My wife is being transferred today to a near by Rehab center in Kenosha, WI for a few weeks, but I don't think the 'doctors' really know anything for sure, one way or another, as they have to deal with so many patients on a daily basis. All my friends are trying hard to cheer me up, but I suffer from depression anyway, so this a 'double battle' for me and stressful. Sharon is lonely and calls me many times a day, and visa versa. And you never really know how much you love someone until they are taken away, sick or injured. Then it's too late to say you love them, or say you are sorry for being such a pain in the neck. I have been told that many times, but we humans need repetition.

Sharon has become a strong witness for the Gospel of Jesus Christ these past year as she developed a daily study course of her own concerning that book I gave her, '101 Last Days Prophecies.' She has 2 note books filled with her own notes and scriptures that she looks up to verify and write down. I saw her hospital room mate the other day, an old, senile JW woman who is loud, boisterous, ornery and gives the staff a lot of trouble...lol. She made the comment to my wife upon seeing Sharon's KJV Bible, that that was not the correct bible-- and that it doesn't contain the name of God -- JEHOVAH. Sharon recited Psalm 83:18, where God's name IS written there, and that clammed her up...Ha! The JW's had to develop their own perversion of the Bible to suit their own trashing the Deity of Christ, etc., and to support their own lies and machinations. That is the bare truth! I ought to know because I lost 22 years trapped in that destructive org. even being appointed a ministerial servant. Don't get me started-- but they are responsible for sending thousands to hell. They say that only 144,000 are going to heaven, and any disagreements with their 'WatchTower mag., can lead to fellowship. They have an unusually high suicide rate and plenty of inner corruption and insidious immorality-- and how arrogant they are! There are many different Christian churches that teach the truth of the Bible, but I learned more about God and the Bible from Victory Baptist Church in Kenosha, WI., in 4 years than I did all of the 22 wasted years at the 'Wisdom Hole' [Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses]! They are a destructive cult, and deadly. They love to hook in people who don't have a rock solid Christian foundation.

So at least Sharon had a proud high point yesterday that she shared with me.

Now... even as I speak, Sharon called me again, and said that because Medicare might not pay for the Rehab, I may have to come and take her home. Can't you all imagine what obama-care will be like-- about 100 times worse, and we still don't know what's in the bill !!

Secrets of getting Old.

The Secrets of getting Old.... a nice song and experience, important to know and remember. One of the Deacons at church, a fine, warm brother named Joe Belanger, is helping me deal with the worry and sadness of my wife's down ward plunge of health in the hospital again. Precious friends like him and all my Christian on-line friends, believers, and others, are worth their weight in GOLD! Granted, Bro. Joe, couldn't tell me anything new that I didn't already know--but his friendship, time and effort was well received as an encouragement. He told me that I must break out from my sadness and despair, and regularly spend time with people at church.
The scriptural reasoning is from Hebrews 10:24-25, "And let us consider one another for provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." That means: TRY TO FIND A BIBLE TEACHING CHURCH NEAR YOU AND ATTEND IT REGULARLY !

The Proverbs bare out that a true [believer] friend is worth more than a fleshly brother
who is not. OK... friends are used by God to help people in need, etc., and that is so fine. But we must learn to accept the responsibility of depending on God and the Holy Spirit when we are alone without any human help! We charge up our 'batteries' by intense Bible study, Prayer, and association with brothers and sisters of kindred spirit-- fellow believers of the Bible and God. But caution/ Beware: Not ALL churches teach to true thrust of the Bible- God's Word! WE have to rely on our Spirit and Bible trained mind and heart-- so as to discern if a church has the Spirit anointed leaders
/ pastors, who teach ONLY the pure truth, and NOT their own private personal ambitions, opinions, made up rules!! I have been to many churches where the head pastor was more interested in promoting his own wayward beliefs and opinions. And many churches make up a goofy set of rules that are NOT bible based. Let the Bible be your guild all the time, and you will steer clear of LEGALISM.

I tried to call my wife in the hospital a few times this morning, but she doesn't answer her cell phone. The hoist in my truck that hauls my power scooter in and out is broke--somewhat, so that I worry now about my own mobility. When it rains-- it pours.
Have a great day!

Reply from WI Congressman Paul Ryan.

Tom's Journal.

Dear Tom:

Thank you for contacting me to share your views on Congress's continued consideration of legislation that would overhaul our nation's health care system. I appreciate you taking the time to write to me on this important issue.

As you know, for the last few months, the American people have been engaged in a critical debate on how best to improve and reform our nation's health care system. Every individual, family, and business has a vested interest in making sure that Congress gets these reforms right and as various bills have been considered by Congress, I have continued to offer substantive proposals that would expand individuals' access to care, control the increasing costs associated with our healthcare system, and do so without placing the government in control of individual health care decisions.

I understand that there are deeply held views on all sides of this issue, but even those with drastically different opinions can agree that meaningful health care reform is long overdue. That said, it is increasingly clear that Washington's trillion-dollar, two-thousand page overhauls will not only fail to address what's broken in health care - but will actually make matters worse. On November 7, 2009, I joined members of both parties in opposing H.R. 3962, which ultimately passed the House by a narrow margin of 220-215.

Following the passage of H.R. 3962 by the House, this bill was debated and amended in the Senate. On Christmas Eve, in a 60 - 39 party-line vote, the Senate approved their version of H.R. 3962. The path to secure a majority of votes in the House and the necessary 60 votes in the Senate took place largely behind close doors in Washington, and this was reflected in the hundreds of new pages of legislative text which were added to the legislation just hours before its passage in both chambers.

To be sure, the Affordable American Health Care Act of 2009 has noble aims. It attempts to greatly expand health coverage; achieve higher quality care for all Americans; and lower health care costs so these expenditures do not cause unsustainable Federal budget deficits in the future. These are goals that Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle can agree upon, but the policies in this bill would likely cause the opposite effects.

I voted against H.R. 3962 and before explaining the alternative that I put forward, I wanted to elaborate on some of the most troubling aspects of this bill:

A Government Takeover of Health Care: Rather than address the current health care market distortions created by flawed government policies, H.R. 3962 would expand Washington's heavy hand and exacerbate what's broken in health care. This is not alarmist rhetoric; the legislation proposes:

- One-Size Fits All Health Care. The bill's rating restrictions, coverage mandates, and benefit requirements will halt innovation and drive individualized health products out of the market. The bill disqualifies Health Savings Accounts, which provide more than eight million people with access to low-cost coverage. Additionally, all plans would be subject to approval by a new Health Choices Commissioner, with the authority to penalize any health plan that does not comply with the rules set by this new federal bureaucracy.

- Government Rationing. The bill empowers the federal government with even greater leverage in deciding which medical treatments are worth paying for and which are not. In an effort to contain costs of its new health care entitlement, a new "Comparative Effectiveness Research" program will inevitably impose government control over physicians' medical decisions, and cause private-sector insurers to limit coverage in line with the government's choices.

- Price Setting. While the legislation suggests providers will be able to negotiate rates with the government, there is nothing to prevent this from becoming a take-it-or-leave-it, price-setting system. Put simply, prices will be dictated to health care providers at rates determined by a cost-wary Federal Government.

Another Unsustainable Health Entitlement: Current challenges in health care are driven largely by fundamental problems in existing Federal Government entitlement programs. Rather than address our existing entitlement programs, H.R. 3962 layers on yet another Washington-based medical program - a new $1.3-trillion health entitlement that will cost an estimated $2.4 trillion when fully implemented.

- A Faulty "Self-Sustaining" Public Plan. The bill's government-run, public health insurance program is intended to be financed by premiums from beneficiaries. As noted by the Congressional Budget Office [CBO], however, the public plan is expected to charge higher premiums than private health insurance - which Congress is unlikely to allow, and which appears to contradict the ostensible goal of boosting "competition" to "keep private insurers honest."

- Driving States Deeper Into the Red. Rather than make quality health care more affordable, H.R. 3962 attempts to cover the uninsured by adding them to ever expansive government-run programs. The dramatic expansion of Medicaid would force cash-strapped States to spend an additional $34 billion over the next 10 years, beyond the unsustainable Medicaid burdens States already face.

Heavy Taxes and Fees on Individuals and Businesses. The massive expansion of the government's role in the delivery of health care relies heavily on a number of mandates and tax penalties. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that $729.5 billion in new taxes would hit individuals and employers. Among those tax increases are:

- A total of $460.5 billion in job-killing small-business surtaxes (section 551).

- Another $135 billion in employer mandates, including the "play-or-pay" scheme punishing even small companies that cannot provide group health insurance (sections 511-512).

- An additional $33 billion in individual mandates - including an unprecedented Washington requirement that everyone must buy health insurance or be subject to Federal penalties (section 501).

It is critical to point out that H.R. 3962 is not the only way to tackle this issue. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike continue to offer substantive alternatives - proving that we can have universal access to health coverage in America without the government taking it over, without trillions in new taxes, spending, and debt. For instance, the Patients' Choice Act, which I introduced earlier in the 111th Congress, aims to fix what is broken in our health care system without breaking what is working. It would address the major problems of our health care system by focusing on a few core concepts:

Emphasize Prevention - Five preventable chronic conditions consume 75% of our health spending and cause two-thirds of American deaths. Investing in prevention will lower long-term costs and ensure Americans live longer and happier lives.

Create a Market that Works for Patients- The status quo regulation of the insurance market does not provide incentives for insurance companies to cover chronically sick patients and many sick patients are unable to afford premiums. Businesses must play by transparent rules and compete for patients' business. The market must work for every patient every time. Patients should have convenient and affordable options, and they should have control of those options. Doctors, hospitals, and nurses should be more involved in patient-centered care.

Guarantee Choice of Coverage Options- Patients should be able to choose from a variety of private insurance plans. The federal government would run a health care system?"or a public plan option?"with the compassion of the IRS, the efficiency of the post office, and the incompetence of Katrina. We cannot entrust the federal government to deliver high quality health care to every American. All Americans have a right to personalized and individual health care that will meet their unique needs.

Insist on Fairness for Every Patient- Patients already in government programs deserve a human approach to their health benefits and fewer bureaucratic barriers. Individuals struggling to purchase their own health insurance deserve the same tax breaks as Americans working in Fortune 500 Companies. Medicare beneficiaries deserve delivery choice when selecting between health benefits.

Fairly Compensate Patient Injuries- Patients should have the right to fair legal representation and fair compensation for tragic, inexcusable mistakes in the health care field. However, today's legal system serves the self-interest of personal injury lawyers, drives up costs, and delays justice. Science driven and results-oriented change is needed today.

Restore Accountability to Government Programs- The children covered under government health care programs today will face future tax increases in order to pay the $36 trillion unfunded liabilities in the Medicare program alone. Medicaid fraud and mismanagement waste at least $32.7 billion in taxpayer dollars every year. Reforms must bring about efficiency, transparency, and results. Failure to act now will jeopardize our nation's long-term fiscal security.

Include Ideas from Governors and States- Rather than one-size-fits all Washington mandates, a comprehensive solution to health reform must include governors, state legislatures, and every American citizen.

In many ways, the Patients' Choice Act shows that while there is division on how to solve the problems in our health care system; there is also agreement on certain reforms that should be enacted. We should look to end the practice of discriminating based on pre-existing conditions or increasing rates of insurance when individuals need it. We can and should reduce the waste, fraud, and abuse associated with Medicare and other government programs. But, we can make these improvements without driving our nation further into debt and without making government the primary actor in health care decisions.

As the New Year has commenced, Congressional leaders and the President have rightly recognized that although the American people want drastic changes to how they receive and purchase health care, they do not want H.R. 3962 to become law. Despite having passed legislation in both the House and the Senate, the President has been unable to reconcile the differences between the bills and Congressional Leadership is now determining whether to use the difficult budget reconciliation process to move H.R. 3962 or to return to the drawing board. Moving forward, I am hopeful that the President and the Majority will reconsider the heavy-handed approach that they have used to muscle this bill through Congress and will remain open to alternative solutions, such as the Patients' Choice Act.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on this critical debate and as Congress considers this legislation further, I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind. If I can be of additional assistance to you regarding this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always happy to respond and be of service to you.

<<< Sharon and Tom wood working together, as a good team!

I certainly agree with Michael G. Mickey's report below -- and God bringing wrath upon our Nation for touching the "Apple of God's Eye' by hurting the children of Israel. The 'heathen in the WH' is so full of himself, setting himself up like a god!

But right now my mind and heart are with my dear wife, Sharon, whom I took to the Kenosha, WI ER again, this morning, with more congestive heart failure and much trouble breathing with big time pain. The attending young ER doctor, [Dr. Longtree], gave Sharon her requested prognosis that she is getting worse, and WILL NOT be getting better. My heart dropped like a stone and I could not look my wife in the eye at that verdict. God help us, and I feel so useless and impotent at this point, even though we both knew this was coming. There is not too much more the staff can do as they already have her maxed out in medication and procedures, but they will keep her over night with IV to drain more fluid from her lungs, of course.

For some reason I have been very tired lately, wanting to sleep early like 6PM, but also having nightmares and intrusive thoughts and a toothache... Ha! With all the past human failures and arguing in the past, my wife and I seemed to just click and love each other lately with nothing else mattering. It just dawned on me to make me almost cuss-- why do couples fuss, fight and hurt each other concerning little things that are not so important, when our days are short and we ought to just rejoice in the Lord and be happy for what we've got-- knowing that we are SAVED by the Grace of God, and going to heaven?? I find this present circumstance hard to deal with, and get emotional about the loss of companionship and doing favors for each other. Yes, we knew this time was drawing near with Sharon's down ward spiral of health problems.... and my Insurance has already shelled out big money. 100 years ago, she would have already been dead, with no modern health, meds and procedures, but it still hurts. I have seen some close friends lose their mates, and they are just lost, starring out into space.

Heaven Is Our Home, and this short earthly existence is just a testing ground, IMO, hopefully doing the Lord's will / work in practicing a somewhat righteous life--telling/ sharing with others the wonderful hope of Salvation, Grace and Heaven.
There is no pill, drug/ med., or elixir for what I have ailing me today and beyond, except God's tender mercy and the Holy Spirit to keep me on the right path.

Sharon just called me from the 8th Floor of Kenosha Memorial Hosp, down by the Lake with an excellent view of Lake Michigan, and she said they gave her a mighty shot of something that knocked her out for a while and so she got a nice rest and is in better spirits, PTL. I will see her again this evening.

Ain't it the truth ? With all due respect, George W. Bush did the same thing by getting ALL his ducks in a row long before he got his election train moving. A short note in history... the old Germans had a special body of military men called the "Junkers" who did nothing but plan the next/ future war-- even as one ended, they began planning for the NEXT war. etc. Remember that the USA also had a "Dept. of War" in the old days before it was called the Department of Defense. The Dims [sic] and especially the Ultra Left Liberal, PROGRESSIVES [see Cloward and .....], have been slowly planning the systematic down fall of America since the 1950's and before, IMO, and according to Glenn Beck... bless his pea-picking heart! I distinctly remember living in a bad situation when I was laid off from Chrysler, 1994-95 at Vets Place Central [a converted old hospital on 35th and Wells St.- Milwaukee] while I attended MATC [Milwaukee Area Tech College--studying more welding to get certified in TIG], that the quasi-secret entities running that place were radical Blacks seeking to undermine the American system and promote their uber Left Black policy agenda, and I can go into detail because I kept a record / Journal while I was there getting abused and trashed, like most other token 'white Veterans.' It was an 'up side down world akin to the Planet of the Apes' place.

All this didn't click in my mind until Glenn Beck brought these same things to light this past year, but now it is all so clear! And it was widely know, or at least suggested that the Black administrators of Vets Place Central had some under the table dealings to skim money off the top of Federal and State grants-- the same way obama and his Dims are doing to the TARP rip off and other scams they have flown under the radar-- all secret...Ha! So much for the so-called 'transparency' Junior Senator obama promised to get elected by hook or crook.

In the final analysis we need to remember that WE citizens must bare some 'COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY' for electing that bozo !!! Many of us were sleeping at the switch, allowing the essential drifting away of the majority of things taking place, not being studied in the U.S. Constitution and should have been taking a more active part in keeping track of legislation being passed on the sly. Oh well, many bible experts claim that after the average age of 200 years most big nations start to go down the tube-- and it's true. See History 101.

Blessed be the People who CHOOSE to follow and accept the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone can Save us from eternal damnation. It's so simple-- yet the prideful people -- the MAJORITY of earthling man will CHOOSE to ignore the Christ and try to cure the world of woes by themselves. I was such a stupid, prideful man in my youth, but God, for some reason protected me in battle and numerous deadly accidents [broken neck- C1 and C2, multiple 12 fractured ribs, crashed helicopters, motorcycles, near misses, on the job injuries, etc]. I sure do remember the time that I got on my knees at the lowest point in my life to beg God to show me the correct way to worship and follow Him, and to correct my misguided ways. That has to take place in order to be truly be SAVED and get the Salvation...but that's only the beginning. It takes more time to learn how to rely on God and the Holy Spirit DAILY, by studying His Word, the Bible, and apply Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not lean upon your OWN understanding." I always envied how other people could advance and work a smoother way in walking with the Lord, when some things came hard for me.... lol.

But in the race for ever lasting life in Heaven--just knowing that you are definitely GOING THERE
gives US discerning, learned Christians a GOOD FEELING!! We are still commanded to to the preaching/ sharing the Gospel- work until the Lord takes us up in Rapture, because only God knows how many others are out there who seek to know Him too-- just as we were, although time is surely growing short. We are not EARNING our way into heaven in doing this important work-- but it is our solemn commission as His loving, humble servants.

Sharon is feeling better today --having one of her "good" days. She is in the process of getting a specialist/ internist male doctor who has more smarts and initiative than the GP lady she has now. I had to call the goofy VA again, to hold their hand in getting my medications straightened out... again. Why can't they do the math to figure out that, if they give me 30 days worth of pills, I will surely run out of them at that time and need more?! Half the time, they get it right, but you can never really trust them to do it all on their own. Vets have been fighting with the VA system forever ---and won't YOU civilians get a jolt when obama-care becomes law and big Gov't screws it up royal ! But it will be too late at that point. The American Paradise will vanish and the so-called "hard times" we think we are having now will be just a sad dream of regret. Remember, kicking God out of schools, court houses and money should have been the real wake up call and red flags going up.... but in fact, we were too fat, too complacent, too sleepy, my friends and readers. But that's just my opinion... so don't shoot me... don't waste a good bullet...lol. Save it for hunting rabbits, etc.. because you will be wanting a little meat with your rice and beans.

May God richly bless all His servants and believers, especially those in other lands being tortured and killed for His name. I believe that may happen here next... so help us Lord.

The danger to America is not Barack H. Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgement to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

C-Rations.

Tom's Journal.
http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/
tschuckman@aol.com

Ah... Yes! The real problem I had was that the dates on the C-Rats were from the Korean War [ early 1950's]--but I was in Vietnam from 1968-70. The fruit cocktail was OK, the cheese fine. But the spaghetti was only good for attaching to the outer 'clips' of my M-60 machine guns as a 'feeder tray' to help convey the belt ammo into the weapon... LOL. The cigarettes was always stale and the bread was moldy. Still, if you were hungry enough, you ate the food. Our pilots who were too lazy [but I heard that they had to pay for their C-Rations..] to take their own 'C-Rats' boxes in the early morning-- later begged some food from me, the lowly Sp/4 door gunner -Helicopter Aviation in the 'Nam. What a rush!
And you think YOU civilians have it rough now ?? Ha! Just wait for one more year to roll by when obama has finished destroying America as we know it.

I was raised on a farm with my 4 siblings by a Navy dad who was very strict about NEVER wasting food--that it was a serious sin, and I was never picky nor spoiled. In Basic Training, at Fort Campbell, KY, we had ONE MINUTE to eat all of our respective meals at a mess hall that could only take a few squads at a time. We all learned to eat fast, or dump it in the outside garbage cans with a Drill Sargent watching us like a hawk.

C-RATIONS
Commercially prepared meals were used in the field and at times when hot meals were not available. These meals came in a case containing 12 meals. Each meal was in it's own cardboard box, which contained the individual items sealed in cans. A can opener (called both a "John Wayne" or a "P-38") was needed to open the cans. The accessory pack with each meal was sealed in a foil pouch.

This is the official Quartermaster's description of C-Rations used in Vietnam

"The Meal, Combat, Individual, is designed for issue as the tactical situation dictates, either in individual units as a meal or in multiples of three as a complete ration. Its characteristics emphasize utility, flexibility of use, and more variety of food components than were included in the Ration, Combat, Individual (C Ration) which it replaces. Twelve different menus are included in the specification.

Each menu contains: one canned meat item; one canned fruit, bread or dessert item;
one B unit; an accessory packet containing cigarettes, matches, chewing gum, toilet paper, coffee, cream, sugar, and salt; and a spoon. Four can openers are provided in each case of 12 meals. Although the meat item can be eaten cold, it is more palatable when heated.

Each complete meal contains approximately 1200 calories. The daily ration of 3 meals provides approximately 3600 calories."

There were 4 choices of meat in each B group. Because there were several "vintages" of C’s issued to the Marines in Vietnam, more than 4 items may be listed in the B groups as well as the brands of cigarettes included in the accessory pack.

How to make a C-Ration Stove

The small cans included in the meal were ideal for making a stove. Using a "John Wayne" pierce a series of closely spaced holes around the top and bottom rims of the can. This stove was satisfactory, but did not allow enough oxygen to enter which caused incomplete burning of the blue Trioxin heat tablet, causing fumes which irritated the eyes and respiratory tract. A whole heat tab had to be used.

A better stove was created by simply using the can opener end of a "church key" (a flat metal device designed to open soft drink and beer containers with a bottle opener on one end and can opener on the other commonly used before the invention of the pull tab and screw-off bottle top) to puncture triangular holes around the top and bottom rims of the can which resulted in a hotter fire and much less fumes. With this type of stove only half a Trioxin heat tab was needed to heat the meal and then the other half could be used to heat water for coffee or cocoa. A small chunk of C-4 explosive could also be substituted for the Trioxin tablet for faster heating. It would burn hotter and was much better for heating water.
    .
A stove was usually carried in the back pack or cargo pocket and used repeatedly until the metal began to fail.

How to Heat a C-Ration Meal

  1. Choose the meal to be consumed
  2. Open the can lid leaving at least 1/4 inch metal attached
  3. Bend the stillattached lid so that the inside of the can lid is facing 180 degreese from it's original position (inside up).
  4. Bend the edges of the can to form a handle
  5. Set meal on stove and heat to desired temperature, stirring fequently to prevent burning.
  6. "Outstanding" Ham & Mothers

    • Open and heat a can of Ham and Lima Beans
    • When hot, add one can of cheese spread and stir until all cheese is melted.
    • Crumble 4 crackers into the mixture and blend thouroughly.
    • Eat when the crackers have absorbed all excess moisture.

How to make a C-Ration Coffee Cup

  1. Obtain the B (large, dry) can from the C-ration meal

  4. Notch out a groove around the stick near both ends.
