PA to Ask UN Security Council for Statehood on Sept 23

The Palestinian Authority has announced it will submit its application to the United Nations Security Council to appeal for recognition as a new country and attain acceptance in the body.
PA Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki announced Thursday that the entity plans to submit its bid for full U.N. membership with the Council on Friday, September 23. The announcement ended speculation that Abbas would consider alternate plans forwarded by various diplomats who had frantically tried to dissuade the PA from pursuing a unilateral course via the U.N.
Nevertheless, a parade of envoys from the United States, the European Union and the Quartet of Nations (comprised of the U.S., Russia, the EU and the U.N.) are still engaged in trying to persuade the PA to return to the negotiating table with Israel.
“We will see if any of them is carrying a credible offer that will allow us to look into it seriously,” al-Maliki told reporters in Ramallah. “Otherwise, on the 23rd at 12:30 p.m. [Abbas] will submit the application.”
The United States, a permanent member of the Council, has already announced that it will exercise its veto to block the move.  Read on...

A former head of Saudi Arabian intelligence and ex-ambassador to Washington, Turki al-Faisal said: ''The United States must support the Palestinian bid for statehood at the United Nations this month or risk losing the little credibility it has in the Arab world. If it does not, American influence will decline further, Israeli security will be undermined and Iran will be empowered, increasing the chances of another war in the region,'' Mr Faisal says.
''Moreover, Saudi Arabia would no longer be able to co-operate with America in the same way it historically has. With most of the Arab world in upheaval, the 'special relationship' between Saudi Arabia and the United States would increasingly be seen as toxic by the vast majority of Arabs and Muslims, who demand justice for the Palestinian people.'' He adds: ''Saudi leaders would be forced by domestic and regional pressures to adopt a far more independent and assertive foreign policy.''
''American support for Palestinian statehood is therefore crucial, and a veto will have profound negative consequences. In addition to causing substantial damage to American-Saudi relations and provoking uproar among Muslims worldwide, the United States would further undermine its relations with the Muslim world, empower Iran and threaten regional stability,''
God says:  “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. …Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.’ “On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.”  (Zechariah 12:2-6)
The Jerusalem Connection says:  It appears God is setting the stage for the fulfillment of Zechariah’s prophecy. Humanly speaking the Palestinians' unilateral attempt at acquiring statehood is a geopolitical train wreck waiting to happen. More to the point however, it is an act of blatant defiance against the God of Israel and his covenant promise for a homeland for the Jewish people. Hopefully it will serve as a wake up call causing us to recognize that we really don’t have any friends in the Muslim world. There are some unprecedented catastrophes that must take place before the kingdom of God comes on earth as it is heaven. May those events be accelerated so that “the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.”(Isaiah 9:6-7)

We Christians wish that we could reach the stubborn ones with the great news of the Gospel and salvation-- but for the most part it just will not happen.  Go figure that the 'Greatest Teacher' of all time could not change the minds of most religious leaders and scoffers when He was on earth in His ministry!   And persecution comes with the territory, so we ought to grow a thick skin and deal with reality.  'Our is not to ponder why-- our is but to do or die.'  

Below is some help that may help us in our ministry to convince and reason with those who honestly want some facts about my pet subject, the Rapture.  Israel looks all alone with big bullies surrounding it with large armies, but all forget that God is on Israel's side ready to protect them!  Once Israel wins the battle/ war with her mean neighbors-- a new era will begin with the old Mosaic Law code and animals sacrifices being reinstated, etc.,  and then there will be NO reason for the Church to remain on earth-- thus the Rapture!  That is why we should have a sense of urgency.  Do not be caught unaware when that day comes-- do not be 'left behind!'

Well, I am finally 'seated' in the new VA hospital in North Chicago with a new doctor and many tests and evaluations.  I am very anemic, losing blood somewhere and scheduled for a G.I. procedure, and many other things.  My BP is very low too, and the doc is worried. So I am taking more new pills to build up my blood level, iron, etc., and have promised to comply with the doc.  It's easy to get lost at the new place in North Chicago.

It's also getting darn cold in WI lately! Brrrr.  I am walking a bit better after 3 whole months of mending, and just paying my bills-- kind of lonely here all alone with just the dog for company.  I hope the cleaning lady comes today to help me with the house.

Origen of Catholic Church.

The "truth shall set you free"!  But the truth is not always palatable, and the Bible is like a 'two-edged sword that can cut through all sorts of strong stuff and reveal the contents of the heart.'  Personally,  I had to make a choice when confronted with the real truth of the Bible that I learned after I got home from war in Vietnam, and that usually means taking scorn, teasing and insults from close family members at home, etc.  Choose the truth ONLY if you are ready for a dividing and confrontation of your own family and friends-- because MOST folks don't want the TRUTH!   It just comes with the territory.  "Iron sharpens Iron."  And sad to say, many if not most folks are NOT made of iron, so they will not hold a sharp edge when tested by the raw facts -- and 'good steel' of the Bible-- and thus we see many if not most politicians would rather live the lie rather than face the truth-- just so they can keep all their power, glory and riches of staying in office.  They take the easy way out-- not the honorable way in life.

Mr. Obama was elected partially because the Catholics voted collectively 'in a block form/ structure ' for him, and many folks believe that the Catholic church supports Socialism, and 'sharing the wealth.'  Where have we heard that one before...? Just ask other Catholics and find out the truth, generally speaking, whom they voted for, and why!  Don't you think and know that statistics were recorded and broken down into groups ??  But I even made many mistakes and voted the wrong way-- in the past, IMHO., but I didn't see a lot of choices either, and was ignorant and belonged to a Union too, in the good old days, etc. 
   The following may be disturbing...  sorry.  Have a great day, friends.  I have a hectic, stressful  day in front of me tomorrow with some new doctors.   Does anyone know how to deal with tendinitis?  Any herbs or home made remedies?   Email:  tschuckman@aol.com

Question: "What is the origin of the Catholic Church?"

Answer: The Roman Catholic Church contends that its origin is the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ in approximately A.D. 30. The Catholic Church proclaims itself to be the church that Jesus Christ died for, the church that was established and built by the apostles. Is that the true origin of the Catholic Church? On the contrary. Even a cursory reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles. In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture. So, if the origin of the Catholic Church is not in the teachings of Jesus and His apostles, as recorded in the New Testament, what is the true origin of the Catholic Church?

For the first 280 years of Christian history, Christianity was banned by the Roman Empire, and Christians were terribly persecuted. This changed after the “conversion” of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Constantine “legalized” Christianity with the Edict of Milan in A.D. 313. Later, in A.D. 325, Constantine called the Council of Nicea in an attempt to unify Christianity. Constantine envisioned Christianity as a religion that could unite the Roman Empire, which at that time was beginning to fragment and divide. While this may have seemed to be a positive development for the Christian church, the results were anything but positive. Just as Constantine refused to fully embrace the Christian faith, but continued many of his pagan beliefs and practices, so the Christian church that Constantine promoted was a mixture of true Christianity and Roman paganism.

Constantine found that with the Roman Empire being so vast, expansive, and diverse, not everyone would agree to forsake his or her religious beliefs to embrace Christianity. So, Constantine allowed, and even promoted, the “Christianization” of pagan beliefs. Completely pagan and utterly unbiblical beliefs were given new “Christian” identities. Some clear examples of this are as follows:

(1) The Cult of Isis, an Egyptian mother-goddess religion, was absorbed into Christianity by replacing Isis with Mary. Many of the titles that were used for Isis, such as “Queen of Heaven,” “Mother of God,” and theotokos (“God-bearer”) were attached to Mary. Mary was given an exalted role in the Christian faith, far beyond what the Bible ascribes to her, in order to attract Isis worshippers to a faith they would not otherwise embrace. Many temples to Isis were, in fact, converted into temples dedicated to Mary. The first clear hints of Catholic Mariology occur in the writings of Origen, who lived in Alexandria, Egypt, which happened to be the focal point of Isis worship.

(2) Mithraism was a religion in the Roman Empire in the 1st through 5th centuries A.D. It was very popular among the Romans, especially among Roman soldiers, and was possibly the religion of several Roman emperors. While Mithraism was never given “official” status in the Roman Empire, it was the de facto official religion until Constantine and succeeding Roman emperors replaced Mithraism with Christianity. One of the key features of Mithraism was a sacrificial meal, which involved eating the flesh and drinking the blood of a bull. Mithras, the god of Mithraism, was “present” in the flesh and blood of the bull, and when consumed, granted salvation to those who partook of the sacrificial meal (this is known as theophagy, the eating of one’s god). Mithraism also had seven “sacraments,” making the similarities between Mithraism and Roman Catholicism too many to ignore. Constantine and his successors found an easy substitute for the sacrificial meal of Mithraism in the concept of the Lord’s Supper/Christian communion. Sadly, some early Christians had already begun to attach mysticism to the Lord’s Supper, rejecting the biblical concept of a simple and worshipful remembrance of Christ’s death and shed blood. The Romanization of the Lord’s Supper made the transition to a sacrificial consumption of Jesus Christ, now known as the Catholic Mass/Eucharist, complete.

(3) Most Roman emperors (and citizens) were henotheists. A henotheist is one who believes in the existence of many gods, but focuses primarily on one particular god or considers one particular god supreme over the other gods. For example, the Roman god Jupiter was supreme over the Roman pantheon of gods. Roman sailors were often worshippers of Neptune, the god of the oceans. When the Catholic Church absorbed Roman paganism, it simply replaced the pantheon of gods with the saints. Just as the Roman pantheon of gods had a god of love, a god of peace, a god of war, a god of strength, a god of wisdom, etc., so the Catholic Church has a saint who is “in charge” over each of these, and many other categories. Just as many Roman cities had a god specific to the city, so the Catholic Church provided “patron saints” for the cities.

(4) The supremacy of the Roman bishop (the papacy) was created with the support of the Roman emperors. With the city of Rome being the center of government for the Roman Empire, and with the Roman emperors living in Rome, the city of Rome rose to prominence in all facets of life. Constantine and his successors gave their support to the bishop of Rome as the supreme ruler of the church. Of course, it is best for the unity of the Roman Empire that the government and state religion be centered in the same location. While most other bishops (and Christians) resisted the idea of the Roman bishop being supreme, the Roman bishop eventually rose to supremacy, due to the power and influence of the Roman emperors. When the Roman Empire collapsed, the popes took on the title that had previously belonged to the Roman emperors – Pontificus Maximus.

Many more examples could be given. These four should suffice in demonstrating the true origin of the Catholic Church. Of course the Roman Catholic Church denies the pagan origin of its beliefs and practices. The Catholic Church disguises its pagan beliefs under layers of complicated theology. The Catholic Church excuses and denies its pagan origin beneath the mask of “church tradition.” Recognizing that many of its beliefs and practices are utterly foreign to Scripture, the Catholic Church is forced to deny the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.

The origin of the Catholic Church is the tragic compromise of Christianity with the pagan religions that surrounded it. Instead of proclaiming the gospel and converting the pagans, the Catholic Church “Christianized” the pagan religions, and “paganized” Christianity. By blurring the differences and erasing the distinctions, yes, the Catholic Church made itself attractive to the people of the Roman Empire. One result was the Catholic Church becoming the supreme religion in the “Roman world” for centuries. However, another result was the most dominant form of Christianity apostatizing from the true gospel of Jesus Christ and the true proclamation of God’s Word.

Second Timothy 4:3-4 declares, “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

Friends,  I needed to read this just about as much as everyone else-- in the Christian world.  If I know and understand this principle of MERCY-- I will be a lot more less stressful and less tightly wrapped.   'Thank you, Lord, for putting this spiritual food on my plate in "due season" -- just when I need it the most!'  PTL, for all the new, fine friends I have made this past year.  Some pass on [and we weep and cry, grieve and grow depressed -- and then others march forward to bear a hand and support me and othes.  Pray that I can step forward and pick up the slack too-- helping those who mourn and cry out: 'Help me, Father!'
Yep, it's almost been 3 whole months after my left knee replacement surgery, and time to push myself a bit-- even after this last terrible accident took the 'wind out of my sails' and will cost me more money.  And I am having the experts check out my CPAP breathing machine very soon, because I get so sleepy all the time, so I want to cover all angles to find out why I am so tired and weak.

I 'feel' something much bigger will 'steal the spot light' on the world scene to dwarf the personal minor things that befall us all, as the hard times keep pouring in on us.  Go figure:  Many on the East Coast don't even have power yet, or even a place to lay down at night!!  Pray for rain in Texas, especially on our Christian brethren.   

Lord, help me save my money for another 2nd hand vehicle for when the repair shop is working on my Ram truck.  I went to look at one truck today-- but it was already GONE!

Your Maturity is Showing  by Heidi Swander   September 7, 2011    www.olivetreeviews.org   I recently wrote these words as an introduction to another person's blog post I was sharing on my personal Web site: "In the days we live, spiritual maturity is so vital, yet so lacking.  And lest we think we've arrived because we believe we can discern truth from error where something like the Emergent Church is concerned, or because we think we've got the goods on the Pre-Trib Rapture of the Church -- as Paul says,  we must not think too highly of ourselves.  A self-centered attitude; a merciless attitude toward fellow believers -- true believers, I'm talking; a basic holier-than-thou attitude that preens itself because of the perception that we're more well-versed in 'the truth'-- these attitudes also show a decided lack of maturity in our daily walk with Jesus Christ.  And then I went to work Friday and experienced the fleshing-out of this.  Believers who took issue with a particular Christian leader began to castigate him to us for his actions with which they disagreed. Perhaps it would be a good idea to disassociate with him, some suggested to us, because he's obviously headed in the direction of apostasy. Let me ask you a question: At what point does a fellow Christian deserve to be ostracized for their perceived apostasy? Where do you draw the line regarding Christians you will and will not fellowship with? When has a spiritual leader made a definitive decline into error? Sorry, that's three questions. Well, think about them for a moment. They're important questions to answer. While you're thinking, I will admit to you that I am weary of the spiritual immaturity of many "discerning" believers. I am tired of the circular firing squads that have been drafted that position Christians to repeatedly fire on each other.   I'm worn out from bitter, caustic diatribes toward fellow believers who have not proved to be ambassadors of the enemy at all, but someone we have short-changed by not allowing discourse on their perceived error. Don't get me wrong: There are plenty of times, in these last days, when we must "contend earnestly for the faith." But the wise man or woman must discern when to contend and when to counsel. Let me explain what God has been teaching me. While Priscilla and Aquilla were serving God in Ephesus, a man named Apollos came to town. According to Luke, who authored the narrative, Apollos was "mighty in the Scriptures . . . fervent in spirit . . . and spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord." BUT -- and this is a big but -- "he knew only the baptism of John." So here we are in the decade after Christ's death and resurrection, along comes this fiery preacher teaching the Word of God to the best of his knowledge, but his knowledge was incomplete by a long shot. He'd entirely missed the story of the Savior who died a substitutionary death for sin. Because of this he was, in effect, teaching error -- but without meaning to. This last phrase is extremely important. What did Priscilla and Aquilla do?   Did they disassociate from him?   Did they badmouth him to all the Christians in Ephesus and encourage the church at large to shun him? No. The Scripture says that, "they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately." They privately spoke with him, and it appears evident from the context that he humbly accepted their information, corrected his message and went on to serve God with great fervor. Now counter that with these two men: Hymenaeus and Alexander. Paul mentions them twice to Timothy in his letters. Paul explained to Timothy that the faith of these two men had "suffered shipwreck" and that he had delivered them to Satan so that they would learn not to blaspheme. He specifically told Timothy that they had "strayed concerning the truth" and that their teaching had overthrown the faith of some believers. These men were belligerent false teachers. The note in my study Bible says, "They had been in the church, heard the gospel and rejected it in favor of false doctrine. Apostasy is a turning away from the gospel." As the Lord brought these two stories to my mind I could clearly see the difference between the ignorance and humility of Apollos and the antagonism and defiant behavior of Hymenaeus and Alexander. One was just not well-informed, but upon becoming informed respectfully changed his course and teaching. The other men flatly rejected the truth and destructively taught error. Do you see the difference? Here's another nugget God showed me just this morning. God delights in mercy (defined as "a disposition to be kind and forgiving; compassionate.") Paul describes our Father as rich in mercy. In fact, the Bible is full of verses describing God as a God of mercy. Take a concordance and study it yourself. Now, not only does God, Himself, delight in being merciful, but He requires that we be merciful as well.   James says that "the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits . . ." (James 3:17). When we are quick to judge our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, assume they should know about a certain doctrine or error or false teacher because we do, and harshly judge and criticize them without first ascertaining their attitude toward being informed and corrected, that is not a merciful attitude. It is not a peaceable attitude. It is not a Christ-honoring, Christ-like attitude. It is proud and self-centered and wrong. We must always keep in mind that we are each at a different level of spiritual maturity and we each grow up in Christ at a different pace. We must not assume that another believer has all the information we do and immediately judge them as rebellious or apostate until we know for certain that they have, in fact, purposely strayed from the truth as presented in Scripture. If it is simply a matter of immaturity and we judge them inaccurately, we do both them and ourselves a disservice, and can bring harm to the reputation of Jesus Christ, for whom we are called as ambassadors. Paul warned the Galatians to have a "spirit of gentleness" about them as they sought to restore wayward believers, and to consider themselves -- their own relationship with God -- as they did so. We are still incarcerated in sinful flesh and it is so easy to fall into pride or harsh judging or self-exalting behavior. We must, as well, continually examine what we believe to be true in light of Scripture. In the final analysis, it's not simply what we know -- the facts. It's Who we know -- not just relationally, but intimately.  We must strive to grow up in Jesus Christ - into  well-rounded, scripturally-grounded testimonies to the world, so that we reflect His character more and more every day.  May we each spend time in the whole counsel of God, growing our spirits while simultaneously discerning truth from error in these last days. Yes,  I attend a Baptist church in WI., where the vast majority of members there are descent, loving, kind, truthful servants of God, and very knowledgeable of the Bible, and that is what I like most about them.  But I also stand for truth, the total truth, knowing that horrible stuff like this article happens and needs to be exposed, judged and set on record.  I feel that it's very important that this link gets  published and shared--- as a great injustice has been done to an innocent girl, so let's set the matter straight.   Better to take our punishment now in this 'system' - on earth... rather than in the next 'system' for all eternity at God's displeasure.  On the other hand-- I bet this justice would NEVER happen in a Islamic country.
    Dear Lord, please correct us in your loving kindness-- and not in your wrath.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.

Ernest Willis, a 52-year-old New Hampshire man, was found guilty of raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl from his church who was shipped to Colorado by church leaders to give birth to his baby. Willis faces up to 54 years in prison for the sexual assault, The Denver Post reports. Willis will be sentenced Tuesday in Merrimack Superior Court.
UPDATE:
The Associated Press reports that Ernest Willis was sentenced Tuesday to 15 to 30 years in prison for raping Tina Anderson twice in 1997. Judge Larry Smukler said that Willis "robbed the girl of her childhood." But Willis was stoic and although he said he was "sorry and ashamed for this thoughtless act of sexual misconduct," he never admitted to forcible rape or to a second rape. Willis' lawyers said they are planning to appeal those convictions.

Tina Anderson, who was 15 at the time of the rape, knew Willis from babysitting his children and from attending the same fundamentalist Baptist church in Concord, N.H.. The church pastor made young Anderson apologize to the congregation when she discovered that she was pregnant, but she was not allowed to tell the church goers that the pregnancy occurred because she was raped. With the consent of Anderson’s mother, the pastor then shipped the teenager to the home of a Colorado couple that she didn’t know and arranged for her baby to be adopted, according to ABC News.
7News reports that Wayne Coull, prosecutor in the case, told jurors that Anderson “got shamed, shunned, silenced and sent away.”
Concord police had shelved the case back in 1997 when they couldn’t locate the victim, completely unaware she’d been moved to Colorado. But in 2010 they revived the case when they learned of her whereabouts, according to CBSDenver.
The girl was located, now as an adult, with the help of an online website for former Fundamentalist Baptists.
Matt Barnhart, a former member of the Trinity Baptist Church who witnessed the day that Anderson was shamed and forced to apologize to the church described the event just last year on a website maintained by a group called “Independent Fundamentalist Baptist cult survivors,” the Houston Chronicle reports. The website founder contacted Barnhart and learned the girl’s identity and passed the information along to Concord police.
After 13 years of keeping this secret, Anderson, now 29 and living in Arizona with her husband and three children, was contacted by police in 2010 to finally make a statement about the events of 1997, according to the UK Daily Mail.
The Associated Press reports that Anderson made this statement to the court:

When Ernie raped me, he destroyed the person I was and, in that moment, filled me with shame and guilt that I’ve battled against repeatedly. When he decided that his sexual gratification was the most important thing in his life, he shattered mine.

Willis had previously admitted to having sex with Anderson in 1997, but claimed it was consensual. When Anderson resurfaced in 2010, Willis was arrested and remained free on bail until his May 27 conviction, The Associated Press reports.
