Dear Friends and Readers,
We in America well know that the human 'spirit' around the date of December 25th is anything but smooth and orderly... Ha!  And hurried folks get so pushy, selfish and even sometimes display anything but  Christian manners and patience.  Now we might expect younger folks who flip burgers or wash tables go be in the 'learning mode' until they earn higher responsibilities...  but so-called professionals who must work and get along with other PEOPLE need what we call:  "People Skills."  Most of the doctors and nurses that work at the various  VAMC's are courteous and kind, like my PCP, "Nurse Practioner" Julie Christensen, at Oscar G Johnson VAMC in Iron Mountain, MI.  I told her that I liked her today when I needed to see her, and related special things, meds., and people to see.  She knows how to take all the time she needs to care for her many Veterans that see her constantly on a daily basis.  I know for a fact how hard she works and cares for her patients.
But even in best intentions things get twisted or misunderstood, and in my case, the Pharmacy somehow dropped the ball again!  My smart Nurse ordered 3-- different new medications that I sorely needed today!    For one thing, I rely on the Pharmacy for all my important medicine on a monthly basis, and they are usually accurate and orderly, BUT THEY STILL MAKE MISTAKES... or someone doesn't train or break in the new people in this 'life or death business' because the wrong medicines have killed so many Ameican Veterans in the past and present, and we can call these accidents, but they are really cases of "Manslaughter," in my humble opinion.  A few years ago my past 'doctor' who was from Puerto Rico, and could barely speak English prescribed a drug for me that made me pass out in a confined area so that I broke my Left ankle in FOUR places to that they had to take me to St. Mary's hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin to have surgery, and they were afraid that it might come to AMPUTATION of my entire foot !!   This can all be checked out with names, dates, etc., and all the pain I had to suffer, but the doctor just moved to a faraway State.  The VA loves to hire foreign doctors so they can save money,  but I wonder how many Veterans they mess up to learn their skills....    Yes, they get paid a lot of money and good benefits, but there is also a lot of heavy responsibility!  And so they handed me a bad of medicines that I had to 'sign' for first, but I didn't check the contents until I got home.   They mistakenly gave me a whole different med., but never gave me the assigned 3-- meds that Julie told them to dispense...  duh.  I called my PCP immediately but she just had trouble letting that info sink in until I repeated myself over the phone a few more times, and then she started to apologize... but I told her that the fault lies with the Pharmacy!   Well, I don't want to go any farther, but if this small-time blog post ever floats over to those folks, I hope that they will pay more attention, even if Christmas time is close and all their well-laid plans for parties, food, strong drink and jolly making cloud out their better judgment today, 12-23-19.   After all, all of us are sinners and make many mistakes, so I want to be in a forgiving mood.   There was a time in my life where I held 'true life or death' in my hands in the form of an M-60 machine gun as we flew thru the skies of the Republic of South Vietnam in the late 1960's.   I had a really hard day today and had to drive to the VA by myself and unload my power scooter when I am not used to it.   I really missed my wonderful, faithful wife, Loretta, today, a great, younger helper that she is!  What a God-send!  It's so good to finally be with a lady who is not there just for my money and Chrysler benefits.
One goofy staff member took me in early today for the FIRST TIME ever since he has seen me only to reveal that he only wanted to boot me out of his tiny office about 12 minutes later so he could skip out the door early for his holiday trip or whatever.  I doubt if I will ever see him again--Ha!  I had high hopes for him in the beginning  but not anymore since I have seen his 'true colours.'   Other than that, now that I am home with my own loved ones, my 'blood pressure' has settled down.  I expect that many other Veterans 'operate the same basic way,' and too many tell me how stressed out they become when they enter thru those VAMC doors.    There exists too much 'pressure where the Gov't picks up the tab.'   But yet the ignorant younger goofs clamour for all the "FREE" Gov't health goodies they can get their greedy meat hooks on, dangled by the modern-day Socialists in America.  Move over Russia!   If something negative happens to President Trump --- Satan's man or woman will move right on in to fill in the slot and Socialism will become the new rule and law, IMHO.  Prophecy must be fulfiled... and 'God cannot lie.'  Hell is a place that can NEVER be filled nor satisfied.  And it's a place where people check in but they never check out.

Too many times we just walk away and wonder why people have to be so much in a hurry, and then the very next day they mope around with a hangover from tonight's booze party.  Been there -- done that, and it sucks.   Some of us learn faster than others I guess, and some of us never learn at all.

The smarts ones can 'see ahead of the pack' to discern any sharp rocks or cliffs in the distance.   So too, a good Shepard takes care of his flock or charge of people/ responsibilities, and they can see right through his motives.  Wise ones who have studied History know that the term 'Democrats' are non-existant nowadays in 2019, but the Socialists and Communists have hijacked the old Democratic political party!!  George Soros and Socialist countries even admit this and fund various Anti-American Orgs.   But it's hard to convince average people to study heavy texts like Hebrews and Revelation when they have not even read the simple Gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John!  Wouldn't it be a hoot if a family actually shut off the TV, music, and cell phones long enough to just read the true Gospel account of Jesus's birth and WHY HE COMMITTED TO THIS LIFE ON EARTH ??   Not just a few verses but a few chapters or the whole short Gospel account.  Wow!  I am a good, fast, educated reader so it's not so traumatic.  In fact, it's a good way to feel GOOD!  It's good to be alive at a time when we living humans can STILL GAIN SALVATION thru Jesus the Christ.   Read Hal Lindsey.

I hope that all the people, but especially Veterans have a warm, safe place to live, food on the table, and a glad, happy heart full of thanksgiving.  it gets pretty cold U.P. where I live....  Brrrrrr !

Warm Regards,
Thomas G Schuckman

Glory to God in the Highest!

By Hal Lindsey

People sometimes make the mistake of believing that the arrival of Jesus on planet earth was out of the blue. I've heard it said that He began His ministry without any kind of credentials. But in fact, He had the best credentials possible - God's word. He fulfilled prophecies about the Messiah going back to the beginning of the Old Testament.

He did not arrive "out of the blue." His birth, life, death, and resurrection were God's plan from the foundation of the earth. And it was written down! God the Son would take on human flesh and, as a man, redeem humanity from sin and death. His name would be called, "Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).

Sometimes people make the bizarre and unbiblical claim that the Old Testament does not say the Messiah would be God. It actually says so over and over, and in a myriad of ways. But if you want to give someone a quick answer, point him to Isaiah 9:6. "Mighty God" and "Everlasting Father" are clear and obvious.

That's what makes the events in Bethlehem and at Golgotha so astounding. This was God the Son being laid in a manger. This was the Second Person of the Trinity being nailed to a cross.

The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). He would come from the family of David (Psalm 89:3-4; 29-36). God promised Abraham that through his family all the nations of the world would be blessed (Genesis 12:3). That came true in the person of Jesus (John 3:16). He would be God's only "begotten" son (Psalm 89:27).

Most people think of "Christ" as Jesus' last name. But it's a title. It means "Messiah." When we say Jesus Christ, we are calling Jesus the Messiah. Simon Peter said to Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16). Jesus answered, "Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 16:17).

The scripture is clear that the Messiah would have to suffer, but not for His own wrongdoing. He would suffer for our sin.

Isaiah 53:3-6 says, "He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him."

Those words might sound like something from the New Testament. But they were written over 700 years before the birth of Jesus.

In John 3:16-17, Jesus described His mission like this: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him."

Romans 5:8 says, "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

2 Corinthians 5:15 says that Jesus died and rose again on our behalf! 1 John 3:1 sums up the wonder of it all. "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!"

It fits, then, that in the skies above Bethlehem on that night so long ago, angels sang, "Glory to God in the highest!"

Merry Christmas!
