To be perfectly honest, I sometimes have troubled separating the real Truth from fake 'News' once in a while. So, you might say that I bet on 'both teams,' LOL. Not. I am always putting all my Silver on God's side. But the Bible shows me some wiggle room in preparing for emergencies and eventualities in life, that common sense and schooling have taught me, what is "Probable." After all, FACT: If we all get into the habit of spending every single dollar of our pay after we get paid, we could never get ahead of the game of life ! And when a young farming couple save their money for a few years and decides to plunk their 'nest egg $$$' down on some good, rich, farm land and live stock, cows, pigs, chickens, etc., they are also "taking a chance !" But if a son never leaves his Mom's house but sleeps in the basement ---staying drunk most of the time, and gaining no trade or skill --- what will become of him ?? Christians are not supposed to do that stuff, anyway, but to try hard serving the Lord, Jesus Christ, all their years on earth ! And, methinks that most of the time, that prodigal son never had a real, Christian set of parents to teach him the right ways of the Bible.
From everything I've read and studied in the Good Book, other mature Christian men and ladies ought to try to teach such younger men and women the godly way to Salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, if at all possible.
As for me, I love to teach other, if I can, even with a disabled, old, fat body.... but right now I am somewhat limited. And every day is another gift of life, from Father God.
I thought that I was doing well last week when I scaled up at the local VAMC -- U.P. here, and lost a few pounds, but today I was saddened to see that I gained it all back. Back to the drawing board.
Now, it never hurts to save and store up some valuable things just in case a big flood/ emergency comes so fast that we just cannot fully prepare.... so here are some good pointers, protecting from EMP's, etc.

EMP Bags
One of the easiest ways to protect electronic equipment from the damaging effects of an EMP is to store them in RF-shielded bags. The challenge becomes picking out bags that provide the highest level of shielding. Most bags sold on the internet have never even been tested for shielding effectiveness. Don’t be fooled by people testing with stun guns – that’s just for show and completely irrelevant to EMP protection.
With a PhD in electrical engineering, I was fortunate enough to have the equipment to test numerous brands of bags for their shielding effectiveness. The Dri-Shield 3400 series bags were shown to be superior to all others, providing approximately 50 dB of shielding across all relevant EMP frequencies (100 kHz to 1 GHz). That means they will reduce the electric field by at least 99.7%, reducing even a worst-case 50,000 V/m down to 158 V/m – a level that most electronics would survive.
A few questions that I am often asked:
1. Is one layer really enough? The short answer is YES. A good EMP bag can reduce the fields by 99.7% or more. That’s enough for protect nearly any electronic item. This may not be true with other bags, so if they’re suggesting multiple layers, the company is either uncertain of their product, trying to dupe you into buying more than you need, or have a product that is not quite up to these standards.
2. How do I seal up the bags? If you’re wanting to get in and out of the bag, just fold the lip over twice and tape with any standard tape. There’s no need for conductive tape; Scotch tape will do fine. If you want to permanently seal the bag, you can use a hot iron to melt the top closed.
3. Do you make these bags? No. I re-sell them for another company. They in turn buy them direct from the manufacturer. Anyone can buy them, so you can certainly go out and set up a retailer account and buy them yourself. You’ll save a few dollars, but honestly, not much. Much of the cost is in the shipping.
4. Why are you re-selling them? I received so many requests to recommend bags, and then when I did, folks couldn’t figure out where to buy them in small quantities. I finally decided to be the middle man and help people order high-quality EMP bags.
5. Can I trust that these are the best bags out there? They’re the best bags I’ve tested, and I’ve tested quite a few. What’s more important is that have been shown to be effective for the frequencies of an EMP. Many other companies (no names mentioned) sell their bags using hype and misleading tests.
