Active Troops Disagree with Powell
October 21, 2008

Every American claims to “support the troops,” even those who have actively worked around the clock for years to “undermine the troops.”

Over the weekend, the man who recently traveled to the United Nations to lay out a very convincing case against the Hussein regime in Iraq put his race and his personal legacy ahead of his country and our troops by endorsing another Hussein for President of the United States.

Colin Powell has never been an honest Republican. He has only been an honest opportunist. Once Obama offered him a high level position in his administration, Powell was quick to join the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the American electorate.

But The Chickens Are Coming Home To Roost!

Powell used intelligence from agencies still headed by Clinton appointees to make a very convincing case to the world for why Saddam Hussein had to be removed from power. For the record, despite the Clinton appointees, the intelligence was largely correct and Powell’s case at the UN was well justified.

But then the anti-war left prevalent in the State Department and CIA perverted Powell’s original assessment through a laundry list of fraudulent charges against the Bush administration. And even though Powell knew that it was his assistant, Richard Armitage, who had disclosed the “unclassified” name Valerie Plame, he sat on that information and let Bush, Cheney and in the end Scooter Libby, take the fall.

Powell is a pure self-absorbed opportunist and nothing more.

The Real Troops Speak Out!

Well known left-leaning media giant Gannett News Service, which owns a multitude of newspapers, radio stations, and other publications in the U.S. and the UK, also has a long history of supporting the Democrat Party.

Gannett also owns Military Times, Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Times, among others. They have on many occasions published anti-war and anti-Iraq articles across the mainstream press and in the military publications, much to the dislike of troops who have told a very different story about Iraq for years now.

But finally, Gannett and Military Times decided to allow the real troops’ voice to be heard by publishing a military wide presidential election survey of active duty soldiers from all branches.

Here Are The Hard Results Of Those Current Surveys...

If Soldiers Could Choose Their Own Commander-in-Chief

With the obvious exception of the racial slant in the black vote, which like the civilian black voting bloc trends heavily towards the candidate running as an African-American, no other sector of the military comes even close to supporting Barack Hussein Obama for Commander-in-Chief.

Now, Obama supporters point to Powell. But Powell is a known political opportunist who has clearly taken a side against active duty military members before, and again in this election.

They will attempt to discredit the published results by claiming some right-wing slant. But the Military Times is owned and edited by left-leaning Gannett News Service.

They will call all non-black members of the military “racists” for opposing Obama, just like they label other Americans opposing Obama as “racists.” Never mind the overt racism in the black vote.

They might even try to label these men and women in uniform “fascists” – since they don’t know what a “fascist” really is and have misused the name to describe Bush and Cheney for years now.

But they can’t hurt our soldier’s feelings anymore than they already have by calling them “terrorists” running “Gulags” and “torture chambers.”

Yet The Facts Remain...

Active troops support John McCain 3-to-1 over Barack Obama.

Colin Powell stands to personally gain power and money by supporting Obama. What do the troops stand to gain by supporting John McCain for Commander-in-Chief?

As the men and women actually in Iraq and Afghanistan, who know best what is happening on the ground there and in many other dangerous places around the globe, does their opinion matter to average Americans back home? Do they matter to you?

What Do We Mean When We Say “We Support The Troops?”

There is no ambiguity in the results of the military poll that shows despite a very heavy racial slant among blacks, all branches combined still support McCain by 68% over only 23% for Obama.

What does this mean about Americans back home who do not have their lives on the line, when they vote against the troops?

Who is better qualified to choose the next Commander-in-Chief? The troops “we support,” or the millions back home who have never put on a uniform or taken up a weapon in defense of this nation?

Who has more at stake than our troops in harm’s way, when deciding who the next Commander-in-Chief will be?

What Does It Say About You If Their Opinion Doesn’t Matter To You?

John McCain is “one of them!”

Barack Obama is so far from being “one of them,” that he can’t even begin to imagine what it is to be “one of them.”

The troops will serve under anyone we elect. Some of them will die under whomever we elect.

Do you have what it really takes to “support our troops?” Colin Powell doesn’t... Colin Powell has once again chosen to serve himself.

Read those numbers above. Think about the men and women who answered those surveys. Try to imagine what this election means to them. Then ask yourself why they won’t support Barack Hussein Obama for their next Commander-in-Chief...

Then ask yourself, how can you?

You can stand with leftists attempting to serve themselves if you like...

I, on the other hand, will SUPPORT THE TROOPS who support McCain!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
John 3:16-18

Pride.

Heli-gunner Tom. http://heli-gunnertom.blogspot.com/

PRIDE.

When people say kind words to me and describe me as smart-- in the back of my mind are different ways to digest this info. Who DOESN'T like to hear praise and nice compliments. Most Christians I know and hang around fear a prideful attitude in themselves or others, aside from gentle kidding/ goofing around in fun, because we all know that PRIDE is a big old sin that can send one to hell, or in the short run- displease our Lord and Master, Jesus, and then He has to lovingly correct us, if we are His believers/ followers. I am well aware of this condition and have learned the hard way. Give the praise to the Lord, and He will bless you in a large way. "Pride goes before destruction." - Proverbs 16:18.
I know that I slip up almost every day, and I have to mentally challenge myself: 'am I just putting out information -- or bragging again?' Maybe some smart person out there can help me in understanding myself better... "I get so happy with praise when I get to work with someone who knows how to study hard, retain that knowledge, communicate well while working with me!" "I get so frustrated with stupid, lazy, uninformed people with NO BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF LANGUAGE and work skills/ trade." If a person has served in the military service-- it means [to me] that that individual has had some structured discipline and a job skill-- and I deeply appreciate that! Not that he/ she is 'better' or brave or a hero, or patriotic-- but I like structure in people, including me. Maybe this is a poor example, but if a dog is not trained well, WHAT GOOD IS HE?? Stupid, lazy and intentionally ignorant people cause many accidents, damage and are unsafe to be around, IMHO. Who wants to be around them? It's NOT about 'class distinction' but a hard, smart work ethic, and loving but firm parents who encourage their much loved children to reach out and excel in this world. Jesus had a trade and was educated. Paul was a tent maker. Peter was a fisherman, and so on.
As I have posted many times, I only want to be "balanced" in my life and not too extreme in word and deed. Although right now in 2008, I feel a special urgency to understand, study the Bible and get right with God, and help others too. "Why polish the brass on a sinking ship?" Would we invest all our time, effort and treasure into something that we knew would not exist in the near future? Would a combat soldier stuff a bunch of heavy rocks in his/ her back pack-- or be lazy and NOT carry his basic battle gear, food and water before going on a dangerous mission, logically? I believe that I carried a little extra of what I needed in Vietnam, just to be on the safe side... and I made it home alive, by the grace of God!
Proverbs- Chapter 16 is loaded with wise counsel. It doesn't take much effort to relax with the Good Book and read that one chapter... and if you don't own your own bible-- shame on you! And if you need help in choosing a copy, just email me for info, and I will help you for free. But verses 6:16 says, "There are 6 things that the hates, Yes, even seven which are an abomination to Him: HAUGHTY eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devices wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, and one who spreads strife among brothers." Well, you get the general picture.
I heard that writing a journal or Blog is healthy for you and helps put your thoughts in prospective.... so that we can look back and keep tabs on our thinking and progress. I hope I don't see some president of constant pride in my journals because I WANT TO PROGRESS and gain more fruits of the Spirit. I have added many personal things in my Journals so that people mightget to know me better.
Your comments are very welcome.... and 98% of my comments are positive. thank you!

Friends Can Save Us From Pity Parties

by Dalton Roberts – Columnist for the Chattanooga Times Free Press*
October 19, 2008

Pity Party"The Buddha was certainly right in saying that suffering is a large part of our life journey. But Helen Keller was also right in saying, 'So is the overcoming of suffering.'"Dalton Roberts

Naomi Patterson reminded me today that some of my best pity parties have evaporated when a good friend walked in.

One of my most delicious insights in creating friends by computer has been that some of them become as dear to you as friends you know well and see often. That's how I feel about Naomi. We started emailing soon after I went online and she has become very special to me. She is a columnist for the Topeka Capitol Journal ** and has written three books of poetry that I own and treasure.

It is beautiful how she takes so many life experiences - good or bad - as another good excuse to write a poem. We all have to develop personal survival techniques and what could beat whipping some challenge with a poem?

In her latest creation titled "Party Crashers" she writes,

"My semi-annual pity bash began without a hitch. Stunning in a sackcloth gown, I sprinkled ashes in my wake, mixed hot tears with lemon rind to keep the wounds alive, and rolled my pain in salt … But unexpected visitors arrived and spoiled my plans. One showed up with flowers that brightened my décor, another ran an errand that spared me time and grief … Another pity party flop, hijacked by my friends."

Isn't that a marvelous description of what happens to us when we sit patting out our melancholy mud pies and a much-loved friend shows up? We are really energy beings and the energy field of a friend can often neutralize all the negative stuff in our own energy field. "Neutralize" is really too weak a word to describe how powerful it can be at times. It can be as powerful as a Roman candle moving through all the dark corners of our being spreading sparkles.

Churchill said when Franklin Delano Roosevelt walked in a room it was like popping the cork on a bottle of champagne. Every single one of us is a cork popper to someone.

I think about the extreme pain that gripped me at Memorial Hospital when my mother was dying. Stan McCready, one of my favorite ministers, walked in and brought consoling thoughts. Then a freshly trained young Wesleyan minister, Allen Morgan, came in and prayed a powerful, healing prayer. But the biggest surprise of all was the energy changes I felt over those 16 days from visits by friends with no special training in comfort and healing.

I am not saying the emotions we experience at the passing of our mothers are a pity party but we all know that such times can quickly destabilize us and lead to prolonged pity parties. Any negative experience can hurl us into that dark closet.

One thing I've learned is that the earlier in our pain a friend arrives, the better our odds of avoiding a pity party. Once we are frozen in a pain pattern, the harder it is for us to dislodge.

I spent most of a day with a musician friend who was dogged by depression. I made him promise to call me if he was thinking of suicide. He didn't. He took a handful of pills and drank a half pint of vodka. His landlord found him three days later.

Mental health experts may disagree with me but I think even clinical depression in its early stages can be influenced by the appearance of a friend.

The same friend had been on the verge of suicide the day I visited him and stayed all day. Toward the end of the day we were making music, laughing and swapping tales from our musical trails.

The Buddha was certainly right in saying that suffering is a large part of our life journey. But Helen Keller was also right in saying, "So is the overcoming of suffering." And sometimes we overcome suffering when we open our door for the visit of a friend.
