Hello Friends and Readers,
You have heard it said that, 'there are no atheists in foxholes.' A "foxhole" is the Military term for individual defensive holes in the ground dug by the Infantry to shield them from enemy fire, etc. The 'Old Army' that I am most familiar with back in 1967- 1970 issued a shovel called an "entrenching tool" that could dig a hole but also served as a weapon [of course], standard issue to our fighting troops. I own a variation of that today but nowadays they come with multiple incorporated tools built into it and the sides are sharp.
Anyway, the thought here is that when faced with certain death and danger, even those who profess to be UN-believers in God, atheists and agnostics, change their tune in a hurry, and "find God" in that foxhole. I prayed many times when I was in Vietnam and even if I was not a perfect human being and Soldier... I firmly believe that Father God always had His protective hand around me because He intended that I would someday study the Bible and share in the preaching work holding up Jesus as Lord and Savior. See: Romans 10: 9, and Romans 5: 8. And after I came home for good, I shuddered at how close I came to death on a daily basis and developed PTSD. Especially an old man with underlying factors/ physical concerns and worries, that could take me down even without the Coronavirus. I am not looking to live long, but it would be so nice if I were 'translated up to heaven' in the Rapture! Still, as a Soldier, I must be brave and accept what ever the Lord has for me. Period. God does not like cowards.... Rev. 21: 8a. But in the mean time I can and will continue to share the Word of God, the KJV Bible to all who will listen and read. That should be the sole mission and directive of earthling man, IMHO., but especially those professing to be a Christian. What is the definition of: Christian?? Look it up in Webster's.
And also, not to seem vulgar, friends, but simple things like 'flushing the toilet PROPERLY' can also protect you from the virus! Always have the lid DOWN when you flush the toilet so that the virus can't escape into the air that you breathe! And don't leave your tooth brush and drinking glass out in the open of your bathroom, but put them away so they will not collect any airborne fecal matter from your toilet! If you learn nothing from this humble blog post --- learn THAT!
So, if anything good comes out of this horrible Coronavirus disaster, let it serve to draw us closer to the God of the Bible. Especially with the understanding that most of America and the world are stuck at home now days so as not to spread or catch the virus. Make good use of this private time and family time. Don't ever be ashamed to show your love for all of God's graces and gifts of mercy. Set the proper example for your kids/ children because they might not HAVE YOU for much longer. Instill in them the proper, right values in life... and death. When we face the Judge on His throne --- at least have something positive to say about the time we spent at home as the virus sweeps thru the world and takes so many of our people down. Smile, God loves you.
Warm Regards,
Thomas G Schuckman
