Ready for Black Outs of the Grid ?

Hi  Friends,
       You know....  When we were young,  we could take a lot of punishment, hard work, and extremes,  but we would just 'bounce back,' and be ready for more hard work the next day.   Not so with the older folks past age 50 and so !   I used to be a power lifter most of my life, until I had both of my knees replaced with steel and plastic, plus too many accidents with new trucks and motorcycles, not to mention a few helicopter crashes while serving in U.S. Army, in South Vietnam:  68-70.   I was not a clumsy guy,  just in the middle or where the action was !   And I was [past tense] VERY active most of my life,  but a few injuries WILL take the 'slack out of your sails,'  and I know for a fact that I am just so blessed to still be alive after a long, hard, super active life style.   So....  if now days I sit on my butt too much,  please cut me a little slack, boys and girls.
       When I begin writing a story, letter, email, or post on my Blog [great therapy ],  I first "build a foundation" -- or a platform, to jump off from.   I was in college twice, and also studied and read many books on Writing, etc.   I also became a fast reader, and found out that,  believe it or not,  my college English professor said that fast readers actually retain more from their reading !!   Also,  it's the mother in the family that mostly teaches the children to speak --- weather good speech, correct speech -- or bad English.  Go figure,  the mother spends most of the time with her kids.   I believe that day care is NOT the best way to raise a child, at all !!   Yes,  the mother is soooooo  important to the welfare of the child, and how they turn out in life!   One more thing is that a Mother can and should read the Bible to her kids, very early in life.   Now,  you would THINK that they don't understand all that at an early age but you would be wrong !   So,  even if the family is cash poor,  the kids are still getting a better, loving, intellectual and emotion, bring up, and that can make or break them in later life.   Please think about that, dear friends.


As for our American "Power Grid,"  it's a disaster just waiting to happen, and so many people will get hurt, and miss out on quality of life, and many will die way before their time.    And a gas generator is great for working in building houses, construction, welding, etc.,  but you just may now have the gasoline to operate it when you most need it !   And for people like me who use a CPAP machine to breath properly at night....  while sleeping,  not having power/ electricity could very well mean death.    Well,  if I die,  I have the real hope of Heaven and seeing my Lord, Jesus Christ.   But who is going to feed my 2--cats?


OK,  my pizza has just been delivered and paid for, so I ought to eat some of it before it gets cold.

The U.S. power grid, as it exists today, is dying a slow and miserable death. Experts in the private and public sector are also concerned about the weakness of the grid and suggest we are one major catastrophic event away from a complete meltdown in America.

Historical Cases

The largest blackout that occurred in U.S. history was on August 14, 2003, leaving over 50 million people without power in the Northeast, Midwest and parts of Canada. The blackout’s primary cause was a software bug in the alarm system at a control room of the FirstEnergy Corporation in Ohio. Operators were unaware of the need to re-distribute power after overloaded transmission lines hit unpruned foliage. What would have been a manageable local blackout cascaded into widespread distress on the electric grid.
In 2012, the San Diego Gas & Electric Company shut down, affecting power in Southern California and Arizona. The blackout affected 1.4 million homes and 5 to 6 million people. Flights out of San Diego International Airport were suspended. There were people trapped in elevators, cell phones and land lines went dead making it impossible to call for help. Moreover, gas stations were shut down.
Most recently, the Polar Vortex is threatening rolling blackouts as well due to the heightened demand from utility companies. Operators of the electric grid have urged consumers to conserve power to help overcome a potentially devastating combination of record demand and unexpected supply disruptions, both caused by the extreme cold enveloping much of the country. If voluntary conservation is not followed, then rolling blackouts will occur.

This outdated and aged infrastructure has been in need of a major update for decades; however, instead of investing in a new, more efficient power grid that utilizes renewable power sources (such as solar and wind), regulators instead chose to patch it up to make it work for the time being. This “duct taped” approach is no match for the constant power stream needed to keep population dense areas functioning or for the extreme weather we have experienced over the last decade.

Our grid is long overdue for investment and upgrades. Begun in the early 1900’s when the power system consisted of large, isolated power plants, our current grid is ill-equipped to serve smaller, innovative solar or wind facilities. The majority of the existing system was built more than 30 years ago and has only received incremental investment since. Today, 70 percent of the lines and large power transformers are more than 25 years old, and we don’t have enough of them in areas of the country with the best new energy resources. (Source)

There is No Official U.S. Power Grid
To begin, our grid is really three interconnected grids: the eastern, western and Texas interconnection, that are each independently owned and operated by different power plants and transmission lines. This privatization can only lead to further issues down the line. In this article, the author writes, “Similarly, while many countries have privatized the distribution sector and introduced some competition between retailers, retail tariffs and other matters such as safety, reliability and customer service have remained under regulatory oversight specific to the electricity industry. How Rolling Blackouts Affect Us

A “rolling blackout” typically occurs due to a weather-related event. However, there are other issues at play that can cause these blackouts to occur. Faulty software, and manmade disasters (i.e., cyber attacks, EMPs) can also cause the grid to go down for a given period of time, as seen in 2003’s grid debacle. This puts stress of the other electrical grids who then compensate for the loss of energy to that existing grid. When these events take place, there is an overwhelming increase of power in homes and commerce to either generate heat, air conditioning or electricity. When this need overwhelms the grid, the utility company intentionally “shuts off the power to an area in order to reduce the load on an electricity generation and grid. The utility company turns it back on, and then shuts the power off in a different area, with outages in any given area typically lasting 60 to 90 minutes, according to the California Energy Commission. This is a last resort measure of utility companies to avoid an even worse situation — a total power blackout.
Rolling blackouts go beyond sitting in the dark at home waiting for the power to come back on. They affect our commerce, our transportation systems and our overall infrastructure. Electric equipment such as automated teller machines (ATMs), credit card processing units and elevators may not work during the power outage. Traffic signals will be down thus causing traffic delays.

What About Renewable Energy?

Although renewable energy such as solar and wind play a part in adding to the grid, the U.S. grid is so old and outdated it can’t handle the influx of wind power and other intermittent renewable resources.

There is an even more pressing problem, according to this article in the New York Times: the grid isn’t big enough. The wind tends to blow strongest in places, such as North and South Dakota, that are far from where people live and use electricity. And no one wants to spend the millions of dollars it would take to put in a new transmission line (not to mention the legal headache of getting all those rights of way). (Source)

Prepare for the Problem

As long as the power grid remains in its current state, we must open our eyes to the reality that rolling blackouts will continue to be a regular part of dealing with disasters. Like all disaster preparedness, there are ways to insulate yourself and prepare your homes and family for the reality of this inconvenient truth.

1. Follow energy conservation measures to keep the use of electricity as low as possible, which can help power companies avoid imposing rolling blackouts.
2. Look into alternative power sources to supply your home with power.
3. Have ways to prepare food off the grid.
4. Keep your car tank at least half full because gas stations rely on electricity to power their pumps.
5. Be aware that most medication that requires refrigeration can be kept in a closed refrigerator for several hours without a problem. If unsure, check with your physician or pharmacist.
6. Know where the manual release lever of your electric garage door opener is located and how to operate it. Garage doors can be heavy, so know that you may need help to lift it.
7. Keep a key to your house with you if you regularly use the garage as the primary means of entering your home, in case the garage door will not open.
8. Have money on hand in case stores are not processing credit cards.

Further, take steps to prepare your home and yourself for different events that may cause rolling blackouts.

In the Home

• Learn out to protect your food supply when the power is out. To be proactive, begin using perishable foods in the freezer and refrigerator to minimize food spoilage. Also, to keep items as cool as possible during rolling black, limit the amount of times the refrigerator or freezer door is opened. If you are concerned that the meat may spoil, preserve it beforehand, by either the canning method or the dehydration method.
• Freeze soda bottles filled with water and when the rolling blackouts occur, place the frozen soda bottles in the refrigerator to maintain the optimum temperature.
• Stay indoors and try and keep your body temperature as normal as possible.
• Close window blinds and curtains to keep the heat out.
• Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to keep your food as fresh as possible.
• Turn off or disconnect appliances, equipment (like air conditioners) or electronics in use when the power went out. Power may return with momentary “surges” or “spikes” that can damage computers as well as motors in appliances like the air conditioner, refrigerator, washer or furnace.
• Do not connect a generator to a home’s electrical system. If you use a generator, connect the equipment you want to run directly to the outlets on the generator. Do not run a generator inside a home or garage.
• Leave on one light so that you’ll know when your power returns.
• Use the phone for emergencies only. Listen to a portable radio for the latest information.

Maintain Your Core Body Temperature

• Take steps to remain cool if it is hot outside. Click here for tips on how to stay cool during rolling blackouts. If the power is off for long periods of time, consider getting out of the house. Go to a movie theater, shopping mall or “cooling shelter” that may be open in your community. If you remain at home, move to the lowest level of your home, since cool air falls. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.
• Put on layers of warm clothing if it is cold outside. Never burn charcoal for heating or cooking indoors. Never use your oven as a source of heat. If the power may be out for a prolonged period, plan to go to another location (the home of a relative or friend, or a public facility) that has heat to keep warm.
• Provide plenty of fresh, cool water for your pets.
• Eliminate unnecessary travel, especially by car. Traffic signals will stop working during an outage, creating traffic congestion.

The grid’s aging infrastructure, combined with a rise in domestic electricity consumption and extreme weather issues has forced experts to critically examine the status and health of the nation’s electrical systems. Rolling blackouts will no longer be a phenomenon, but a regular occurrence. Thus taking us into third world country living conditions. Welcome to the new America.

Hi  Friends and Readers,
     It is not my intention to scare or frighten people, nor do I wear a tin foil hat, nor am I "Chicken Little," -- and the sky is falling, kind of guy....Ha!   My sole concern is HELPING my fellow Patriots, Disabled Brother Combat Veterans, and good people, educate themselves....  just in case the SHTF, and to "Prep" the body, mind, and SOUL, for the future things and times that WILL come visit us all, some day.    As you all know,  I happily voted for Mr. Trump, and I hope that he lives for a long time, and turns this Country, the USA, around.   But the many evil dark forces are so entrenched, active, and full of pure evil and hate !   So,  there is nothing wrong about prepping, protecting, and learning at least the basics,  dear friends.  
       I even learned some great Info from this longer article and wise considerations !  
       But I am dumb stricken from reading one thing on-line,  but the TV 'News' doesn't even report it,  like 3 major cities that lost power a day or 2 ago !   And today, the gas station pumps would not take my Credit Card, so I had to walk inside to pay cash for my gasoline.     Just another pain in my back side..... LOL.

Warning: Preppers Don’t Buy A Firearm for Self-Defense Until you Read This…

This article is going to buy me a lot of hate. I know that delving into this topic is controversial and some of my recommendations will go against the established dogma. I will not only make a recommendation, but give you my reasoning behind it. Perhaps I can save some reader a lot of money, hassle and disappointment. Before you continue reading, I want you to make a decision. I want you to visualize yourself killing another human being. Now visualize a loved one bleeding to death in your arms.
Make a choice which one would you prefer. The purpose of a firearm is to kill another being. Yes, I know, you are supposed to say that you are only trying to stop a threat. I know of no better way to stop a threat than to kill it. If you cannot make that decision now, in relative safety, you will not be able to make that decision in an emergency. The most important decision you must make when using a firearm to defend your life is to pull the trigger.
First, why buy a firearm? You are probably considering purchasing your first firearm for the same reason most of us have firearms, personal protection. But personal protection is too broad a term. Let’s narrow this down a bit. Ask yourself, who or what do you need protection from? Who are you trying to protect? Where will you be when you need to use deadly force? These questions, which seem a logical starting point, are seldom asked before choosing a weapon. But, weapons are tools, and tools fit specific needs, so we need to define your specific needs before we can choose the tool.
Will the primary location you will need protection be at home or a place of business? Or perhaps during your commute? Or all of the above? If at home, will you be able to barricade yourself and not move or do you have little ones you need to go get in the middle of the night? If at work, do you stay stationary behind a counter or desk or do you roam your place of business? Are you even allowed to carry a firearm to defend yourself at your job?
You need to create a scenario and play thru all these questions before you decide what firearm to purchase. Do not make the mistake of taking the advice of any “expert”, me included, before you work thru your specific needs.
Now that you have created a scenario and determined the most likely threats, let me give you an example of a typical situation. You live is a fairly safe neighborhood but are concerned with a break in. You have a couple of little ones and their bedrooms are across the house or some distance from the master bedroom. You commute to work on what you consider safe streets and are not allowed to possess a firearm at work. Still, the possibility exists of work place violence and you do not want to become a victim. With this scenario in mind, here are some sensible options. I recommend you purchase them in this order.
First, you would purchase a handgun. I know, I know, most “experts”, including our former VP recommend a shotgun. The shotgun, a wonderful weapon we will get back to, is the wrong tool for your scenario. You need a weapon that you can take with you, down the hall, and open doors, grab kids and return to your bedroom or safe space with. You cannot, without extensive training, employ a shotgun in this scenario. Don’t believe me. Grab a baseball bat and carry it as you would a shotgun. Move from your bedroom to your kid’s rooms. Now open the door, grab a sleeping child and carry him/her back to your bedroom while keeping the “shotgun” oriented towards a potential avenue of approach. Not easy, is it? Now think of trying to do this when first waking up to a breaking window or door with a squirming toddler in tow. Next try it holding a handgun proxy, a banana will do. See the difference? A handgun is better tool for offensive (meaning moving towards a threat) operations than a shotgun. Now think of a carjacking scenario. Take said baseball bat and hide it in your car. Can you access the shotgun from the driver’s seat? Can you carry the “shotgun” from your home to your car every morning along your briefcase, coffee cup, laptop bag and whatever else you carry?
What handgun should you buy? A semi-automatic pistol. I am a fan of Glocks and carry one daily but, you may find another handgun that best fits your hands. Forget revolvers. Yes, a revolver requires less muscle memory to operate than a pistol. But a revolver will give you 6 rounds before needing to be fed again. You are not likely to be carrying extra rounds when you carry your revolver and it takes forever to reload a revolver during a high stress situation. A Glock gives you 17 rounds before needing a reload. It is better to have 17 rounds than 6. But revolvers are dependable you heard said. Sure, so are modern semi-automatics. My Glock goes bang every time I pull the trigger.
Next, let’s talk caliber. Understand that there is no such thing as “stopping power”. A .45 will not blow a hole the size of a watermelon on a human torso or remove extremities. You will probably not stop a threat with a single round. You stop a threat by causing shock and blood loss. Shock is caused by hitting the central nervous system (CNS) and blood loss is caused by the number and size of holes you put on your target and what veins, arteries and internal organs you puncture. A CNS hit requires you hit the spine or brain. You will not, unless you are very lucky or extremely well trained, hit the CNS. What you need is to put as many holes as you can in the torso area to cause as much blood loss as possible as fast as possible. The difference in diameter between a modern 9mm and .45 caliber, and everything in between, is negligible for practical purposes. Yes, I know I am killing sacred cows here but, a modern 9mm jacketed hollow point (JHP), 124 grain Speer gold dot, expands to .62 inches while a 230 grain .45 caliber from the same manufacturer expands to .74 inches. So, a bit over 1/2 an inch hole vs. a bit under ¾ of an inch hole. Big difference, right? Not really when you consider that your intention is to create as much blood loss as possible and the holes are very similar. Much more critical factors are, how well does it fit your hand, how well can you control the firearm while using it, how many rounds before reload and how much will it cost you to train with it.
The best way to know how well a firearm will fit your hand is to hold one. Go to your local gun shop and ask. Believe me, they will be happy to let you handle as many handguns as you wish. Handle the handguns. Try to operate the controls, operate the safety and magazine release. See what fits your hand. Pick a handgun that fits, between 9mm and .45 caliber. Second, consider handling.
Find a range where they rent firearms or a friend that will let you try different calibers. Shoot your preferred firearm and see if it fits you. Only you can decide. Next, consider cost.
A 9mm JHP round costs about 66 cents as of this writing. A .45 caliber round, from the same manufacturer, runs about 98 cents. Significant difference if you plan to train regularly. A 9mm full metal jacket (FMJ) round, what you will normally use for training, runs about 27 cents while a similar .45 from the same manufacturer runs about 48 cents a round. So, you will spend about twice as much to train with a .45 than to train with a 9mm. Things to consider.
Now that you picked your handgun, what next?
Accessories
First, before you even leave the gun shop, buy a holster. A quality holster is a safety device. It covers the trigger while the handgun is not in use preventing negligent discharges. A holster will also allow you to secure your weapon on your body while dealing with events that require both hands such as providing first aid or removing obstacles. Which holster? Start with a Kydex outside the waist band holster. There are many manufacturers, prices and styles but a Kydex holster will secure your weapon, protect it and is easier to re-holster on a Kydex holster vs leather.
Next, I would highly recommend you purchase a gun mounted light. You need to be able to identify your target before you pull the trigger. Firing at a shadow or a silhouette illuminated by ambient light is a recipe for disaster. Get a light. There are many quality choices out there, you just want one that will attach to your weapon and provide both momentary and constant light. You will also do well to pick one that uses standard batteries (AA or AAA) and not some $15 a battery light that requires a special order to get a replacement. A decent light should provide over 100 lumens and cost around $50 retail.
Continuing with accessories, here is one not many people consider, body armor. Bad guys, unlike paper targets, shoot back. You need body armor to survive incoming fire. With the low prices and easy availability today, there is no reason not to buy body armor. Body armor comes in both soft ballistic armor and rigid plates. Both have their place in your bag of tricks but, you will get the best overall protection from rigid plates rated to at least IIIA. In this category you will find two basic options, steel and ceramics. Steel is cheaper, more durable against multiple impacts and weather variances and thinner than ceramics. But, steel is heavier. For at home wear, steel is a better choice. For professional day to day wear, such as security, ceramics are better.
Soft ballistic armor, on the other hand, is much more comfortable, lighter and thinner than rigid plates. Soft ballistic armor is more expensive and, should you get shot, will stop the projectile from penetrating your torso but will do nothing about the impact force from the projectile. In other words, you will get hurt but will not be killed. The photo on the right is a laparoscopy of a police officer’s chest cavity after being shot while wearing soft body armor. The officer recovered but, you can see that the projectile did cause damage to muscle tissue and broke a rib.  Rigid armor does not flex so the impact is better distributed thru your torso reducing the overall impact trauma. I wear steel armor from AR500. Very well priced and excellent protection. No, I don’t work or receive compensation from them, I just like their products.
And on the subject of surviving a firefight, the next accessory is an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK). The IFAK was developed based on combat experience in Afghanistan and Iraq. Your IFAK should be a pouch attached to your ballistic armor or in an easily accessible location. At a minimum, your IFAK should contain:

• A tourniquet. There are two available commercially that are worth having, the Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT-T) and the SOF-T. They are both under $50 each and are the premier combat tourniquets. As a minimum go on YouTube and learn how to use them.
• A Sharpie pen. Used to mark the patient with the time the tourniquet was applied and any other treatment or injuries you want the EMS to find.
• Clotting gauze. Ideally Celox or QuickClot brand. Clotting gauze contains chemicals that will force clotting and stop medium bleeds.

• A nasopharyngeal airway. This is a rubber tube that is inserted into a nostril to keep an open airway in case of face trauma. Buy the kit with the lubricant.

• ARS Needle Decompression Kit. This needle is to resolve a case of tension pneumothorax or collapsed lung. You need to get training in using this needle but it is a critical lifesaving tool.

• Chest seal. This is for sucking chest wounds. In case of an upper torso bullet hole it will become very difficult for the patient to breath. A chest seal is a piece of plastic that is placed over the bullet wound and it burps air pockets in the chest cavity while providing a seal to permit an inhale.

Last on the accessory list is hearing protection, as a minimum or a suppressor as ideal. If you have never fired a weapon indoors without hearing protection, don’t. It is much louder than you would think. Although under stress you will not hear the shot as badly, it is still deafening and you need your hearing in a combat scenario. Purchase an electronic noise cancelling headset designed for shooting. This way you can still hear before and after the shot. Foam ear plugs will not work, you need electronic muffs. The problem is that this only provides protection for your hearing. What about the little ones? Getting ripped out of bed is bad enough but, once you open fire, it will become traumatic. Imagine trying to fight with a squirming toddler in your hands. That is why I recommend a sound suppressor. Contrary to popular belief sound suppressors are legal in the US. That may not be true in your State, check the local laws. A sound suppressor will not only protect your hearing but your loved one’s as well. These days a good sound suppressor could run you under $400 plus the $200 tax stamp. There are much more expensive suppressors but you don’t need a titanium suppressor rated for full auto fire. A $400 aluminum suppressor works just fine for your needs.
Training
Find a trainer that will teach beyond your basic concealed carry license trainer. Yes, you need to know the legalities behind using your handgun but, you really need to go beyond basic range training. You need situational training. Not just how to fire your weapon and hit targets but how to fight with your weapon. There are many quality trainers in the US. A place like Gunsight Academy or Suarez International will be well worth the expense. Call or write the different training sites. Find out what each class teaches and how many instructors per student. Ask about instructor’s experience in real life situations. You will spend about $500 to $1500 per class and it is worth every penny. The amount of money you save on ammo later by focusing your training vs just shooting steel will make up the cost of the class. This class by no means ends your training. You must continue training on a regular basis. Expect to spend 4-5 hours a month minimum training. Of course, this training is not all range training. You will need to dry fire rehearse scenarios and responses. As an example; start from your bed with a cleared weapon and go thru all the steps needed to secure against different intrusions. Ask yourself, what if? Front door or side door? Window? Then rehearse to those scenarios. Include your family in the rehearsals so they know what is happening and how to respond. Purchase snap caps (inert rounds designed for training) and go thru loading, moving, firing and reloading. You should spend tenfold the time on dry firing than live firing. Live firing is needed for target engagement but dry firing rehearsals are about fighting with your gun.
Take a combat first aid class. You need to learn how to keep someone alive while the paramedics are on their way. A single day class that deals with combat trauma injuries should be sufficient. Do not waste your money on the local Red Cross class. Yes, they are wonderful skills to know if someone chokes on a chicken bone or falls down the stairs but, you are looking for battle field trauma training. Different skill set.
Shotguns
So, what about the shotgun? Ah yes, the shotgun. The shotgun is a defensive weapon. It is the weapon you hold while barricaded behind strong cover and aim towards the door. It is the weapon you get back to after you secure your little ones. If you live in a state where you cannot take a firearm with you (recommend you move) and you have no reason why leave your bedroom, a shotgun should be your first weapon.
With a shotgun, all of the above recommendations apply with a few changes. First, to dispel some myths. No, racking a shotgun will not stop a bad guy. Your shotgun should be loaded with an empty chamber while at home. As soon as you secure your shotgun rake the slide and proceed to your covered position. This covered position should give you line of sight to the door but not be directly in front of the door. Once you arrive to your covered position, aim your shotgun waist high at the locked door and take it off safe. Yes, a shotgun needs to be aimed. In general, a shotgun spreads pellets about an inch per foot. If it is 15 feet to your door, the shot pattern will be a bit larger than a dinner plate. You have to aim. Then dial 911 and wait. It is not your job to go hunting for the bad guy. Let someone else catch those bullets.
What shotgun should you buy? I prefer a Mossberg with the safety on top, easier to take off and return to safe. Something like a Mossberg 930 SPX or the Mossberg SA-20 tactical. You want a full stock. No macho pistol grips, they are terrible to fire. You need a side saddle ammo holder. This provides you with extra rounds for a fast reload. You want a light. Same as with the pistol. And you need a sling to shoulder your weapon in case you need to move with your little ones or provide first aid. Like with the pistol, you will need to go to a gun shop and to the range. Although the basic recommendation is usually the 12 gauge, it may not be right for you. Persons with smaller frames may need to go with a 20 gauge youth model.
Let’s talk about ammunition. On a 12 gauge a #00 buck shell will fire 9 .33 caliber (a bit smaller than the 9mm) pellets from a standard-length shell. 00 buck or #1 buck are both acceptable defensive loads. Do not go for reduced recoil loads outside of training. You want full penetration of your target. While 3 inch shells increase power and recoil without adding any more holes to your target. Stick to 2 ¾ inch shells.
Scenario
You wake up to banging on your front door. You don’t know who is banging but it sounds violent. You and your wife don body armor (you did buy one for her, right?) and you grab your gun, turn on the gun light and proceed down the hallway, with your wife holding on to your body armor with one hand. You arrive at your little one’s room, walk past the door while still covering the possible avenue of approach and your wife grabs the sleeping ones. Once she is pass you she makes physical contact with you and tells you “clear”. You place your strong shoulder against the wall and back up, following your wife, to the reinforced corner in your bedroom, locking the door behind you, that you have selected to defend from. You holster your handgun, grab your shotgun, lock a round in the chamber, take it off safe and aim waist high towards the door. In the meantime, your wife grabs the pre-printed cue card and cell phone, dials 911 and reads the pre-scripted report to the 911 dispatcher. This pre-printed cue card may say something like this:
“My name is _________, I am at 123 willow drive, some town, some state. My call back number is 555-123-4567. Someone is trying to break into my home. I am in the NW bedroom upstairs, behind a locked door with my husband and our two children. We are armed but barricaded in the bedroom. Please send assistance.”

     I didn't hear any of this News about Black Outs, until I read it here !   What a bite in the rear !    But at the same time,  I am not surprised one bit,  now days.   And God help us if our Islamic enemies ever attack us with Nukes or EMP weapons ! !   But...... probably HALF the people in our country think and say that ABORTION, is OK !  The KJV Bible calls it MURDER !   And God WILL punish whole countries who commit these horrible sins,  along with human trafficking,  and the illegal street drug trade, etc.   Our Father will also lay waste to all the heathen and pagan nations, who butcher our Christian brothers and sister world wide !    The Bible says that is a 'done deal'  and soon to come.    Beware.   Seek the Lord, Jesus Christ, now,  while He may still be found.    Remember:   After the Rapture,  the Holy Spirit will be with drawn from the Earth.   Period.  


Now,  Friends,  I was born in the city of Milwaukee,  Wisconsin, but later raised on a beef, hog, and grain, farm, and loved it there.  The hard work only made my shoulders big and strong.   I loved to play foot ball in high school, and had some good friends, and started playing in a musical band... guitar.   And the reason I told you this back ground,  was because out in the country we could just 'take a leak' -- as men behind any tree or bush,   but just think of people in a huge, crowded city living in a high rise, tall, apartment complex.    If the power grid shuts down,  the water also shuts down, and so where are all those city people going to relieve themselves ??    Things could get messy and smelly way up high, etc.   And of course the city crime, rapes, and violence would really flare up, especially at night in the dark.    What would all the goofy,  anti-gun,  Liberals do then ....   Duh ?  
      I went to WalMart today, just to pick up a few things that I needed and bought my first disposable tooth brushes, today !   I plan to try one, tonight.    But the old fashion,  regular toothbrushes are so handy for cleaning many things, and would also be prime barter products to have after the SHTF scenario.   Got to take good care of our teeth !   And also tooth paste, for that matter.
       I remember camping out with my family, my kids, and we always had such a great, but safe, time,  except we always got ate up by the hungry mosquitos !   We usually all traveled in a "Caravan" with at least 5 other, nice, families, with Bible values, and interests, so we sure did have some great fun and relaxation,  and it was funny how we could always pick out the city slickers vs:  the Combat Veterans and farmer back ground folks.   The Vets always had their act together... lol.   But,  somehow, now matter how well we made a written list of things to bring, we always forgot SOME THING !   If we were lucky we could borrow it from the other campers.   But I loved to grill some sirloin steak  and eggs for breakfast, and show off.   Then we could also drink beer mixed with V-8 vegetable juice, so no one would be the wiser.   I figured that we all worked very hard, so why should we skimp on our vacation time.    My Dad told me the same thing.   And working for AMC/  Chrysler, after a number of years, we would get our vacation pay for maybe 5 weeks,  but we only have 4 weeks of vacation time.   But we all started at the bottom, with only one week of vacation.   Got to start some where.
    The work at the auto plant in Kenosha, WI., was very hard,  but with accumulated seniority,  you could bid on a better job as time went on, and at one time, I held the MOST seniority in my department.... and that felt good inside.   Yes,  I thought at some  low points in my life that I would die, early, and NEVER retire,  but I did finally get my 30.5 years in and didn't even know it !  
      So,  I guess I was dumb/ stupid enough to allow a few women to take advantage of me and rip off some of my money,  but  God has still blessed me so far, and I intend to enjoy my life, if I can.    In my mind.... I think I have figured out why God has permitted me to continue to live,  and I think that's is because He still "USES ME" as a "tool" to help share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and teach people the KJV Bible, and how to claim true Salvation thru the blood of Jesus' ransom  sacrifice on the cross about 2000 years ago.   I also hope to use these last days/ time,  to continue to allow the Holy Spirit to clean up my act, my life, to work harder on my personality flaws, etc.


We wager or guess that most Christians in the world are just average, smart, Bible loving, people.  Sure, some are rich,  but probably most are just average, or poor.   Yet,  our Father in heaven provides for all of us, one way or another.   The Bible tells us not to be lazy or depend on Welfare, or Food Stamps, if we are able to work to support ourselves.     And for those of us who are truly disabled,  it is only right that we receive benefits from the Gov't.   I worked hard ALL MY LIFE, and am now injured in a few places, and walk with a cane.   Do you think I like it this way ???   No !   I have quite a bit of steel, etc., in my knees, and Left lower shank and ankle, and it hurts me to walk, every day of my life.   But God has provided for me, and I am also a generous man.   I am still a Soldier of Christ.   And I just LOVE to teach others some of my many skills and talents.  


I am very thankful for all of my close friends, but they mostly live in different States of America,  but at least we can email and call on the cell phone.   I am happy that my beautiful sister, Linda, also calls me when she visits our Mom, who is still at Rehab, after she broke her hip about 3 weeks ago,  so I get to talk to both of them.   Praise the Lord.

Hello  Friends,
    Speaking of the truth,  it looks like nothing big has happened in the world like I guessed it would,  so there goes my credibility....   but on the other hand,  I am damn glad that nothing negative did happen !!   We shall see.   All I know is that Precious Metals keep going up in price,  and the prices of food and now gasoline are going up too.    So,  go figure.  
        I had to visit the local VAMC this morning to get a re-dressing of my old motorcycle wound that opened up again.  And the good male RN,  Steve G., told me that they were using a sheep "Placenta"  worth about $1500., placed on my open wound to help it heal !   So....   those people up North at the I.M. VAMC, do take care of me, most of the time, and I am thankful for the small and gentle mercies of God, and man.   
     It's a windy, but very sunny, cool day, but the grass is getting green again !    It's like a Paradise in the Upper Peninsula of Northern Michigan, USA,  in the warmer 3 months of the year,  but the Winter can be brutally COLD !     It still much better than living in the big cities, filled with crime, violence and drugs.   The laid back folks up here are mostly poor,  but they don't care.   They THINK that they can mostly live on Venison, a very tasty dish, but they had all better plant their gardens soon.   I used to hunt deer, too,  but only for meat, and my family just loved that gamy, tasty meat in a great stew, etc., with lots of fresh sweet onions, carrots, potatoes, etc.     Right now I am having a German beer mixed with V-8 Vegetable  juice... cold,  plus some healthy Herbs to heal me.  


Well,  it's no wonder that many people in the USA are stressed out a bit, when another nuclear country is threatening us, and they have 70 submarines that could sneak up to our shores.   And for the past 8 years,  Obama -oink, the Muslim, has been seriously tearing down and reducing our military !!   Of course he gave all the "saved money" to our enemies who hate and launch rockets on Israel, also kill our own troops in the Middle East, etc.    The last time I heard, he was hiding somewhere near a Pacific Island in his Yacht.   I am sure that he has millions $$$$ to bribe other counties to take him in, so he can hide and abide.    Maybe he's got a better looking lady, now.....   Ahhhh, just kidding/ joking.   Beauty doesn't mean a dang thing anymore,  when the heart and mind is so corrupt and greedy. 


I am feeling full from a great breakfast, satisfied, with a few nice friends, and a good relationship with my Lord.   If it were about 70 degrees, I would be outside with my shirt off, getting some much needed sun on my skin,  which always heals my skin and spirits !

The world held its breath on Saturday, April 15, when North Korea celebrated "The Day of the Sun." That was the 105th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il-Sung. He was the founder of the repressive communist regime that we know as North Korea.

He was also the grandfather of its current loony-in-charge, Kim Jong-un.

There was reasonable speculation that Kim would test a nuclear device on that day to demonstrate to the world his defiance and North Korea's menacing prowess.

There was also reasonable speculation that the United States might respond militarily. After all, the U.S. had just dropped a MOAB -- the "Mother of All Bombs" -- on the tunnels and caves of the Taliban and ISIS in Afghanistan.

We also know that North Korea conducts its nuclear weapons program from tunnels and caves near its coast. Was the recent use of MOAB just a coincidence? Or was President Trump sending Kim Jong-un a warning?

In the end, Kim opted for testing a missile instead. He probably regrets that now. The missile launch failed after just four seconds.

Of course, the U.S. isn't the only nation in the world where the media manipulates the news. Footage of the launch failure was withheld and I'm sure the population of North Korea continues to think the test was a brilliant success.

But Kim's failure isn't much reason for celebration. In fact, I wonder if the humiliation might spur him to make up for it and try something else to shake up the world.

The BBC reports that North Korea has "a fleet of about 70 submarines." We know Kim has, at least, some crude nuclear devices that could conceivably be delivered via submarine to the coasts of various nations around the world.

So until the question of North Korea is resolved, the world will rightfully continue to be a bit on edge over Kim and his toy chest of missiles and nukes.

But there may be a little progress on that front. After Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent visit with President Trump in Florida, China seems to be more willing to use its relationship with North Korea to tackle the issue. Or, at least, put a lid on it.

Only time will tell, though.

Speaking of unresolved issues. Syria continues to top that list.

Following a brutal chemical attack on the rebel stronghold of Khan Shaykhun that left scores dead, including dozens of children, President Trump ordered an attack on the Syrian airbase from which the attack was purportedly launched.

In the span of one minute, 59 Tomahawk missiles rained down on the airfield in western Syria. Mostly aircraft and  support facilities were destroyed, but the attack sent a shocking message to the world: the rules of engagement have changed.

The following week, the United States dropped its largest non-nuclear bomb on a series of tunnels and caves in eastern Afghanistan. In the raid, many tunnels were destroyed and almost 100 ISIS fighters were killed. No civilians died.

The world in general seemed appreciative. However, quite a number of American celebrities and leftists were mortified. No surprise.

Many of them accused the President of using a Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Afghanistan. And that's generally considered to be a war crime.

Clearly, though, the MOAB -- as impressive and destructive as it is -- does not qualify as a WMD. Far from it! However, it is undeniably effective, both as a weapon of war and as a warning to other criminal forces who attempt to hide their activities beneath the earth, i.e., North Korea and, perhaps, Iran.

One thing is certain, though. The American actions in the last few weeks have put the world on notice that things have changed. It appears that America is back as a stabilizing fWatchman Warning" on www.hallindsey.com orce in the world.

In my "last week, I wrote, "The world staggers like a drunk on the edge of a cliff." It desperately needs a strong -- and moral -- America for stability. But, even more than that, it needs God's help and intervention as never before.

So does America. The Washington Post reports that because Seattle is experiencing an epidemic of drug overdoses, it is creating "safe sites for addicts to inject illegal drugs."

Remember the drug craze of the late 60s? In 1968, we were horrified that 5,000 Americans died of drug overdoses.

In 2015, 52,000 Americans died of drug overdoses. No media outcry. Only yawns and sexual harassment lawsuits.

The Bible expressly predicts that one of the distinct signs of the end times will be a dramatic increase in drug use and our dependence on drugs.

In 2011, the Global Commission on Drug Policy declared that the famous "war on drugs" had failed. Today, there are popular television series in which the hero or heroes model drug dependency for their young viewers.

Accepting drug abuse means thousands of young people will die every year who need not have died. It also means the destruction of families and will ultimately lead to the death of our stable society.

Finally, I want to take a last look at the Resurrection this week.

One Easter Sunday I remember looking around the sanctuary where we celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I thought, "If this day did not happen, then we are nothing but a room full of fools. For we are following a liar. Or a lunatic."

The Resurrection of Jesus from the dead is a central tenet of the Christian faith. Remove it and there's little left.

That's because the veracity of everything else Jesus said and taught depends upon His declaration that He would rise from the dead. If He lied about that, how can we trust anything else He said?

Without the truth of the Resurrection, you can't even call Jesus a wonderful teacher or a great man.

People who cannot accept His claim of deity often say they still regard Jesus as a great philosopher and humanist; a dedicated teacher of truth. But that isn't even a credible option!

If a man claims to be God and isn't... if he offers to forgive sin and can't... if his claim to be the promised Messiah is false... then he is not a great teacher of truth. Jesus was either a liar and a charlatan, a pitiful, deluded fool, or He was who He claimed to be: the long-awaited Messiah-King of Israel.

Thank God that the record of historical evidence -- and the weight of fulfilled prophecy -- show why no other figure in all of human history has ever, or could ever, qualify to be the promised Messiah of God. Only Jesus of Nazareth.

     I need help here.   Is it really true that BHO --- that Baboon,  is really running and hiding as a fugitive of Justice from the USA ? ? ?   Wow !   That is just too good to be true !!   Our former, fearless leader, hiding in a boat some where far across the ocean !  
       Now,   really folks,   if this is TRUE, I am going to celebrate for a whole week with oranges and champagne !   Or.... maybe baloney and beer.... LOL.

     But, honestly,  our so-called celebration will be short lived anyway,  because right about now,  America has so many HUGE battles coming up that will certainly take most of the 'wind out of our sales...'    I expect inflation to hit us hard,  with prices from everything going up,  gradually, at first, like coffee, tea, toilet tissue, gas, dog food, beef, etc.   And then rent, interest rates on Mortgages, college tuition, etc.    I know I am dreaming,  but wouldn't it be super nice if we had the "Old Law Covenant", like ancient Israel  ?!?   Think:   Every 50th year was called the "Jubilee Year"  --- where all slaves would be given back their FREEDOM, and all original lands and territories were given back to their original owners, with all debts forgiven and wiped clean !!   So you see / understand that Father God never allowed "perpetual poverty" in that great land !    But,  all the other parts of the 300 Law Covenant would also be in full force.   And you can easily read all this for yourselves, starting at:   Exodus 20: 1.    And so you now see that there were much more to the Old Israelites' lives than just the "Ten Commandments."    Now,  it was a PERFECT Law,   given to an imperfect people,  so they could never measure up to it.   It was given to show God's chosen  people how imperfect they were,  and only another perfect,  "Adam" could replace their relationship with God Almighty.... namely God's only begotten Son,  Jesus Christ.... the 2nd "Adam."   You know what dear friends.... the more you learn,  but better it gets.   John 3:16,   "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,  that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."   Many grade school children have memorized scriptures like this.   And if they stray away from the truth of the Bible -- at least it's still in their heads,  so that they can return to the true teachings of Christ.   And so,  Verse 36, says,   "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:   and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;   but the wrath of God abideth on him."  
       Now,  if some of these words look strange to you,  I personally know of a GREAT tool,  the  fine,   DEFINED KJV Bible,  that explains what these 'Old English, Shakespearean type words really mean !!   Just visit this fine web site, please:    biblefortoday.org       --- and you will never be left in the dark again.   It is a great "KEY" to understanding the more PURE, FINE, PRISTINE, ACCUARATE Bible in the world !!   Most 'modern day versions of the bible' have been tampered with, including the JW-cult's New World Translation...  from the Jehovah's Witnesses,  sorry to say.    I, personally spent too many years --totally wasted years--  trapped in that false religious sect, right after I came home from Vietnam in 1970, as I was searching for something to patch up my broken heart and bring me back to reality and civility, after 2 long years in combat !   Now,  they [The JW'S]  were right about a lot of things,  but wrong about the MOST IMPORTANT THING --- the Deity of Jesus Christ,  whom they say is the 'Arch Angel Michael' in heaven.   Sorry folks,  that, and many other teachings from their 'Wisdom Holes'  [their KINGDOM HALLS] are false teachings, and lead to hell.    And with most false cults,  a person will find ONE thing that is wrong, and they think to themselves,  OK,  it's only ONE thing.   But then they find another and another, until they have a whole big pile of false teachings !!   And when you love a group of people and their Organization for a long time,  it really hurts inside, that you have been betrayed !!   It's  like a  beloved uncle, who turns out  to be a child molester, and then many are hurt, forever, and you can never trust that person again,   and you all know I am right.    And any of their members who disagrees with the WatchTower Org.,  is disfellowshiped,  and cast away, so that no one may ever talk to them, or they will get the same, sad, treatment.   BTW,  they also have a huge suicide rate because of this --- and they don't believe in a true HELL, either,  so they just think that if they take their own lives,  they will just cease to exist !   So you can now understand how that mistaken mentality causes them to disregard any fear of the 'after life !'    It's a shame what they teach their people, and they believe that ONLY 144,000 people are going to heaven,  but the KJV Bible certainly doesn't teach that trash !   So,  they don't ever want their members using the KJV Bible, nor  any other, than their own messed up, truncated, version that supports their own messed up mindset/ beliefs.   And what I am posting here tonight is just the tip of the ice berg.....

BREAKING: New Evidence Released, Obama Is Panicking & Hiding On a Yacht

Former President Obama has retreated back to French Polynesia after briefly showing his face in Scotland to line his pockets.

The former president is panicking after a federal judge agreed to reopen the investigation into the IRS. Obama was able to illegally discriminate against conservative groups through Lois Lerner, the former director of the Exempt Organization Unit. (via WND)
The Obama administration received intense scrutiny after it was revealed that the IRS was intentionally discriminating against conservative groups which opposed the Obama administration.
IRS employees developed a “be on the lookout” list of conservative groups they would target.

The conservative groups, often associated with the Tea Party movement, were intentionally delayed or outright denied tax exempt status. Some groups are still waiting for approval, seven years later.
The IRS not only targeted conservative groups, but they also asked invasive and unnecessary questions. They asked applicants the contents of their prayers, and demanded that the groups promise to stop objecting to Planned Parenthood.

Now, a federal judge from Washington D.C. has agreed to make the record of the IRS public, allowing the conservative groups to finally get some answers as to why they were denied or delayed tax exempt status.

Lois Lerner was never brought to trial, and she refused to testify before congress.  She was allowed to retire with a cushy government pension paid for by our tax dollars. Lerner was doing the bidding of Obama and was offered his protection as a result.
However, after seven years without a serious investigation, Republican lawmakers are calling for President Trump’s Justice Department to bring formal charges against Lerner and reopen the investigation into the IRS. Obama still refuses to return to the United States.

Obama remains in French Polynesia, where he is safe from extradition back to the United States.
