Dear Friends and gentle Readers.
I only pasted SOME of this important information about Magnesium on my blog post this morning, so it would be prudent to read the entire article.
Again, Knowledge is the Key to better health and happiness. My wife and I have 'aged' over night in the house that we recently bought in the U.P. and Lori wonders if the water has anything to do with it... so I will have some tests done in the next few weeks. But the people from far away come here to fill up their gallon jugs with the pure, clean water here, as there is a special fountain of public water near our small town, and I heard that Norway water is even bottled and shipped all over the place. So... personally, I don't think that our water is the culprit, but we shall see.
Sorry, but I have a huge mistrust of most doctors and the VAMC's that I have been in, because I have been lied to so many times, and I am not stupid, but well educated! I can look up and study ANYTHING IN THE WORLD with my PC --Personal Computer! Before I got into the PC tools, I used to almost live in the local Library and have many books in the book shelf that I constructed and stained Walnut. I love to do carpentry, and also used to have my own Welding shop, fully loaded with every good tool and machine. So know I am an old, crippled wreck but I still do some light carpentry and wood carving... like carving Scriptures into wood with a Router. My wife, on the other hand is a tough, talented worker kind of a woman, also a hunter, etc., and she cannot tolerate the intense sun rays nor heat and humidity, IMHO.
But to the business at hand, we are both well read when it comes to vitamins, minerals, herbs and spices. This article really is a wake up call for me, and so I want to share it to YOU! I hope you can also download the whole article in it's entirety, to get the most out of it. And I know a special place where I order all my Herbs and health products that are shipped to my back door in about 3-4 days, and reasonable. My email: tschuckman@aol.com
I can't believe the cold snap in our region [down in the 30's] North of America! We had to turn the furnace back on even after we put on more clothes to bundle up! But our Lilac trees are in full bloom and Lori picked a few to put in a nice vase, yesterday. That is one of my move favorite scents.
So, there is much more great Info to download and read.... go for it !
Have a great day!
Warm Regards,
Thomas G Schuckman
Today’s blog is republished from my friends at TheAlternativeDaily, a leading publisher of daily alternative health tips that I personally read every day…The original article can be found here:
Magnesium is intimately involved in over 600 reactions in the body including the metabolism of food, the transmission of nerve impulses, the synthesis of fatty acids and proteins, muscle movements, gene maintenance and protein formation.
It is one of seven essential macrominerals that must be consumed daily in large amounts — 100 milligrams or more. We store about 25 grams of magnesium in our body with more than 50 percent of this being stored in the skeletal system. The rest goes in the muscles, soft tissues and bodily fluids.
Unfortunately, studies note that about 50 percent of the people in the United States and Europe get far less than the recommended amount of magnesium. It is important to know that magnesium levels in soil are lower than they used to be. Plus, the use of chemicals such as fluoride and chlorine in water make magnesium less available. In addition, daily use of sugar and caffeine also deplete magnesium supplies within the body. In addition, if you live a high-stress life, it is likely that you are magnesium deficient.
A magnesium deficiency can lead to a range of chronic health issues. Just to name a few: calcium deficiency, poor heart health, weakness, anxiety and high blood pressure. You can also add type 2 diabetes, respiratory issues, fatigue, poor memory and confusion to the list.
Health benefits of magnesium
Here is just a sneak peek at some of the amazing benefits of this tiny macromineral and why it is so important to be sure you are getting enough of it.Blood Sugar Balance
Magnesium helps manage insulin levels in the body and can prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes from occurring. It also plays a large role in blood pressure control, preventing high blood pressure from occurring, especially when combined with enough potassium in the diet. This does two things: controls stress that can elevate insulin levels and improves overall blood pressure that, when out of control, increases insulin resistance and can cause type 2 diabetes to occur more easily.Depression
Magnesium is essential for proper brain function and mood regulation. Research indicates that without enough magnesium, you are more prone to depression. According to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, major depressive disorder impacts 14.8 million American adults. In one study of over 8,00 people, researchers found that those 65 years old and under with the lowest intake of magnesium had a 22 percent increased risk of developing depression.
In a randomized controlled trial including older adults suffering from depression, a 450-milligram magnesium supplement improved mood just as effectively as an antidepressant drug.
