double standard.

So we also learned about too much complaining these days.
Why are we not more handsome, thinner, richer, have a better spouse, house, car... etc. The apostle Paul said, 'having food and clothing, we hall be content.' I know too many people who attend church who are very steeped in materialism. They already live in palaces but want more to show off and/ or rub their station in life, riches in others, noses.
But these very things I can apply to myself. Application starts with me.

We are supposed to get about 6 inches of snow tonight and I can promise you that there will be a good many traffic accidents with people driving while on the cell phone and with bald tires. It happens ever year up here.
