Anemia? Not considered that serious . . . people think
But it is ...if it is the ANEMIA that BUTYL causes
You can't just get some iron * and think that the blood forming organs will process it and all is well Check for autoimmune action on the kidneys * ... liver * ... * The kidneys produce hormones that help build strong bones and help form red blood cells. The kidney contains scattered cells that secrete erythropoietin, a hormone essential for production of red blood cells. | "Anemia of prematurity occurs in premature infants at 2 to 6 weeks of age and results from diminished erythropoietin response to declining hematocrit levels. ... low serum levels of erythropoietin (EPO) Erythropoietin, or its alternative erythropoetin or EPO, is a glycoprotein hormone that controls erythropoiesis, or red blood cell production. It is a cytokine for erythrocyte (red blood cell) precursors in the bone marrow. Also called hematopoietin or hemopoietin, it is produced by the kidney, and is the hormone that regulates red blood cell production. It also has other known biological functions. For example, erythropoietin plays an important role in the brain's response to neuronal injury.[1] EPO is also involved in the wound healing process" | Look at the Red Blood Cells - Find the Anemia * "The red blood cells become round-like, rather than hourglass shaped (an exaggeration of configuration. The change in shape is caused from the outer membrane becoming weakened, losing its ability to hold its elasticity." | 16. Other MSDS Information on 2-butoxyethanol NFPA Ratings: Health: 2 Flammability: 2 Reactivity: 0 Label Hazard Warning: DANGER! HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED, INHALED OR ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. AFFECTS CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, BLOOD AND BLOOD-FORMING ORGANS, KIDNEYS, LIVER & LYMPHOID SYSTEM. COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID & VAPOR. MAY CAUSE IRRITATION TO SKIN AND RESPIRATORY TRACT. Says the EPA / CA joint janitorial study: "Glycol alkyl ethers are commonly used as solvents. 2-Butoxy Ethanol is one of the most toxic of the glycol ethers. You should use products containing butoxyethanol with extreme care. It is a poison that can easily absorb through your skin to harm you. When working with it, always wear gloves and goggles and be sure the you have enough ventilation." More probably exposure is vapors in one's eyes ... but NOT ingestion as is suspected by some MSDSs
Suspect a host of autoimmune issues Exposure looks like the flu ... flatulence with diarrhea ... sometimes a cough ... 'the sniffles' Clues to anemia: 'the chills' rapid heart beat, gasping for breath ... pale * PLUS depression, headaches, short term memory loss... personality changes ... suicidal tendencies |
Medical Surveillance: check Consider the points of attack (liver, kidneys, lymphoid system, skin, blood, eyes, respiratory system) in placement and periodic physical examinations. [Sittig, M. Handbook of Toxic and Hazardous Chemicals and Carcinogens, 1985. 2nd ed. Park Ridge, NJ: Noyes Data Corporation, 1985. 155]**PEER REVIEWED** 2-Butoxyethanol causes acute hemolytic anemia in rats In F344 male rats, 2-butoxyethanol causes severe acute hemolytic anemia resulting in significant increase in the concentration of free plasma hemoglobin. Secondary to the hemolytic effects, 2-butoxyethanol also caused hemoglobinuria as well as histopathologic changes in the liver and kidney. *Notes to Physician: Administration of Sodium bicarbonate may be of value to treat acidosis. Monitor kidney and liver function and arterial blood gases closely. |
Ask Congress to required disclosure of ingredients in Home Cleaning Products * Protect Yourself From Future Harm - Learn what Products YOU use that contain it Check for what products contain 2-butoxyethanol such as (CAS Registry Number: 000111-76-2) in the Household Products Data Base http://hpd.nlm.nih.gov/ingredients.htm 5% concentration is not safe for home use, per one expert in product development. Also check for the complex version Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether or 2-2-butoxyethanol (CAS Registry Number: 000112-34-5)
EPA has studied Diethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether * back up copy Among the 101 EPA tested pesticides - for endocrine disruption, these: CAS | Chemical Name | 112-34-5 | Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether | 111-76-2 | Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether | C8H18O3 / CH2(CH2)3OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OHDG | MEC6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH | EPA - CA Janitorial Study * Avoid BUTYL * | | How does our body 'complain' about too much of a chemical exposure? * | What to consider for help . . . . . . This chemical can cause high or low blood sugar, high or low blood pressure; high or low body temp; High or low ... any glandular hormones - often thyroid with gall bladder issues prior; Horrible headaches; short term memory loss 'civilian gulf war syndrome' aka CFIDS |
Suspect Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether for Cancers, too *
Actually the list the Vietnam vets put forward *

Hi Tom. Great post. It definitely caught my eye and I'm going to share the link with family and friends. Good info.
This was very informative, I re-read parts of it, though some sentences went "off the side" lol, either way it was personally affective as I've had kidney failure 15 yrs ago, for 2 months, then function returned. Drs couldn't say what caused it. Thanks for the info. And thanks for the recent comment, I'm completely open to all opinions where spirituality is concerned.
TY for the information. Hope you have a blessed week. Janie
