To All Veterans and concerned citizens;
The Board of Vets Affairs will be meeting at the Veterans Home in Union Grove, Wisconsin 53182, on the 14th and 15th of January. I will send out the times when I get them but I would like to have as many vets in jackets at these meetings as possible.
These guys (including my dad) are getting screwed over big time. They will be charged over $3500 per month in assisted living to have an employee empty their garbage can once per week and be forced to eat pre-cooked food from King 3 times per day.
As we all know, these guys could be staying in a Marriott with lap dances and good food for less than that.
These guys are vets....... and, we are next up on the list to stay in these facilities. There are empty rooms that they can't fill, there is the crappy food issue. There is the issue of current residents in tears because they can't afford the rent.
This is a VETS HOME FOR VETS !! What's wrong with this picture?
Let's all show up for these meetings and protest. Remember when protesting was cool. This is America. These are vets that served their Country that are about to be thrown onto the streets when they need help the most.,
What's this about? It is plain old politics. If we can't get around this issue, what else is there..........

Mates, here's more;
I was at the Vet's home today for the meeting with Ken Black (secretary of DVA). They are "still working the issue" of how vets are going to pay for their room and board.
As you may or may not know, the vets trust fund is the pool that $$ come from. That money comes from the State and is used to support all Wisconsin vet's programs from education to cemeteries. That fund is shrinking at an alarming rate and the State is running a deficit.
All of that said, there are major issues at the Vet's home in Union Grove, Wisconsin. Rate increases January 1st, bad food that is trucked in frozen from King and then reheated, guys dying from freezing (in the paper).
I believe that we as local chapters of National organizations need to get involved.
The next Department of Vets Affairs board meeting is Friday morning, January 15th @ 0900. It will be in the basement of Boland Hall (the skilled nursing facility).
Can this be passed on via the RVC website and to our club members. I plan on attending and would love to see a shitload of our jackets in the crowd.
Thanks;

That's an absolute disgrace Tom. It makes me so angry and sad to see these people who put their lives on the line for the rest of us being treated like animals just because they are older and/or disabled from service. Especially since our illustrious elite govment officials of every level are living in the lap of luxury off these and everyone else's tax dollars. It's disgusting, and some day they will pay. If not in this life, then before the Judgment. God Bless and I hope you all get enough folks out for that!
I agree with Caroly. It is a disgrace. I am pretty libertarian, a small government type. But of all the groups in this country, veterans are the ones that this government does indeed have responsibility to take care of. Things are so upside down.
I served over 20 years, just retired a few years ago, and there but for the grace of God go I.
Thank you, Tom for serving at a time when it was literally a thankless job.
Here's what I think of our Vietnam vets
God bless you and keep up the good work
