Dear Friends and avid Readers,
Who would have ever imagined the rude, scary, rioting young hordes of vandals and punks who prob. never held down a job for longer than 2--weeks, or whatever. When I was younger and working in different Welding shops all over WI., IL., etc., 2-- friends tried to lure me into L.E. [Law Enforcement] but I gratefully declined and stuck to my studied trade of Welding until my old company, Chrysler called me back after spending 6 years 'on the street.' The story of my life after Vietnam is so full of super active adventures, with a few life threatening accidents sprinkled in there for good measure. Maybe I was just a 'hard-headed guy' who needed the stern hand of the Lord, and frequent trips to the 'Wood Shed.' Visit Hebrews 12: 6, "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth." Sooo, Smile --- God LOVES You ! Invest in a great, large print KJV Bible, and a few colored Yellow markers to highlight special Scriptures like the rest of us Soldiers of Christ. After all, if we all claim to 'love someone,' shouldn't we also get to KNOW them as much as we can, now, on Earth... also in Heaven? And Pray/ Ask Father God for the Holy Spirit to help us totally understand what the Bible says/ means.
But to the riots in the USA and beyond... sane, logical people all know that rioting, robbing, arson, and murdering innocent people has nothing to do with mourning the death of a black young man in the State of MN! And right now after the Coronavirus [Ha! They change the name every other month.... duh], the Gov't has precious little money left to replace all the damaged, burned, destroyed businesses, buildings, sacred shrines of public nature and historic statues, etc. And to be fair, we are all sorry about the death of that young gentleman of color in MN, but various 'News agencies' treated that individual like a Saint, and a 'gentle giant' type of guy, when it was later discovered that he had a long
rap sheet and in prison too often, also violent natured. When cops get radioed with this new knowledge, I am sure that they are 'loaded for bear and ready for anything to happen.' One time in Vietnam I was ordered to stand guard over an enemy combatant POW while we were flying in a helicopter on my 2nd tour: 1968-70.
But Yes, we ARE certainly getting bombarded with pestilence, sickness, deadly viruses, and violence.
And it would be smart to look up the scripture cited down below at: 1st Thessalonians, Chapter 4, verses 16-18. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
18. "Wherefore comfort one another with these words." Read Chapter 5, too. As you prob. know, it's smart and wise to read the surrounding chapters and eventually the whole book!
But now as we skip over to the next book of 2nd Thessalonians 3: 10, we wonder just how are rioters going to WORK to pay their bills in light of THIS Scripture: "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you. that if any would not work, neither should he eat." Really, in those days if a riot happened, the king would call in the Army to put down anarchy with a 'glove of iron.' and the sharp tip of the spear and edge of the sword. President Donald Trump is well within his rights to call in the active duty Army to put down all lawlessness and mayhem!
I hope that you all have a good day.
Warm Regards,
Thomas G Schuckman
Signs of the Times
By Hal Lindsey
This year, planet earth has been taking a stroll through Matthew 24 - the famous chapter where Jesus laid out for His disciples some of the signs to look for as the time of His return approaches.
The most obvious sign right now is "pestilences." COVID-19 has been dominating the lives of people around the world. But it hasn't come alone. London's Daily Star reported recently on an "Apocalyptic swarm of deadly mutant ticks" that have invaded Russia. Massive locust swarms are still ravaging parts of Africa and Asia. The world is battling pestilences almost everywhere.
And if you think the present pandemic is bad, look out. Shi Zhengli is the deputy director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology and one of the world's leading scientists specializing in viral transmissions from bats. She said the current coronavirus pandemic is "just the tip of the iceberg."
Jesus also spoke of "lawlessness." We've been seeing lawlessness all over television in recent days. It started with lawlessness among four law enforcement officers. Then some of those protesting that lawlessness went full rogue themselves - looting, burning, and finally injuring and even killing police officers who had nothing to do with the death of George Floyd.
As Jesus foretold, these are also days of unprecedented "deception." Technology has given us more ways to communicate than ever before. Your telephone is a TV studio and global broadcast station packed into something small enough to put in your pocket. And with every new way to communicate comes another opportunity for deception. I'm not talking about occasional mistakes that honest journalists make from time to time. I am talking about blatant lies meant to deceive and mislead. And it's everywhere.
I could speak of wars and rumors of war, earthquakes, persecution, and the other things Jesus told us about. But in the present turmoil, I want to focus on a phrase found in Matthew 24:7 - "nation will rise against nation." The word translated "nation" is the Greek word "ethnos." The English derivative is "ethnic." Racial prejudice and divisions are a direct fulfillment of this prophecy.
The events from Matthew 24 that I have been describing are hard to watch. But it's important to realize that the Lord told us about them two thousand years in advance. He likened the world in these times to a woman going through labor. Birth pangs follow a pattern. They increase in frequency and intensity right up to the time of birth. That's what's happening now.
We look forward to the Lord rescuing us from this world. (See 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). In the meantime, we will see heartbreaking things. We can best help people by sharing the Gospel in every way possible. And while we're here, remember the power of prayer. 1 Timothy 2:2 gives us an amazing motive to pray for those who are in authority - "that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity."
This not the time for timidity or fear, but for love, wisdom, work, and prayer.
