Where This Star Clemson Tigers Quarterback Finds His Identity Will Inspire You (Hint: It’s Not Football)
Very humble.
Hi Friends and Readers:
Years ago when I was a senior in high school at Waterford, Wisconsin in 1967, we were nudged to consider what our future would/ should be, and so I pondered that point. Seeing my father come home so tired, sweaty and 'played out,' I had the lion's share of farm chores on the small 80-acre farm including milking the few cows and feeding/ watering the beef and hogs, etc., shoveling manure... LOL. I thought that being a rich farmer with 'hired help' would be nice, but I was a far cry from being 'rich.' So I planned and saved for college after being accepted few a few universities, but just didn't have the money. So I did the next best thing, joined the U.S. Army for one 3 year hitch and learned tons of great stuff and also built a good, firm foundation with the Military benefits. But I returned from RVN [the Republic of South Vietnam] a totally 'different man' at age 21, and I was plagued with a heavy load of PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome] and could not concentrate, etc. So after working a few places after I got married, I landed a good job, welding at AMC [American Motors Corp.] in Kenosha, WI., which was latterly gobbled up by Chrysler Corp. The Union and Company lied to the membership that we entered a "partnership" with Daimler-Chrysler, but in reality, it was a takeover! Don't we love to be lied to by companies, churches, false prophets, and the Gov't ?? Not to worry, other countries do it too. But I just wanted to inform you all that even Democracies are also full of corruption [although I prefer to live and die in America, and so thankful that we have the freedoms we still have--- especially the 1st, 2nd Amendments, also freedom to worship as we wish!] Truly, without the 2nd Amendment we would NOT have the rest!
So... many times our futures turn out to be radically different from those we 'planned' at the beginning. Now the final analysis must be: How are we now, and what is the sum total of our spent lives, dear brothers and sisters? I MUST repeat and celebrate that my life with all it's ups and downs, terrifying injuries, combat and the adventures of working for slave wages all my life until I retired is that my most valued possession is my close relationship with Father God, Yahweh, and His most beloved Son, Jesus Christ, as we know Him, and shall learn all the correct names when we get to heaven. PTL means: Praise the Lord.
Getting to know the Lord is easy, but it takes some time and effort, dear friends. Go figure: How do you get to know another human being? Communication, study, being with them and doing things together, but in God's case, the Father and Son left behind a special TM--Training Manual called the Bible. It is written on a 5th grade reading level for the most part so that anyone and everyone with an HONEST and humble Heart can understand and apply. But how much do we really "LOVE" God ?? Do we only 'need' Him when we are in trouble or needy or are we looking to really draw near to the Lord?
I have taken the time and space to steer you to the correct scriptures to learn more:
- Adam Clarke Commentary. Draw nigh to God - Approach Him, in the name of Jesus, by faith and prayer, and he will draw nigh to you - he will meet you at your coming. When a soul sets out to seek God, God sets out to meet that soul; so that while we are drawing near to him, he is drawing near to us.
- 4:1-10 Since all wars and fightings come from the corruptions of our own hearts, it is right to mortify those lusts that war in the members. Wordly and fleshly lusts are distempers, which will not allow content or satisfaction.
- James 4:8. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you This must be understood consistently with the perfection of God's immensity and omnipresence: the saints draw nigh to God when they present their bodies in his sanctuary; when they tread in his courts, and attend his ordinances; where they always find it good for them to draw nigh unto him; and blessed is the man that approaches to him ...
Have a great day!
Cordially,

As I mentioned here last week, as we see the demonic spirit of "political correctness" take firmer hold on all areas of our society, I'm convinced that the decision by true Christians to stand up for Jesus on certain issues and claims will spark an onslaught of derision and discrimination against us. Among those defining issues will be abortion, same sex marriage, parental rights, and the role of God in our national life. I believe it will ultimately come down to the declaration by Jesus Christ that He alone is the way to heaven. Jesus Himself said that because the world hated Him, it will hate us. He cautioned that true, and faithful, believers will be persecuted "for My name's sake." (John 15:21) I have often told you that if we are to remain strong in the coming days, months, and years, we must be planted on a firm foundation. To be able to unflinchingly press the claims of Christ in this hostile world, we must first understand the man who made those claims. On the last Report, we looked at some of the reasons "Why God Had to Become a Man." This week, I'll explain "The Man God Became." I'll share with you seven reasons why God had to become a man. I'll tell you about the claims that Jesus made. Claims that leave no wiggle room for doubt. Either He is the Messiah -- or He is a lunatic. As C.S. Lewis observed, "...let us not come up with that patronizing nonsense about His being just a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." You'll learn about His two distinct natures that are inseparably united -- total deity and true humanity. These two natures are united in one person, without confusion or mixture of attributes and function. The Lord Jesus is equal to God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, yet different in that He is also a true man. As we will see, this is the reason why He, and He alone, can be the Mediator between God and Man. Without Jesus, there could be no reconciliation between God and man. Without Jesus, there would be no redemption for us. As I said previously, the majesty, the beauty, and the sheer complexity of the concept of the God-Man Jesus Christ is almost overwhelming. But it was all necessary to redeem the creation lost to sin at the fall of Adam. Thank God that He loved us so much He provided a "second Adam" to unselfishly take our place and become our "kinsman redeemer." Don't miss this week's Report on TBN, Daystar, CPM Network, various local stations, www.hallindsey.com or www.hischannel.com. Check your local listings. And, once again, I pray that you have a wonderful and blessed Happy New Year!
God Bless,
