Our Present Administration's Attack on Veterans' TriCare.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

Happy Independence Day -- July 4th, 2012 !!

We went to the Iron Mtn.,MI., Parade this morning in the hot, super sunny day @ 0900, but had a good time!  It lasted about 2 hours and glad that I always pack some small bottles of water and Schwepps Ginger Ale in the back seat of the Dodge Ram 4 by 4.  Even the local news paper said that we would experience record heat today!   I feel rich because I won't live in a house that doesn't have a good A/C  system...Ha!  We are  truly blessed U.P. here.  After the parade, we went to a different, better, cooler Chinese restaurant with a great food selection banquet style.  Eat the best fresh food in cool comfort!  That will be my new regular place to eat lunch, for sure... and reasonable price too.

And today's subject is:  the Gov't's attack on Veterans' Health Ins --TriCare-- the VA hospitals...  and what a sorry story.  The illegal aliens get everything -- but the Veterans who gave their all for Amerika get stink on a stick!! And yes, I do have an axe to grind, personally.

Two years ago, I was at the end of my rope with real arthritic pain in my knees and allowed the Milwaukee VA operate/ replace my knees with bionic steel and plastic, and they REALLY MESSED ME UP!!  The pain was surreal, over the top, and the  total, constant, physical and mental abuse by the VA staff, especially the black RN's and staff on the 3rd shift.  I was never bathed or cleaned for the 5 days I was there, and they treated me worse than a POW or a criminal!!  I did not deserve that, and they actually ganged up on me and lied about me, that I wanted to start trouble.....Ha!  But what do you expect from that 'sort'.   Don't believe me.  Many other Veterans have their own horror stories about the VA hospitals all over the USA, but especially the Milwaukee VA hospital.  North Chicago VAMC used to be horrible, but they were forced to clean up their act..  finally.   Feel free to email, or just post your own story.  I told the doctors that I would NEVER, EVER let them touch me again -- that I would rather be DEAD, than allow them to "treat me."

The reason I know so much is because I decided to have my other [Left] knee replace 6 months latter at a good civilian hospital in Kenosha, WI.  The doctors and staff treated me like a prince, and the pain and recovery was half as bad as the other knee-- messed up by the VA system, 'doctors' and staff.  I kept a good journal at both places to keep track of things.  Also, Bro. Bill Tippett, my close fellow Vet friend was my Patient Advocate, and Power of Attorney, while I was in the other, good hospital [Kenosha Memorial Hosp...in Wisconsin, down by Lake Michigan].  The civilian surgeon, doctor James Shapiro, was a talented, grand master in my case, and said it was simple, child's play, to do a replacement on me, even as I refused to take blood, for personal reasons, and he grumbled a little bit about that... but it all turned out fine, and my recovery was better too... PTL.  You be the judge...

Budget Cutters Renew Attack on Tricare Medical Insurance

No one would ever believe that the current administration wants to increase U.S. military veterans medical fees after hearing President Obama say on Memorial Day during a thoughtful speech at the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C., “Let’s resolve to take care of our veterans as well as they’ve taken care of us – not just talk, but actions. Not just in the first five years after a war, but the first five decades.”
Based upon President Obama’s own words, this Memorial Day message exemplifies a hypocritical and misleading statement. It clearly implies our veterans are going to be cared for under this administration. His feel good statement on such a symbolic day of remembrance, dedicated to those who have sacrificed their lives for our country, is insulting to surviving veterans who trust our Commander in Chief has their best interests at heart.
Here is the evidence that demonstrates the contrary:
Earlier this year, Pentagon budget officials came under fire for their efforts to hike medical insurance (Tricare) fees on U.S. military veterans. Fortunately, Congressional committees in the Republican-controlled House and the Democratic-controlled Senate blocked those fee increases while considering defense appropriations bills.
However, if you thought that debate was over, the Obama administration hasn’t given up in their efforts to demand more from our veterans’ wallets. From the Washington Free Beacon:
The Obama administration on Friday threatened to veto a defense appropriations bill in part because it does not include higher health care fees for members of the military.
“The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested
TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.
President Obama’s most recent budget proposal includes billions of dollars in higher fees for members of TRICARE, the military health care system, and is part of the administration’s plan to cut nearly $500 billion from the Pentagon’s budget.
There’s no question the explosion of federal spending over the last decade is completely unsustainable. What’s alarming is that the Obama administration thinks it’s appropriate to demand that veterans pay more for their care, while ignoring the much larger programs that are driving the growth in federal spending.
While the effort to demand higher fees from Tricare beneficiaries continues, no effort is being made to reform spending in Social Security or Medicare, both of which are orders of magnitude larger than veterans’ benefits. Indeed, under the president’s controversial health care reform law, Medicaid spending, another gigantic spending program, is slated to expand costs dramatically.
What’s needed is a smart, comprehensive plan to cut spending throughout government programs—but officials in Washington lack the willingness or ability to deliver that plan. The insane spending demonstrates what is quickly becoming an entitlement society, fueled by our Congressional leaders’ addiction to handicap tax paying citizens with unsustainable federal programs. Unfortunately, leading the charge now is an administration that is willing to use this country’s military veterans as another source of revenue to continue with its excessive spending.
Our military personnel and veterans have struggled and sacrificed; they do not want to see all they defended jeopardized by an irresponsible government’s addiction to debt and spending. As we celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s independence this week, it’s unconscionable that the administration should be targeting the men and women who have fought and served to ensure our freedoms.
Make sure, as President Obama stated just a few weeks ago, that our government truly works, “to take care of our veterans as well as they’ve taken care of us”.

Time to start eating some RED MEAT.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

I pity some of the folks who remain on the bottle of milk all their lives, never intending to move forward and learn the heavy things of the Bible.  Or am I just so hungry for red meat and satisfying my craving for the truth -- should some false preacher come along like the Piped Piper, to led away many weak Christians...?    It happened to me back in 1971 afgter I got home from Vietnam when I was emotionally weak with PTSD, etc., looking for the truth -- but I was not raised with the Bible, as my family was steeped in Catholicism ritual, instead of practical bible knowledge.

A good example is the JW's [Jehovah's Witnesses] cult, who had to invent their own copy of the Bible [the New World "Translation"] that I personally studied for 22 years  --because the KJV that they were using  had too much truth in it.   They truncated, twisted and perverted the Greek term: "Parousia", as the writter makes abundantly clear how it should be used and understand.   An old bible slogan that goes something like this:  'If something makes sense to you the first time --seek not any other kind of sense.'

The following article may be meaty for some, but it's important to push yourself a little farther and learn the proper meaning of things scriptural-- so we don't get misled by so many fakes and false prophets, preachers, churches now days.   Even old, well studied geezers like me need to be careful, and check things out before we swallow them.  Enjoy.

Hot Sunday.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

Hi, my roasted, toasted Friends and Readers!

I know that I MUST be losing a few pounds when I sweat in the sun every day in our nice, back yard, on the new deck, as I read, study or just listen to the local radio station in Iron Mountain, MI., and life is good, and much better than the poor folks getting hit with super hot air temps., and wicked storms-- with perhaps five million out of power and water... Wow!

Please don't read me wrong or lump me in with some of those crazy people-- "that God punishes people on earth with bad weather" for "their bad sins."  But in years and months past I DID offer up an exciting book called:  "AS AMERICA HAS DONE TO ISRAEL."  And that book documented every thing the WH did something very displeasing to God's protected, favored country, ISRAEL,  bad things happen in the USA... [See:  Genesis 12:3.]  'But as for me and my household-- we shall serve the Lord.' ~book of Joshua.  I am smart enough never to do or say something so MAJOR and stupid so as to displease the Lord, to really profane His holy Name, or hurt or curse His favored people, Israel.   "Do you feel lucky today, punk" -- is a real thing, guys!  A dumb punk may just try to see if he can 'dare' God, by saying something stupid, like:  'There is no God.'   There are some things you just never do in real life, or say, or suggest.

Call me superstitutious, but I will not do, or entertain certain things I know are wrong or condemned by God -- for fear... and yes, the Bible tells me so.   "Do not be deceived;  God is not mocked:  for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." ~Paul to the Galatians, Chapter 6, verse 7.   It's just a vicious, spiraling, slow burn, like an airplance going down in a crash-- with no 'recovery.'  That is our new, hopey- changy, liberal system, where anything goes, everything is OK, if it feels good-- do your thing-- that started in the 1960's and got much worse in the 80's-- and just look at the Army and  Navy  NOW WITH LEGAL HOMOSEXUALITY!!!  When the primary element in society is broken -- the FAMILY UNIT, the rest of the Society goes down with it, until that so-called "World Power" becomes a 2nd or 3rd rate power, and then it's almost impossible to recover that precious FREEDOM that so many brave, true patriots bled and died for.  It's GONE-- it's OVER!   Many combat Veterans have seen the hopeless poverty and break down in a 3rd world country, where basic necessities are hard to be had.  Israel was punished severely in ancient times by her enemies-- because they broke the holy convenant [Contract with God], time and again....  but they still had that Abrahamic Covenant, as a chosen, favored people, in the end.    Amerika, DOES NOT HAVE A 'GET OUT OF JAIL, FREE CARD'... nor are we a 'favored nation' with the Lord of Heaven !!!   We  WERE  [PAST TENSE]  mightily blessed, and big time, for the 1st hundred years of our history BECAUSE we protected and blessed the Hebrew/ Jewish people, from the time of the American Revolution, onward.  But the last 50 years have seen so mean spirited, low down, tricks played against the children of Israel, even forcing them to sell, or give away their Sacred, God-given home land -- that they as a collective people swore to their Lord and God, Jehovah,  thousands of years ago, in Moses' time!!
Friends, you've  got to know your basic bible history-- lest you be condemned and misled by the Liberal Left, that wants to Socialize you, and rule you, from cradle to grave!  There will eventually be a ONE WORLD GOV'T, and a ONE WORLD RELIGION, shortly after the Rapture.  Everything is going in that direction, and supported buy BOTH political parties in the USA, and also in most other countries.  We won't be able to change that -- but we can, on an individual basis help others to know the Lord-- and get Saved-- and that should be our most important, primary mission RIGHT NOW on earth.  Not the constant party animal mentality of:  'Live for today, and party hardy."   I hope I am not repeating myself too much, friends.

The Jewish people were forced/ required to know, study and remember their past history, so they would not miss the big event of the Messiah's coming thru a certain, specific blood line.

Well, the Messiah is coming again, but in a different capacity, with much more power and Lordship this time, with a sword in His hand.   After the Rapture, He will judge the nations-- those "Left Behind" - and won't that be fun....
Having had a 'blue chip' education in Finance and Investments, I some times use financial analogies to express myself.  When people start to get into credit card debt, one thing leads to another.  Some folks gamble, even with the family mortgage money, their family food money, etc., and destroy the family unit -- and how the children suffer!  Other people 'drink up their rent money' and the children go without food!   I have personally seen that stuff happen when I worked for American Motors/ and Chrysler-- Auto Plant, in Kenosha, WI., where we made a good, living wage, but some folks still could not/ or would not manage their money wisely.  Personally, I know how to get into deep debt -- and I know how to GET OUT of debt too-- there is a formula, but you need to stick with it and never give in to temptation, or cheat!

Even some of my close family members 'stepped around me' even with my Securities license, experience and knowledge-- only to lose their shirts.  Now... I am not gloating over their misfortune, but I know that I could have helped them [and for free] if they had just swallowed their pride and ASKED ME !!  In the past, I have helped many people, and I earned a few bucks commision from PFS Investments, and it gave me a good feeling inside my gut.  In this case, "Knowledge is Power."
But in other cases:  "Action is Power!"  You can have knowledge while sitting on a train track-- that a fast train is coming -- but if you don't take ACTION to get  your anatomy  off the track, guess what might happen???  Duh...  But in the case of Bible prophesy-- it's what WILL happen, and millions of people with the same mind set as I have, see that train coming down the track now!  Personally,  I am not that sort of guy that waits for the very last minute to show how "cool" I am...  I like to give myself a good lead and lots of time, with a packed lunch and a cold drink, punching into work at least 20 minutes early, on the Chrysler assembly line,  etc.

I know that in a war/ or battle, you are going to have sustained, expected casualties that special intelligence officers can calculate on paper with a degree of accuracy.. and that is just the way war is!  So that there is the "Right way, the Wrong way, and the Army way, of doing things.  The Army wants highly trained men and women to perform their individual jobs  [MOS] like/ AS  experts, so that few fall in battle, fewer die, and cost is limited in men and material.  Don't we, as Christian Soldiers want to be well trained and ready for battle too??  Well, we have the best TM [Technical Manual] - the Bible, but few on earth want to MAKE/ TAKE the time to read and study!  Sorry, maybe most are just too darn lazy, or they don't give a hoot.   A bad or lazy soldier not only hurts himself -- but also his 'family' of friends.   A father hurts his kids and family by not doing what he is supposed to do, provide, love, protect and teach his family the most important things in life-- but he has to READ THE BOOK!

Have a beautiful, warm day, and I am going to pray for those poor souls without power and water, from the past storm, and hope I never have to experience that stuff either.  Make sure that your animals have enough clean, cool, water, too.

Warm Regards,
Tommy Schuckman

Tom's Tomahawks.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

Come on now, folks!!  Did any of you really think that Justice would be served yesterday with the Supreme Court ruling on 'obama-care ??' Ha!  Whom of any person you know who has a Spirit anointed understanding of the Bible really thinks that things will get better from 2012 -- onward??  Hey... I got to tell you a secret-- the definition of an expert is:  'Someone who knows everything there is to know about ONE SET SUIBJECT.'  That means that most normal folks who investigate, read, study and research a subject long enough can be an expert in that particular field.  Simple.  I humbly consider myself an expert, and a near expert, in several areas, and my peers respect me as such.  I passed a tough Securities Federal exam back in 1995, and felt good about that!  I have studied the Bible for the past 40 years and feel that I have a firm grasp on the Scriptures.  I have been blessed to have other hobbies, skills, trades, etc., in my life time, plus earned a descent living all my life-- through hard [and smart] work.  Thank you, dear Lord, for giving me those 'tools' and opportunities to do SOMETHING good with my short life thus far, or 63 years!
But what I am really trying to say on this hot, humid day of super sunshine in the U.P. is that we shouldn't really put much of our trust or hope is human accomplishments-- but to trust in the Lord [Proverbs 3:15] and understand what the BIBLE says will happen, now in June 29th, 2012 and on ward, dear friends.  IF, if things do get a bit better for a while-- don't worry, the very next day they will fail... LOL !  Ha!  Not trying to be a pessimist, but a realist...  that if we have a simple pot of baked beans, some bread and pure water, we should count ourselves BLESSED!!  When my pretty, attractive wife, Terri, gets home from hard work of constantly walking on concrete  floors for 8 hours, I know that she will hug and kiss me, and I will rub her sore feet, and serve her some good food, or what ever else she wants to rejuvinate her tired, hot, exhausted body.  I am a Disabled Vietnam Veteran, a retired Chrysler worker with descent benefits, $$$, etc., and so blessed by God to be Saved-- with the grand knowledge that Jesus paid the price for me-- NOT TO GO TO HELL, but gain everlasting life in heaven, ONLY because I CHOOSE to follow and obey Him.  The Bible tells me so. Any questions:  tschuckman@aol.com

There are some things I could be doing today, besides having gone to the bank for some cash, out for Chinese lunch, taking care of our two dogs, Frida, and Deuce the Rotty.  But we've both been pushing it to finish the  new deck and fence in the back yard this past few week-- I think...lol. And I just want to call and email a few friends to see if they are staying cool like I am today.  There are serious, deadly fires out West now, some draught, lack of precipitation, etc., and who knows what our harvest and wheat crop will look like this year.  My motto is:  "Live simple -- live well."

So now what will happen with obama-care?  Personally, I don't care, because it's all academic and prob won't affect me or mine.  I don't expect to even be on earth that long to find out.  I do VOTE for whom ever adheres to the U.S. Constitution, who seems to be qualified and conservative, pay my taxes, etc., but I am not too concerned about all the clamor [although veruy disappointed about yesterday and the "decission"]-- even as the common man is getting shafted and cheated, ripped off.  God will take care of all that in due time... and maybe sooner. And the possiblity of higher officials being scared, bought off, intimidated, in MY mind, is something not too far fetched these days-- even with the SC !  In other words, NOTHING surprises me anymore.

Warm Regards,
Tom

The New-- Fall of the Roman Empire.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

I just wanted to share this good news with muy fellow patriots who still support our U.S. Constitution and fair laws.

Many folks know that I was a "history buff" since my folks transferred us to a Milwaukee [St. Francis] strict Catholic school on Kinnickenic St., called Sacred Heart, for a few years before they bought the farm in Racine Co.  Once I learned to read well, I was a sponge, soaking up all kinds of books, to where my mother called me a book worm, etc., and made fun of me.  I wasn't trying to show off -- I just loved reading and learning -- with a VIVID imagination!  So, after I read the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire,[and there will soon be ANOTHER 'Roman Empire' thru which the Anti-Christ is said to rise soon-- Beware-- ten in book of Revelation, etc]  -- years later, I drew a parallel  to our own country and noticed the many similarities-- kind of spooky!  It's a well know equation of being in bondage, rising to a pinnacle of wealth, prosperity, then drugs and alcohol, depravity-- leading to down fall.  We also know that the average life span of all cultures/ nations, is about 200 years! So... go figure, friends, we are running out of time, and also in God's 'dirt list'.  Thank the Liberals, goofy, socialist, Dems, especially, and the 'destroyer in the WH' for running us off a cliff !!  We can also thank ourselves for sitting on our hands and not doing the research, and vetting the candidate, who came from no where, with no history or college records !!!  Hello!  Hey,  I made huge mistakes too in the past, and voted for the wrong man, so I bear culpability for ur situation too, shame on me.

But God, the FATHER, forgives in a huge way, IF we repent of our evil ways and TRY to fly straight, with the Bible as our guide, thanks to Salvation from Christ on the Cross.  Friends,  I didn't learn all these things in one day -- but studied many years-and also helped by many books, smart men, etc.along with the power of the Holy Spirit, so...YOU CAN DO IT TOO!  You don't want to miss that last plane, or helicopter, out of here.. do you?  I want a 'sure thing' -- not a 'skin of your teeth' chance type of landing, please.  My heart is too old for all this excitment... Ha!

The good pastor and his lovely wife stopped over by our home this morning to get to know us better, as we are newly married, etc., and we compared back grounds, likes and dislikes.  Great fellowship!  I gave him a small present, a "tool" only in friendship, one brother to another, freely, with no expectable of favor in the future.   I told him that God has blessed me, and I wanted to just share something valuable in my eyes with him.  Doing stuff like that makes me feel good inside.  We expressed interest in becoming members of that church U.P. here. He said he comes from the South and doesn't care of the cold weather up in the Great Northern tundra... lol.   Actually, I enjoy the beautiful Summers up here very much.  But this Winter-- if it comes for us-- I will make sure that I have some nice, very WARM clothes !!  Woo Woo!  I am shopping for that stuff already.
And now I will lay in the sun for a while and read a new book about obama... and hope I don't get sick right after I visited the Chinese restaurant.  Terri had to go to work today.  I bought her some milk.

Warm Regards,
Tom

Supreme Court Splits on Arizona Immigration Law

Monday, 25 Jun 2012 10:22 AM

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a key part of Arizona's crackdown on illegal immigrants on Monday, rejecting the Obama administration's stance that only the U.S. government should enforce immigration laws in the United States.

The nation's highest court, in an opinion by Justice Anthony Kennedy, unanimously upheld the state law's most controversial aspect, requiring police officers to check the immigration status of people they stop.

But in a split decision, the justices also ruled that the three other challenged provisions went too far in intruding on federal law, including one that makes it a crime for illegal immigrants to work and another that requires them to carry their documents.

"Arizona may have understandable frustrations with the problems caused by illegal immigration ... but the state may not pursue policies that undermine federal law," Justice Kennedy wrote in a 25-page opinion.

Kennedy said the mandatory nature of police checks did not interfere with the federal immigration scheme, and found unpersuasive the Obama administration's argument that this portion of the law must be preempted at this stage.

He said it was improper to block that provision before state courts had an opportunity to review it, and without some showing that its enforcement conflicted with federal immigration law. Kennedy also left open the possibility for future constitutional or other challenges to the law once it goes into effect.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer hailed the decision as a victory for supporters of tough immigration enforcement.

“Today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is a victory for the rule of law. It is also a victory for the 10th Amendment and all Americans who believe in the inherent right and responsibility of states to defend their citizens," Brewer said in written statement. "After more than two years of legal challenges, the heart of SB 1070 can now be implemented in accordance with the U.S. Constitution." SB 1070 is the official name of the Arizona law.

“While we are grateful for this legal victory, today is an opportunity to reflect on our journey and focus upon the true task ahead: the implementation and enforcement of this law in an even-handed manner that lives up to our highest ideals as American citizens. I know the State of Arizona and its law enforcement officers are up to the task. The case for SB 1070 has always been about our support for the rule of law. That means every law, including those against both illegal immigration and racial profiling. Law enforcement will be held accountable should this statute be misused in a fashion that violates an individual’s civil rights."

U.S. Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl, both of Arizona, also applauded the ruling.

“While we still want to fully review the Supreme Court’s decision, today’s ruling appears to validate a key component of Arizona’s immigration law, SB 1070," read a statement released by the two senators. "The Arizona law was born out of the state’s frustration with the burdens that illegal immigration and continued drug smuggling impose on its schools, hospitals, criminal justice system and fragile desert environment, and an administration that chooses to set enforcement policies based on a political agenda, not the laws as written by Congress. We will continue our efforts on behalf of the citizens of Arizona to secure our southern border. We believe Arizonans are better served when state and federal officials work as partners to protect our citizens rather than as litigants in a courtroom.”

The decision in part was an election-year setback for President Barack Obama. It went to the heart of a fierce national debate between Democrats and Republicans over the 11.5 million illegal immigrants the U.S. government estimates to be in the country.

Obama has vowed to push for comprehensive immigration legislation if re-elected on November 6. Opinion polls show Hispanics, now equal to 16 percent of all Americans, overwhelmingly support Obama.

Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney opposed the administration's challenge to the law.

Arizona, on the southwest border with Mexico, two years ago became the first of half a dozen U.S. states to adopt laws to drive illegal immigrants out. The high court's ruling cleared the way for other states to adopt similar laws.

About 360,000 of the country's illegal immigrants, or 3 percent, reside in Arizona. Most of the state's nearly 2 million Latinos are in the United States legally.

Obama this month announced an important change in federal immigration policy ahead of the election contest Romney, who has taken a tough stance against illegal immigration.

Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who were brought into the United States as children could be able to avoid deportation and get work permits under the policy change announced by Obama. Most illegal immigrants in the United States are Hispanics.

Syria's Christians Plight.

Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/ tschuckman@aol.com

I only have a few minutes before I have to get dressed for church @ the Iron Mountain, MI.,Family Baptist church, near our house.  They have been especially kind to me and supportive, and so I am thankful to have some place to worship and fellowship.  It's so nice to talk to other people of like Faith, where we have the Bible in common, and people do their best in trying to get their personal lives in accord with the Lord... me included.  My wife has to work today-- so she will miss the meetings, but I will fill her in on what happened, of course.

Believers usually do a little research to learn more about what is happening to our fellow brothers and sisters who follow Christ in hostile lands, like Syria.  LOOK!  What is this administration really doing -- by supporting the Muslim Brotherhood??   But is it really a surprise?  Unfortunately, most Americans will say that THEY have a hard time 'keeping up with high taxes, the 'COST OF LIVING', higher food prices, and the gasoline won't stay low forever, friends...

But when REAL Christians attend a good bible teaching church, as Terri and I do, we know that our Salvation is close, and try to live with this understanding every day we have left on earth.  It's a 'paradise' for me, personally, either way...  living with a fine, pretty lady like Terri is so joyful and happy -- but I also know that when the Rapture comes-- things will be a million times better for me, and Terri !!  Wow!  I can and do take a load off Terri, in many ways, to make her life more comfortable, with safety nets and income/ health insurance, etc.  I love helping and supporting her any way I can-- teaching and learning.  But, on the other hand, we both understand that 'Heaven is our real home' so we want to have the right prospective, and live responsibly, with BALANCE and prospective.  We can still enjoy lobsters, prime ribs and a little champagne when we can afford it... lol.

I encourage all my personal friends and readers to check me out on FaceBook, or email:  tschuckman@aol.com

What to Do About Syria

Joseph FarahBy Joseph Farah WND

Twitter RSS Contact Amazon

There’s a certain eery consistency to the Obama administration’s foreign policy.
It’s always wrong.
U.S. support for the rebellion in Syria is a sad illustration.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I have always been a staunch critic of Bashar al-Assad and his tyrant father before him. But, in the Middle East, the choice is often between bad and worse. And, predictably, Barack Obama has chosen worse by siding with Islamists over the authoritarian dictator with plenty of faults of his own.
For Americans, our prime concern should be humanitarian in a conflict like this. While Syria is an anti-Semitic and anti-Israel police state, what will inevitably follow the fall of Assad will make the current regime look like a benevolent picture of stability by comparison.
Syrian Christian village

Christian Persecution

Syria is the home of one of the largest Christian populations in the Middle East. That is largely due to the Christian refugee crisis that was brought about due to the turmoil in Iraq since the U.S. intervention there. While Assad is a bad actor, he has been tolerant of religious minorities, including Christians. In fact, Assad, an Alawite, is part of a religious minority himself.
But if the Assad regime falls, it will mean genocide for the Christian community. In fact, the escalating rebellion is already taking its toll on Syrian Christians.
This hits home for me as the descendant of Christians who fled Syria and Lebanon long ago, as Islam gained more and more influence.
The radical Islamists who form the vanguard of this rebellion are forcing Christians to flee their homes as they advance and intensify their fight to topple Assad.
At least 9,000 Christians from the western Syrian city of Qusayr were forced to seek refuge after an ultimatum from a local military chief of the armed opposition, Abdel Salam Harba, reports the Fides news agency.
In the latest outburst of violence, a Christian man was shot dead by a sniper in Qusayr, which neighbors the restive city of Homs.
There have been reports that some mosques in the city have announced from the minarets: “Christians must leave Qusayr within six days.”
Two Catholic priests who fled Qusayr confirmed to the news agency that they heard the ultimatum “with their own ears” repeated from the minarets.
“The situation is unsustainable in the area and exposed to total lawlessness,” Fides sources on the ground say. They also fear that the fate of Christians in Qusayr could soon affect the 10,000 believers who live in other villages in the area.
The areas controlled by the opposition are witnessing the rise of radical forms of Sunni Islam with the extremists not willing to live in peace with the Christians. Many of these gangs and armed groups operate independently of the Free Syrian Army, which officially rejects such kinds of discrimination against minorities.
Two generations of the Assad regime have guaranteed secular rule in Syria, protecting Christians from discrimination and guaranteeing their rights.
Last week, an armed group broke into and desecrated the Greek-Catholic church of St. Elias in Qusayr.
“It is the first time in the ongoing conflict that such an episode has occurred in which sacred symbols are deliberately hit,” a local source told Fides.
Some 2 million Christians make up about 10 percent of the country’s population with most belonging to the denomination of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch.
The chaos and sectarian violence in post-Assad Syria “will be confessional [religious], and war in the name of God is far worse than a political struggle,” Patriarch Ignatius Joseph III Yonan warned last October, just seven months into the uprising. “And this is what we fear.”
A similar situation has already unfolded in Iraq, where violence has caused more than one-half of the country’s 1.5 million Christians to flee since the beginning of the American-led invasion in 2003. More than 70 churches have been bombed in Iraq during the past eight years, many by al-Qaida insurgents. One of the most serious incidents took place in October 2010, the so-called Black Sunday Massacre, when terrorists opened fire on a service in Baghdad’s Our Lady of Deliverance Chaldean Catholic Church, killing 53 Assyrian Christians.
After the fall of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, about 10,000 Christians have been forced to leave. The trouble is there’s no place for Christians to go in the Middle East. While Jordan is still hospitable, it may also be the next domino to fall to the Muslim Brotherhood revolution sweeping through the region—with the support of the Obama regime.
Is this what Christian America wants to see?
Interventionism in the Middle East is often a bad idea. But it’s worse when the U.S. intervenes on the wrong side.
