Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/

I HAVE BEEN KNOWING ABOUT THESE STATS EVER SINCE I STARTED WORKING FOR AMC auto makers in Kenosha, WI., since:  11-7-72, as a welder !   That is why I NEVER donated to the "United Fund !!!"  People made fun of me, including the moron 'boss man' but I would not give in, because I knew it was all a big, immoral, rip off !   Do your home work.  I donate to my own small church, it's supported Christian missionaries, and other Bible oriented orgs., plus a few close friends who really need my support.  I try to take care of my Mom too.

    Friends,
I have been misled in the past by a number of smooth, silver tongued, weasels in my life, and had to learn the HARD WAY,  so I try not to look down my nose at others who were misled.  But in the case of Obama,  just like tobacco, false religion,  time has been sufficient to where ample PROOF is available to set things straight !

I was deeply, emotionally hurt, with a strong case of Combat PTSD, after I came home from 2 years in Vietnam, on 30 March 70, and was looking, searching for the real Truth of God, when I was lured into that poisonous cult of the WatchTower- JW people, and swallowed it whole for about 22 years,  but I 'escaped' --- and finally found the Lord, and the KJV Bible.   I also found out that our Gov't and the VA could not be trusted, nor "Big Pharm", many doctors, and many false religions.   Come, let us reason, about these different things, friends.   The TRUTH is out there, and available,  but sometimes you/ we have to dig for it !

So, now, in the year 2015, the truth of the matter is laid open for all to see,  "President" Obama has had a destructive hidden agenda from the get-go, and it is not Christian/ Jewish friendly !   I believe that he is the precursor to the Anti-Christ, and that the end is near.   The end of the world, as we know it.  And it's not just our own Gov't but the entire world is controlled by Satan the devil,  our air and water is polluted, so are our human bodies poisoned so that we are mere shadows of our fore fathers !!  I have been reading about the total poisoning of our bodies by "bisphenol A"  --BPA --Estrogen-like substance that we get from plastics.   Too much of this stuff makes men feminine and weak!   I am totally serious.   Men cannot "fix" all these problems we face today, but only God can rectify and cleanse the earth and the heavens, before we annihilate and pollute ourselves to death.   Only the KJV Bible has all the answers, and if it takes 'learning another language,'  we all need to do what is necessary to learn and survive what's coming.   The Rapture is our way out.

Christians are ALL commissioned to share the Gospel, so that all honest, humble hearted people get a chance to change, learn, and obey God's pure offering of life.   Most people on earth will refuse the gift of life, for one reason or another.   But it's always been that way because we are born sinful, selfish and greedy, proud.    Psalm 34:19, says that the 'Lord delivers.'   Actually, friends,  it's the 'only game in town.'

"President" offends Christians at Prayer Breakfast

Reverend Franklin Graham summed it up in part on Facebook: " Many people in history have used the name of Jesus Christ to accomplish evil things for their own desires. But Jesus taught peace, love and forgiveness. He came to give His life for the sins of mankind, not to take life. Mohammad on the contrary was a warrior and killed many innocent people. True followers of Christ emulate Christ-true followers of Mohammed emulate Mohammed." He was talking at the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday about how the "president" compared Christians to members of the Islamic State in the atrocities they have committed.  Prior to ripping into Christians, the "president" welcomed "His Holiness the Dalai Lama."

The "president" said, " We see ISIL, a brutal, vicious death cult that, in the name of religion, carries out unspeakable acts of barbarism  -- terrorizing religious minorities like the Yezidis, subjecting women to rape as a weapon of war, and claiming the mantle of religious authority for such actions." He recounted other Islamic atrocities and then said, "And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ." In the same context, he went on to imply that Christians were targeting other faiths in India. I know that Christians are persecuted in India, by none other than--yes, you know--Islamists.

The "president" was trying to make the case that men do terrible things in the name of religion, and they often do not truly represent that religion when they do them. In comparing Islam and Christianity, a little bit of truth makes a better lie. Yes, there were and are wrong-minded people who conduct evil in the name of Jesus Christ. But nowhere in the Bible does it instruct followers of Jesus Christ to kill those who do not follow him. Jesus said in Matthew 5:44, " But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." He gave us a new commandment to love one another as he has loved us.

This is a stark contrast to the writings of the false prophet Mohammad who said in Sura 9:5 "... slay the infidels wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush." Sura 8:12 says, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes." These are just two examples of how Islam is instructed to handle Jews and Christians. The "president's" remarks are extremely offensive. This "president" attempts to justify Islam at every venue. He was born and raised an Islamic Communist, no matter what he said to get elected.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Book of Daniel--most important prophectic book.

    Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/

    tschuckman@aol.com

I am always struck and awed by the pure simplicity of true Salvation from the death of Jesus Christ,  Actually, the more 'educated' people are in the Liberal Colleges these days, the harder it becomes, IMHO, for them to accept the simple Truth, and easy access to total Salvation as  a FREE GIFT from God ! !   That pure fact almost stumbled me too, after I exited that false church of the 'poisoned mind; -- the JW cult !  They teach a shadowy salvation IF their followers follow the rules and regs of the Watch Tower Society Governing Body, or old power hungry men, and have their own translation of the Bible which they messed up and truncated.   Shame.   I was far from perfect back then, and STILL AM, yet I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I AM SAVED and going to heaven....  because I have put all my Faith and Trust in the all encompassing ransom sacrifice of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ !!   Hal Lindsey always puts things into prospective, so that it's all so logical.  I try to use similar speech and thought patterns to aid me in my small, rural ministry of sharing the Gospel with everyone I meet, when possible.   No one has ever tried to shoot or stab me for doing this,  so far... lol.

But just read the News every day and find out that the 'President' insults and condemns Christianity, when ever he has the chance....  WE are under attack right now, dear friends and fellow Believers !  I also want to memorize Psalm 34: 19, 'that God knows how to deliver His servants !'  Please MAKE the time to read the short presentation below, friends.   I found it very  informative and very interesting.

I kept my doctor and pre-Lab 'read:  blood draw,' early this morning at the Iron Mtn., MI., VAMC  [Veterans' Administration Medical Center] in the cold Artic Air U.P. here at 0730, and all my blood work looked good at the kind, doctor went over it all with me later.   He was concerned about the open ulcer on my Left ankle and suggested some X-rays and more treatment, etc.,  but I am not too worried.   So, now, I don't have to see him for the next 6 months, and I feel very good about that.    I just wanted to say that ALL the nurses and staff were very kind and friendly to me today,  with "Good Mornings and Smiles" and that made me feel good inside !    Smiles and professional courtesy on a blustery Winter day in Feb....  Yes!

I want to share something good that my dear, pretty wife, Terri shared with me a year ago or so:   A NON-addictive, simple, medicine that really helps my Arthritis, big time:  Diclofenac NA 75 MG EC Tab,  that are NOT narcotic !!  But you need to take in some food with them because they might upset your stomach.  If you suffer from bad arthritis, go see if your doctor will help you with this NON--   NARCOTIC  medicine.      NO- Narcotics in these tablets, so don't even think of knocking on my door, or our Rottweiler  male will EAT you !  I am only trying to help my friends gain some relief from all their ARTHRITIS PAIN.   You combat Veterans, especially.    Maybe I was wrong to even post this stuff.   What do you think ??    I also treat myself from long years of study, or healing Herbs and vitamins.

    Warm Regards,
    Tom

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Unavoidable transportation delays interrupted our network delivery schedules this week. So once again I'll discuss how the steadfast faithfulness of Daniel provided the perfect picture of the certainty of God's Word.

The book of Daniel is the most important prophetic book in the Bible, even more so than the Book of Revelation. This week, however, I will focus, not on the prophecies of Daniel, but on the man and his character. It's an especially timely study in a world charging headlong into a new dark age.

Daniel lived one of the most remarkable lives in the history of the world. Even as a teenager, he changed the course of history. But in the story I want to examine this week, many years have gone by. The Medes and Persians had defeated the Babylonians and taken their empire. Darius now ruled. For about twenty years following the death of King Nebuchadnezzar, it had seemed like Daniel's career was over. But as happened to him so often, he quickly rose through the ranks again.

After becoming one of the most important figures in the empire, Daniel's integrity and the king's confidence in him ignited the jealousy of his peers. But the only way they could eliminate him was by concocting a plan that depended on his faithfulness to his God.

As the world grows darker, God can and will prosper and care for His people, but don't expect everything to be easy. The psalmist wrote, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous." But he doesn't stop there. He goes on to affirm, "But the Lord delivers him out of them all." (Psalm 34:19, NASB)

Daniel is testimony to that promise. He made the decision to honor his convictions rather than obey the dictates of the state. By doing so, he assured himself of a terrible fate. He was thrown to the hungry lions.

And his friend, King Darius, trapped by the power of his own words, was helpless to intervene.

It's interesting to note that because the law of the Medes and Persians, once signed and confirmed by the king, was unalterable, King Darius found himself facing a dim reflection of the dilemma God Himself once faced when Adam and Eve chose death over life with Him. He loved them but had given His word that sin always carries a death sentence. And God's word is infinitely more certain than the law of the Medes and Persians.

So in His infinite wisdom, God devised a way for His love to deliver sinners from His wrath while not compromising His righteousness and justice. Jesus Christ took upon Himself a human nature, lived as a true man, and never once sinned. He therefore qualified to voluntarily take upon Himself the penalty and punishment for our sins. He died in our place and secured a true forgiveness for each one who will receive it as a gift. Salvation cannot be given if any human merit is attached to it. Salvation is an absolute gift.

Tune in this week as I examine how the intractability of the Law of the Medes and Persians and Daniel's faith in his God led to a national revival of faith in the one true God.

    Islamic Style.

    Tom's Journal. http://tomschuckmanjournal.blogspot.com/

    tschuckman@aol.com

    Friends,
The Bible was made/ written for all sincere, honest, God-loving people, and surprisingly, you do NOT have to be some special, "Bible College" scholar to understand it !!   I went thru all these emotions one time in my life too, having trouble understanding the most pure King James Version Bible, written in 1611, and sadly too many pastors refused to help me!  Shame on them!!  I forgot how I stumbled upon that GREAT, FINE, DEFINED KJV Bible [see:  biblefortoeday.org].   This was the best thing since 'sliced bread !'  And you don't have to shell out lots of money, although I much prefer a nice, leather bound, flexible, large print, easy on the eyes rendition of that grand Book.   Hey!  I quit smoking those expensive, deadly cigarettes in 1972, and never looked back, and I don't drink much anymore.  Smile !   The Holy Spirit can aid you in doing anything ! ! !   And if  you "fall down" -- just get up and keep trying until you succeed,  but give God the glory.

Now,  a good, easy way [touch stone--  litmus test] to determine if a "holy book" is the right way to go, is to make sure that there is NO demonism or demon worship in that book.   The only Book that is free from all demonic teaching/ activity, is the Holy Bible of God Almighty, all and only, 66 books, from Genesis to Revelation !   You can get a copy with any known language under the sun!   Just type something in the "DIALOGUE BOX" up on your PC... PERSONAL COMPUTER.  Go for it.  Like:  Where to buy a new KJV Bible.  Bang!  Hit "Enter."   And,  if the church you are attending doesn't have bibles available in the seats, pews, or library for people to borrow, or you never see most of the people there carrying their OWN COPIES OF THE BIBLE in plain sight ---  RUN FROM THAT CHURCH!!   It's not the same if a church displays bible scripts on a machine-- on a wall or projection slide deal.  'When you don't use a muscle --  you lose it, and you get out of shape and rusty !!   It's the same when you don't dig into your bible for a while...  you get slow and your fingers don't work so good...  lol.

But, now, to the subject at hand,  Obama and other wimps and liars are just blowing smoke in your eyes, by saying Islam is a religion of PEACE.   Their holy book promotes violence, and women are always 2nd class people, born to serve the men.   Most of the violence in the world is because of Islam, and most of the terrorists.  Yet, the 'occupant in the WH' only gives weak lip service to this problem.

In my humble, but studied opinion,  I think that Islam will continue to hurt and punish the West...  until Israel is forced to push back and hurt Islam, big time.   I know, it sounds ridicules that such a small country the size of Israel could and would do something that big, that great,  but God has always used the "foolish things" to work His miracles and great feats !   It is written !  And all bible smart Christian Believers believe that the Rapture could come now at any time.  Everything is linked together in close proximity.  So,  Prepping is only for the short deal between the span of time:  NOW, to the Rapture.   And we don't really care what happens after the Rapture,  because we will have no control of things, once we are in that "Safe Place" --called Heaven !  Our main PRIORITY WORK now, is to preach, share and spread the Gospel !!   If you really, truly 'LOVE' people, friends, offspring, relatives, etc....  share the Gospel with them TODAY ! ! !  It's the only game in town.

    Warm Regards,
    Tom

Separation of church and state, Islamic style

Separation of church and state is gaining a lot steam these days. The Islamic State, the new Islamic Caliphate, burned alive in a cage a Jordanian pilot, what Reuters reports as a form of killing that is "considered despicable by Islam." All of a sudden it is revealed the religion that enslaves women and children, is an extensive dealer of drugs and human trafficking, cuts off limbs, buries people up to their waists and stones them to death, beats people to a pulp with whips, and beheads men, women, and children who do not agree with Islam, is now against burning someone alive. Such humanitarians these, people! All over the Middle East, Reuters reports, even IS supporters are saying it crossed the line.

Reuters reported, "King Abdullah cut short an official visit to the United States on Tuesday. In a televised statement to the nation, he urged national unity and said the killing was a cowardly act of terror by a criminal group that has no relation to Islam." Jordan promptly hanged two Islamic State Islamists--one a woman already sentenced to death for terrorism, and the other a man, sentenced to death for his leadership in al Qaeda. The Jordanian pilot's father said, "I want the state to get revenge for my son's blood through more executions of those people who follow this criminal group that shares nothing with Islam." So separation of Islam and Islamic State apparently rests on a method of killing. I'm not kidding.

This is the way it is with Islam. There is always some contradiction that gives plausible deniability that this act or that one is associated with Islam. The clerics always point to the "peace of Islam" and how Islam is a peaceful religion. It is if you agree to submit to its brutal system of Sharia Law and make no waves, living you life in fear of upsetting someone. Because if you do, there is aplenty in the Koran to make sure what ever you do has severe and inhumane consequences. In 2012, an Islamic husband killed his wife because she bore him a daughter when he wanted a son. In 2013, an Islamic father burned to death his wife and injured his three daughters because one daughter wanted to marry for love.

American politicians often point out that everything bad about Islam is not representative of Islam. But we have to have the discernment of Jesus on these things. He said in Matthew 7:15,16, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.Ye shall know them by their fruits." Indeed, a system that uses a book written by a false prophet and separates its morals from its actions at will using such a book is a huge contradiction. And politicians that parrot this dialectic are their allies. The US "president" for example, said the Islamic Jordanian pilot represented "universal human values that stand in opposition to the cowardice and depravity of ISIL." There is nothing in Islam that represents universal human values.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Rapture [Part 25], Dr. Andy Woods.

    Who Should We Pray To?

    Q.  I’ve recently been noticing more people praying to Jesus and/or the Holy Spirit during public prayer times.  This doesn’t make sense to me since Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Our Father…” No where else in the Bible do I see prayer being directed to anyone else except God the Father.  Just wondering if I am missing something or there is Biblical warrant for what I have essentially assumed for most of my life?

    A.  In John 14:13-14 Jesus said,
“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
Many scholars see this as Jesus granting permission to pray directly to Him.  As far as I know there is no corresponding verse regarding the Holy Spirit.  We can pray in the Spirit and in His power, but I don’t believe we’re told to pray directly to Him.  Of course, since the three are one, when we’re praying to one we’re praying to all.  But personally I’m more comfortable following the traditional practice of praying to the Father, in the name of the Son and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

    Friends,
I get the feeling that some of this important article was 'truncated', and if so, that's too bad, and let the Lord deal with anyone attempting to muffle the Word of God !!  We know that we are in a fierce battle and the whole world is in the grasp of the wicked one, Satan!   See: 2nd Corinthians 4: 4.   Islam always gets a free hand in THIS country, but all kinds of blocks and barriers are clamped on Christianity [ and I also know and admit that the Church has been sleeping and even cowardly for a long time, and things will get WORSE!].   Gas is cheap right now, but we get less food in the bag-- and pay more money!  Now,  I'm not crying or complaining,  just setting the facts  straight,  correctly.

We need to read, study, and re-read this truthful article below about the Rapture and WHEN it will happen, generally speaking.  As I have said many times in the past,  my full Trust, Faith and heart are on the Lord, forever, no matter when these things take place.... now or ten years from now!  But,  all the experts that I read and respect point to the NEXT SIX MONTHS as being THE time that our money, cash, currency, economic system will go down !  That's the way I, Tom Schuckman, see things.   I MIGHT be wrong [and I actually HOPE that I am wrong-- because I don't want to suffer hurt and shame anymore than any of my neighbors, brothers and friends do.... and I am NOT Prepared enough yet, IMHO.].   I am not a rich man, and if the Gov't went down the tubes,  much of my income would / might end too, being Disabled, etc.    In the past, when I got laid off from Chrysler for 6 years ---on the street, even with all my education and skills,  I got divorced from my first wife, Karen, and fell thru the cracks of the system, and was very poor, even though I always had some sort of  welding job and a busted down vehicle.  NO BODY IN THE WORLD would take me in,  not any of my family,  and I struggled BIG TIME, even homeless for a short time in the Winter of '95, cold Milwaukee !!  I was shamed, humbled, humiliated, hungry, and I think that God "allowed me to fall into those circumstances" to purify me of my terrible PRIDE, so that one night in a cock roach infested upper room above a bar on 16th Street, in the bowels of Milwaukee, I did get down on my knees and begged God for help, direction, mercy, to do His Will, at last.  After that things rapidly started to get better, and in May of  1995, I got called back to Chrysler, and regained  my former stature,  but I was Saved and 'Born-Again', and started attending a good, KJV Bible teaching church.    I like the Baptists because they dig down in their bibles and learn it well.    So I later realized that God had been watching over me all my life and protected me, even in Vietnam !!  Wow.   I am still very imperfect and sinful,  but I continue to try and be a Christian, and also share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, when ever I can, and in many ways.    The Holy Spirit is with me, helps me, teaches me, etc.  God loves me, I know it, and I AM a Christian Soldier.   I pray a lot, that I can somehow, some day be a better husband to my dear wife, keep my mouth shut so as not to get her riled up...  lol.   But I admit that I am a weak, sinful, wretch of an old man, aged 66, and have lots of steel parts in my body to hold me together... Ha!

Terri and I even had some great, tender, juicy New York strip beef steaks yesterday, watching the Super Bowl, after church!   We are blessed, but have debts/ bills  to pay, and when [not IF] the financial crash comes, we will be hurting too, just like everyone else....   except that we know and understand that God will somehow protect us... although we are very human and some may die from all the poverty and struggle.     But we must never be cowards, according to Revelation 21: 8.
I think that being a combat Soldier in Vietnam helped me understand how to "Put Mr. Death in my hip pocket, and make friends with him" in case I had to "Cash in my Chips" -- get shot down, die, get killed over there: 68-70, two long years, mostly flying as Door Gunner every dang day!    Back then at age 21,  I thought I was invincible, all powerful with the 'tools of death'-- my two M-60 machine guns.   But I was young and foolish, and have since learned to be more humble.    It's because of all of this past history, and severe motorcycle crashes, broken bones, etc., that many pastors have said:  "Tom,  God must have really loved you a lot to bring you thru all of those 'adventures' and dangerous times ! !"   And to think:  If I had been killed BEFORE I was Saved -- I would have ended up in hell !   Yes,  I have so much to be thankful for, guys and gals !   I also feel bad that loved ones and relatives won't listen to the truth of the Gospel and turn around from their bad way of living, before the Rapture !!   But....   I can only pray hard and set a good example for those un-believers that I meet and visit.   The Scriptures say:  that before things get so out of control and war are started, the Rapture will come.... so we believe that our time on earth is short.  The devil knows these things too, and we Christians feel his wrath and hatred !   Remember:  That God is Just and Fair, and He already knows who will make it and who will remain a stubborn, prideful, unbeliever and end up in hell.   It is not I, or we, who do the judging, but we know what will happen if anyone does not bend knee to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   Hell is a bad, hurtful, eternal place, where you check in -- but you can never, ever leave, or check out !!  On the other hand,  God's Grace is FREE !!  And the Holy Spirit can see into our hearts, and know if we are just faking it !    Too,  there are many humans who attend church for what ever reason, but the truth is not in them, and they are fakes and hypocrites, even doing great damage to the congregation and misleading many.   Beware.   Only KNOWING the contents of the KJV Bible can prepare a Christian to separate the real truth from pulp fiction, and wiles of the devil.
I have extended myself and offered help to so many people after I started sharing the Gospel...  bought many new bibles and GAVE them away to help get people started in the Way, the Walk with God, thru life, along with the 'Brotherhood of Brothers/ Saints/ Believers.'   [but let's be clear:  We can NEVER "buy or work our way into heaven !!!]   I feel the H.S. [Holy Spirit] motivates and plants these good, helpful ideas in my mind and heart -- to help others with small gifts of mercy and kindness, from my bounty.    And somehow, someway, the bills at church, lights and heat need to be paid !   $$$$.     Yet,  most of the people on earth will not accept the Lord Jesus, and end up in hell.   But we Christians would have 'blood on our hands' if we did nothing, never sharing the Gospel, with the fruitage of the lips, and handing out good bible tracts that help explain the Gospel, IMHO.

Friends,  now is NOT the time to goof off, lay around, go on vacations a lot, and hoist too many 'cold ones.'   We are blessed to have a great preacher at our country church in the cold U.P. of upper Michigan,  Pastor Kevin Sullivan !!   He is a strong man, a power house, a human dynamo !!  So by helping him and his wife, we are also serving the Lord.  Please pray for them too.
It's now past 11:00PM, and I will climb into our comfortable bed, with the Rottweiler pulling 'guard duty' at night.  We don't know when of if Mr. Obama takes over the InterNet, either, and then we know that we might not have the 'Freedom of Speech' after that !  If you find that others  you know could benefit from reading this blog post, please forward it to them.  Thanks !

    Warm Regards, dear friends,

    Tom Schuckman

I am not on FaceBook anymore.  Too much "Big Brother," etc.  Sorry....

Friends,  I just found out a day late and a dollar short, that someone or something loves to mess up my cut and paste Bible oriented articles, such as the one below, and scrunches it all too close, making it hard to read ! !  I am angry and upset, that such a fine post is not up to par!!  Sorry.  But you can always go directly TO THAT POST to read it first hand, and YES, it's  that important, IMHO.[In my humble opinion].  Just point and click on Dr. Andy Woods, Sugar Land Bible church, and get the goods!  Many of my friends also complain that certain Net works, truncate and mess up their work and posts.  Shame on those Islamic unbelievers, and Socialists and Commie rats !!  God will certainly deal with them in good order.

    The Rapture (Part 25)

    Andy Woods
Dr. Andy Woods Sugar Land Bible Church
My previous articles commenced a series on the rapture of the church. We began with the question, "What is the Rapture?" This question can best be answered by noting ten truths about the rapture from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. We then moved to a second main question, namely, when will the rapture take place relative to the coming seven-year Tribulation period? We offered the contention that believers can develop certainty that they will be raptured before the Tribulation period occurs for at least seven reasons. After dealing with these two questions, we began to explore some of the weaknesses associated with the other competing views that seek to answer the question, "when will the rapture take place relative to the coming Tribulation period?" At least five differing perspectives exist. We noted at the onset that it is important to understand that all of the non-pre-tribulation positions have a difficult time handling the seven arguments favoring pre-tribulationalism previously discussed in this series. We have already noted the problems associated with mid-tribulationalism. In the last few articles we began to scrutinize the arguments favoring post-tribulationalism. In this article, we will continue to scrutinize post-tribulationalism.
    After tribulation

    Post-Tribulation Rapture

Post-tribulation rapture theory contends that the rapture will take place at the end of the coming Tribulation period. This view typically sees no distinction between the rapture and the Second Advent and thus seeks to harmonize all references to Christ's return as taking place at the end of the future Tribulation period. Those adhering to the post-tribulation rapture typically rely on at least one of four arguments to support their position. In past articles, we noted that post-tribulationism errs in superficially connecting Paul's depiction of the rapture (1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:50-58) with the events of Matthew 24:30-31 and Revelation 20:4-6. We then moved on to the third argument that post-tribulationalists use to support their view. In this article, we will complete that discussion.
    3. Although the church is exempted from God's wrath, the church will be on the earth during the entire Tribulation period because the Book of Revelation portrays God's people being supernaturally protected from many of the apocalyptic judgments during this time period. In our last article, we responded to this assertion by observing that although believers will be exempted from some of the judgments during the Tribulation period, they will still be subjected to many other judgments during this time period. A related subject involves noting that the post-tribulation view has particular problems handling Christ's promise of Revelation 3:10, which says, "Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth." The Greek preposition translated "from" in this verse is the word ek. Post-tribulationalists often interpret this verse as not an exemption from divine wrath but rather a promise to be sustained through divine wrath. According to post-tribulationalist George Eldon Ladd, "...the promise of Revelation 3:10 of being kept [from] ek the hour of trial need not be a promise of removal from the very physical presence of tribulation. It is a promise of preservation and deliverance in and through it." [1] However, this post-tribulational rendering is not the only interpretive option. Beyond this, the posttribulational interpretation is an improbable one at that. Ryrie explains the controversy surrounding the interpretation of Revelation 3:10:
Posttribulationists say that "from" (ek) refers to protection of the church within the Tribulation. Pretribulationalists understand it to mean preservation by being absent from the time of tribulation. One is internal protection (while living through the Tribulation); the other is external protection (being in heaven during that time). Which meaning does "from" (ek) support? The answer is either, if the preposition is considered alone. But for the record, let it be said that ek does denote a position outside something without implying a prior position inside and then emergence from within. The pretribulationist understanding of ek is supported by a number of verses that have nothing to do with the rapture and therefore do not beg the question. [2]
It is noteworthy that the Greek preposition translated "from" in this verse is the word ek, which "carries the idea of separation from something." [3] For example, this is the same preposition translated "out of" in Matthew 7:5, which says, "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye" (italics added). Thus, by the use of this identical preposition in Revelation 3:10, the idea is clearly conveyed that the church at Philadelphia will be kept entirely out of the Great Tribulation in the same way a log must be completely removed from someone's eye before he has the ability to completely remove the speck that is in his brother's eye. In other words, the idea here is total removal from rather than sustenance or protection in the midst of.
Numerous other verses can be cited in order to solidify this point. [4] Proverbs 21:23 says, "He who guards his mouth and his tongue, Guards his soul from troubles" (italics added). Here, the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament created close to a couple of centuries before the time of Christ) employs ek, which is translated "from" in English. Guarding ones tongue obviously causes him to escape trouble entirely rather than merely sustaining him through trouble. [5] Acts 15:29 similarly says, "that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well" (italics added). Here ek translated as "from" conveys to Gentile believers to abstain from these practices, or keep themselves away from them entirely, so as not to create an unnecessary offense for the Jew. According to James 5:20, "let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins" (italics added). Here, ek translated "from" is used to communicate that turning someone away from sin will help him entirely escape the consequences of that particular sin, which is death. Colossians 1:13 also says, "For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son" (italics added). Here, ek translated "from" is used to communicate that the believer's citizenship and domain is positionally transferred completely and entirely out of Satan's domain at the point of personal faith in Christ. First John 5:18 buttresses this point depicted in Colossians 1:13 when it describes the believer's complete and total positional escape from Satan's grasp at the point of faith. This verse says, "We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him." Once again, the idea expressed in all of these passages through the Greek preposition ek is total removal from rather than sustenance or protection in the midst of. Therefore, this is also the same idea found in Revelation 3:10.
As mentioned in the prior article, the notion that the promise of Revelation 3:10 is nothing more than preservation in the midst of the Tribulation fails to harmonize with what the remainder of the Book of Revelation teaches concerning the massive, wide-scale martyrdoms of this future time period (Rev. 6:9-11; 7:9, 13-14; 13:10, 15). How can Revelation 3:10 be interpreted as a promise of preservation in the midst of the Tribulation when so many of God's people are portrayed as experiencing a martyr's death at the hands of the beast unleashed upon the world due to Christ's opening of the first seal judgment (Rev. 6:1-2; 2 Thess. 2:9-12)?
Even if the premise is granted, as post-tribulationalism maintains, that believers will not experience the wrath of God during the Tribulation period, the Church-Age believer still cannot experience any of this Tribulation time period. Note the full import of Christ's promise in Revelation 3:10: "Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth." Notice that in Revelation 3:10, Christ promises the believer not just an exemption from divine wrath, but rather a removal from the very hour of testing itself. Ryrie explains how understanding this time component of the divine promise significantly undermines post-tribulationism:
However, the promise of Revelation 3:10 not only guarantees being kept from the trials of the Tribulation period but being kept from the time period of the Tribulation. The promise is not, I will keep you from the trials. It is I will keep you from the hour of the trials...But how clear and plain is the promise. "I...will keep you from the hour of testing." Not just from any persecution, but from the coming time that will affect the whole earth. (The only way to escape worldwide trouble is not to be on the earth.) And not just from the events, but from the time. And the only way to escape the time when the events take place is not to be in a place where time ticks on. The only place that meets those qualifications is heaven. [6]
Rhodes also explains the significance of this promise as a refutation to the post-tribulational perspective:
The posttribulational view, expressed in the writings of George Eldon Ladd, Robert Gundry, and others, is the view that Christ will rapture the church after the tribulation period at the second coming of Christ. This means the church will go through the time of judgment prophesied in the book of Revelation, but believers will be kept from Satan's wrath during the tribulation (Revelation 3:10). Pretribulationalists (such as myself) respond, however, that Revelation 3:10 indicates that believers will be saved out of or separated from (Greek: ek) the actual time period of the tribulation. [7]
Regarding the promise of Revelation 3:10, Geisler similarly observes, "In context, the statement about being saved 'out of' (Gk: ek) the time of trial does mean saved from it (not through it). One cannot be saved from an entire hour by being in any part of it." [8]
In sum, having previously answered the question, "What is the Rapture?", we noted at least seven reasons that affirm the pre-tribulational rapture view. We then began interacting with the other positions on the timing of the rapture. In this article, we observed that post-tribulationism errs in failing to understand that the divine promise of Revelation 3:10 conveys a complete escape not only from coming Tribulation judgments but also the very time of those judgments.
