Hello Friends,
I guess I have the reputation to rarely brag about our American public servants and Representatives, but the fine gentleman in my own upper Northern District is a winner, a Veteran, doctor at the local VAMC, and so I say, "job well done, sir."  And the subject of suicide is very important to me, being a combat Veteran and human being.  The KJV Bible holds all life as special, sacred, a 'gift from God.'  Without going into all the science of deep depression, loneliness, desperation, etc., it's just a terrible waste of life and experiences, IMHO.  And after all, I too suffer from combat PTSD, along with thousands of other Veterans.  I have always tried very hard to open up my hands, heart and mind to any and all people suffering from depression.  If anyone knows of someone who has those feelings of suicide, please steer them to my Blog, and I also include my personal email address:  tschuckman@aol.com

I have said on many occasions that I find it very helpful to read, study and memorize Bible scriptures, especially from the books of Psalms, Proverbs, etc.,
For instance,  Proverbs 9: 10 says,  "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;  and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."  Just read the Proverbs of Solomon in Chapter 10... and verse 3:  "The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish;  but he casteth away the substance of the wicked."
Brothers, friends, readers,  just allow your eyes to continue to read those fine chapters in the book that I've just cited and also pray to the Lord, Father God -- through Jesus Christ, and see if it won't make you feel better.  Know and understand that there is help and people who are willing to listen, help, pray and talk with you!  I am one of those people, if you have a computer, or even a "smart phone."
A pastor from a new church that my wife and I have started attending for a few weeks just called me up this morning and after talking to me for 20 minutes, prayed with me over the phone.  But we MUST be willing [or force ourselves] to reach out and contact someone AFTER we pray to God, or how will we ever succeed in finding people who can help us?  At least that has been my personal struggle and success in life, thus far.  But I have to admit that searching for the right church can be daunting these days with so many 'false Christian, money grabbing, churches'... and God will judge them in due season/ time.  Judging them is not my job, but identifying them is my way of protecting myself.  However, there just IS NO PERFECT CHURCH, because we are all human, sinners and so imperfect, and Satan the devil loves to attack real Christians at every waking moment and even in our sleep, IMHO [in my humble opinion], dear brothers and sisters.

To be sure, being a Christian opens up the spiritual fight between us and Satan and his demons -- and also those humans on earth who follow Satan, of course.  But the battle is worth is, and really, what is the alternative?  To just give up and surrender to the devil [and the world that is under his thumb] means eternity in a horrible place, and being a coward [Revelation 21: 8] means going to the wrong place after death!  We must stick together with other Bible loving Christians in this life, but if we cannot find any people like that, we will just continue to pray hard day and night and lean on the Lord.  Proverbs 3: 5,  "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;  and lean not unto thine own understanding."  And verse 7,  "Be not wise in thine own eyes:  fear the Lord and depart from evil."

I am happy and blessed to own a number of good, leather bound Bibles and I prefer the King James Version, because I believe that it is the most accurate version, even though it MAY BE a bit hard to understand at first if we are not familiar with Shakespeare's English of the 16th Century... written in 1610- 1611.  But, as I have said so many times... if our ancestors had to learn English after coming to America-- from Europe/ Germany, so can we!  Nothing worth while is ever EASY in life, but the rewards at the end of the day are sweet and tasty!  Working hard on Dad's farm when I was young bore good fruit/ food and a sense of accomplishment!

Two fine gentlemen just walked into the house delivering the newly purchased washing machine, named:  Tom and Andrew.  One of them is an Army Veteran but younger than me.  They are older fellows who seem to know what they are doing compared to the last goofy bums that Home Depot sent out... who could not install that washer for lack of knowledge/ smarts... lol.  My wife had to make a quick alternate decision to shop else where, actually in the same small Northern town in the U.P. of Michigan that we live in.... from Peterson Electric, in Norway, MI.

More later.

Warm Regards,

Bergman's Veteran Suicide Initiative Passes Senate VA Committee
Washington - Today, the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs unanimously passed an amended version of Congressman Bergman's IMPROVE Well-Being for Veterans Act, which would allow the Department of Veterans Affairs to work with community partners on reaching and serving local Veterans at risk of suicide. The Senate bill expands the bipartisan IMPROVE Act to include provisions that will enhance community partners’ coordination with the VA and ability to treat Veterans in crisis with immediate care. Congressman Jack Bergman issued the following statement:

"I'm thankful that the Senate VA Committee unanimously passed the amended IMPROVE Act today. I introduced this bill in the House to address the suicide crisis faced by our Veteran community and fundamentally enhance coordination and planning of Veterans mental health and suicide prevention services throughout the country. More than 20 Veterans and Servicemembers a day take their own lives - it's far past time for Congress to do what is right by those who have sacrificed so much for our nation. It is my hope to see this legislation make it to President Trumps desk and get signed in to law.”
Earlier today, Rep. Bergman discussed the importance of caring for Veterans in crisis, and the need to pass the IMPROVE Act, as a way to better serve our Veterans both in and out of the VA system. You can watch Rep. Bergman’s questions HERE.
